If this guy still isn't up to speed, this is a disgrace. The season is 4 games in and he wasn't pulling up any trees last season, in fact he was basically deemed unselectable for months on end.

People who think that he is shit need to re-watch that match against Barcelona at Old Trafford last year. We weren't great as a team but he was good imo at spraying the ball around accurately with purpose and good energy to win the ball back. He did the same against PSG at Parc des Princes with very poor teammates around him. We don't have a player like him in that pitiful midfield.

I mean did he have a real run of games since joining? Give him time.

He's not been bad for us at all. He's lost the ball a couple of times deep in midfield (which Pogba does 5 times a game) and it's been blown miles out of proportion.

He's quick on the ball, is good a closing down and winning the ball back, he's not dissimilar to Herrera. He should be starting for us. It seems Ole just doesn't rate him, which for me is concerning.

To sum up the 52 million transfer of Fred that sort of sums up our club is that he has had more weddings than goals since he joined the club.

Should be up to speed after the international break. Hopefully he'll start against Leicester allowing Pogba to play higher up the pitch.

He should be starting. It’s annoying Ole gives him 0 chances.
There’s no basis for that. He is coming on the back of a really poor season and if he’s not doing it in the training, he shouldn’t be in the match day squad.

Think it’s pretty clear he’s in the doghouse.

I don’t think ole was too impressed at the timing of the wedding.

Is there something seriously up with this guy? 50 odd million and never even on the bench. Have seen enough of him to know he can actually play a bit.

If it was an injury we would know.

Drugs? Mental illness? Screwed Ole’s sister?

What’s your thoughts on the invisible man?

He’ll get his chance at some point this season, let’s hope he takes it.

Manchester United midfielder Fred has appeared to take a little dig at manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to continually pick Jesse Lingard ahead of him.

That's cool of Fred...but they don't even play the same position. Having a week long wedding impact you about 4 to 5 weeks afterwards is kind of on the player. Fred is currently fourth choice maybe even fifth choice center midfield player with Garner - Pogba, McTominay, Matic, Fred/Garner.

Take some accountability and stake your claim. We've seen enough talent for Fred to make a positive impact on the first team but something's not clicking with him. Thought he showed enough towards the end of last season to build off of, but only McTominay has done that, yet even McTominay has his major weaknesses being exposed the first 4 matches of the league campaign.

Fred should focus on making the matchday squad first.

One of the weirdest stories of the season, nobody is picking it up. How is he not even making the bench? The pre-season thing is a lie, because Willian had even less pre-season and came from injury and already played almost 80 minutes already.

My god, what a bust. Jose's last few transfer windows were absolute disasters: Lukaku, Matic were pretty bad transfers given that spend over 100 million on the pair, while the jury is still out on Lindelof. Sanchez and Fred have been unequivocal flops; Dalot is still up in the air (but it's not like he was cheap.) I know this post isn't breaking any new ground, but it's pretty exasperating.

I dont think Ole is interested in the type of player that schedules weddings during preseason. Cant say I blame him either

So Woodward was right not to give him more money to blow?

Ole wants to be like Uncle Fergie...

He has gone and got his own ‘Anderson’, just wait for him to show up 3 stone overweight...

Fred is actually a very good player though and if given a chance will prove his worth. I agree on the rest of the signings you mentioned, including Lindelof, they were/are not good enough.

Is he? Because he’s never shown anything at Utd to suggest he’s anything like a £52m footballer?

He's barely been given a chance. He's had a few good games and a number of average games.

I think he's lost the ball once or twice deep in midfield with one occasion leading to a goal, that's the only part of his game people seem to remember. The rest of the time he's been quick on and off the ball, good at linking up play and winning the ball back. We'd be a far better team with him in the side.

Yeah I still hold out hope, although I was also optimistic about Sanchez finally coming good...

He must have an attitude/training issue to be so blatantly left out.

Maybe he took a piss on Fergies statue whilst whoring with 3 dancing girls or something...

He has not played enough to really judge him. Lingard on the other hand has proven time and time again that he is just a bang average footballer that would not be able to make the bench of any European top team.

True, but keep that to yourself or you'll be cited for "hating" Jesse. And (gasp!) in the Fred thread no less.

Perhaps, but then why did he extend his contract?
Only by a year since it was coming to an end, he would have went into the next season with that being his last on the contract which would not have been an ideal situation.
Also at that point things were not entirely bad, we ended up finishing 2nd that season but the end to that season (after the extension wasn't great)

The fact he only got a year extension is enough to show the board wanted to see more from Jose which they never got and he was subsequently sacked

Add van Gaals disastrous signings on top of that, & Moyes’ 2 - albeit not disastrous but not resounding successes either. And it shows you why the squad is in the shape it is.

In all honesty, Fred is 3 times the player Perreira and Lingard are. I doubt these two would be getting into any other top 10 team...seriously. Perreira would struggle to get into any other premier league team yet Ole okays him the whole game vs Southampton and expects to win.

I think Ole will pick a team which did not get selected for the national team. Like Fergie used to do post International break.

Play players that are rested and he has worked with for 2 weeks.

Fred is not in the international set up and if he is not in the next matchday squad, there is a bigger issue here.

Jose had probably never heard of Fred. He was probably throwing a monster tantrum at Ed to go out and spend 150 million on Kevin Strootman, when an article in The Sun about Pep wanting Fred caught his attention.

Both those teams stood off us. In the EPL he is trash and coat us goals. He reminds me of Anderson

Yeah but the sample size to judge him is also trash. People write him off like he played a full season week in, week out in the PL with terrible performances after performances. Well nowhere near so i think we need to wait before burying him.

I’m beginning to not like this guy. Says he’s gonna work hard after completely detailing his career here for a wedding.

Now he’s sat down flicking through his phone on a second holiday in a month in Greece. I mean are we supposed to take this clown seriously?

Coaches should be giving this guy private training and drills at Carrington. He’s done nothing to deserve a second holiday this season.
