Players that shouldn't have been sold

In the last 6 years which players the fans and the club were impatient with and should've been given more chance?

Considering the amount of ins and outs in that period, I only found four that I think still had more to give to the team and much better than a lot of dross that remains to this day on the club's books.

Zaha
Memphis
Evans
Blind

Any other additions?

I'd agree with Memphis and Zaha. The others wouldn't have been good enough though. I know we didn't sell him but we should have tried to keep Zlatan.

I don't have any names to add, but in general I think the club has had the opposite problem: keeping players forever who never fit.

I would have liked to have seen Rafael stay, injuries were his main problem. Evans could have benefited from a better coach. The rest were fine to go, we even made decent money on Welbeck, Schneiderlin, Blind and Depay

Fellaini, Ole's first mistake.
Left in Jan when Ole was in his 3 or 4th week of being a caretaker, Not sure how he was allowed to sell anyone. Find it very strange that people find this hard to believe.

Selling a average player is never a mistake.

As for this thread, I wonder if people will include Rojo in these type of lists if he does well after being sold while forgetting how shit he's been for us.

I would have kept Zaha and Blind. Memphis was shit with us but maybe we got rid of him too fast. Now that he matured as a player I like him a lot!

It was the right move to sell all four of those players. They weren’t close to being good enough for us at the time.

Zaha and Memphis are not United quality, they have found their level at their current clubs, back to playing at a similar standard to the clubs we signed them from. I'd agree on Evans and Blind.

Memphis should have had more time
and Hernadez would have won us the game at soton getting on the end of these crosses across goal

Zaha and Depay should have been loaned out, not sold. Blind would be a very useful utility/squad player. I'm surprised he was never really played in midfield with us.

As for Evans (to the OP), we already had Jones and Smalling as senior heads in central defense. One of them had to go. You can only keep so many players in the squad who are squad players at that position. If your entire career at a club has you no better than 3rd or 4th choice central defender, then when you reach a certain age it's time to go. Mind you, I would have kept Evans over Smalling (yes, I'd keep Jones too)

Neither Zaha or Memphis would make some great players even under different circumstances.

Blind / Rafael / Hernandez for their mentality as much as their respective abilities, I thi k they'd offer a huge deal to this young squad.

Zaha / Depay /Januzaj as I think each had the potential to be useful players for us, and we are in dire need of attacking options as things stand. Januzaj I'm on the fence with, the other two for sure.

Which is why he's having such a wonderful time at West Ham...

Different managers different style. Since Pelligrini has taken over he has been not playing regular football so him moving away was a good move for him. He will get the end of one of those crosses. Hernandez needs the ball in those kind of space. He is a poacher.

I've always thought we should've kept Blind. He was a good utility player, good mentality and very professional.

Ronaldo (People seem to forget that when he was sold to Real, they basically tripled his wages. While at the beginning of the 08/09 season when Ronaldo was threatening to hold out, United were seen as not giving in to player power by making him honor his contract. What if United had offered to triple is wages to stay? I've never heard that we tried. I'll bet his "dream" might have been a little different and we would have had 2-3 more league titles and at least 1 more CL... I'm often surprised that when people look to shame the Glazers, they don't look at this moment and realize this is where we should have spent the money. Stranger still that we threw money at Rooney 15 months later for kicking up a fuss and threatening to join City.

Also
Stam (sold too soon)
Beckham (was missed)
Veron (should have had one more season)
Pogba (probably should have been given a chance)
Chicharito (never understood the rush to get rid of this guy)
Blind (could probably be doing a job for us in midfield now)

Missed that part

then Blind and Chicharito, maybe Nani by a season or so.

I was fine off loading Memphis and Zaha... I wouldn't really want to sign them now.

I stand by the Ronaldo statement though

Nani or Zaha would have been a far better option on the right wing Mata or Lingard for most of the last 5 years than.

Wold have liked to have kept Rafael, 5 times the player Darmian was for us.

What, the important part?

Agree about Blind, if i'd been the Manager(God help us)he have stayed and probably been Captain by now.

Disagree about the rest, especially Ronaldo, if we'd offered him Alexis level of wages he would almost certainly have turned it down.

People are saying we shouldn't have sold Memphis just to play him on the wing again.

FFS he's been shot for years. It's got nothing to do with Pelligrini. Accept it and move on.
