Don’t be stupid, clearly has no ambition, he’s a 4 season wonder, next year he will be found out and he is an Arsenal fan. Get rid Levy.

Love the morons who spout that shite.

You can have ambition but also not be a fecking mercenary. He obviously wants to win everything (look at how bloody frustrated he gets when we fall short!) and people should bloody love that in this shite age of football where 99.9% of players don't give a feck about the shirt they wear, we have a player who genuinely cares as much as the fans. Whoever you support surely that's a good thing? That romance hasn't been totally killed in football?

Couldn’t agree more, I have no doubt top teams have been interested, they must have contacted his agent and said “we want him”. If clubs thought there was any chance there would have been a bid or the media at least trying to turn his head, as of yet nothing. I hate to say it, but can you imagine how many goals he would get for City? Talent all round him, I genuinely think he would hit Ronaldo or Messi levels of goals in the PL which is unheard of. No I’m not saying he is as naturally talented as them but he is just as clinical in front of goal.

Also if tonight is anything to go by he is starting to be less selfish, Kane of last season wouldn’t have crossed for Sterling, love the guy and his injury’s of last season are definitely behind him. Poch needs to do what Southgate is doing, feed him.

Agreed. Can't even imagine what he'd do in an attacking machine of a side .. he's scored 40+ in good seasons for us, imagine that but in a side which creates like City? He would be insane.

He still has selfish moments but like, name me a top striker who doesn't? They're relentless. He's still very regularly looking to find teammates and obviously his passing ability has improved massively.

And yeah, we really just do not feed him enough. The lack of crosses/dangerous balls in to the box is scandalous, and our midfield recently simply hasn't been slipping balls through to him. I love Son but whilst he does create he is primarily a goal scorer and looks to shoot, and Lucas has a similar head down and go for goal approach, Alli coming back and looking for Kane regularly should improve us significantly and I'm praying lo celso kicks on.

Just can’t ever see him leaving Spurs. Seems a really well grounded chap, happy where he is and doesn’t come across as somebody who’d be happy to take the gravy chain at a bigger club - mind you, £200k a week would keep me happy too. Not sure titles mean that much to him at domestic level, think he’d rather like to beat Jimmy Greaves record as all time scorer at Spurs tbh. He can still do it and go down as legend.
He’s the new Arun Sherbur

We seem to be agreeing more mate, long may it continue. In our team he is forced to drop deep far too often. He is at his best as a pressing striker. Yes he can feed but for feck sake why, he should always be the point of the sword.

That will only last so long . If City or Madrid come in for him in a year or 2 he's gone . Every top player wants to win trophies

Haha as long as we're not talking transfers we're good!

And yeah, he has that ability to drop deep and his passing range is so good that on one hand it makes sense, but on the other you've got one of the deadliest players in the world in the penalty box .. so let's fecking use it.

Right now Pochettino's zombie passing in midfield/shit delivery from the fullbacks just isn't getting the best out of him, and that's a worry because he's clear and away our best player.

It would be very impressive for him to attain Ronaldo or Messi numbers while he's watching Aguero from the bench ;)

Flat-track bully. As usual, scoring goals against the weaker teams but bottled it when it comes to stronger teams. If it wasn’t for his selfishness in the WC semi-final, where he could have passed to Sterling to make it 2-0, England could have a place in the final.

 Let's forget his numerous goals and great performances against top teams in the PL/Europe then, shall we? And judge him based on one poor decision. He probably fecking shot because Sterling's kink in an England shirt is missing far post tap in's.

The man has scored against every PL side and has an insane goal/game ratio in the Champions League, but yeah .. flat track bully.

He's scored an insane number of pens for England. And people say Rooney scored easy goals for England. He's a stat padder of the highest class.

All top forwards 'stat pad' - without exception. How many pens does Ronaldo have for Madrid, Juve, Portugal?

Don't know. All I know is his pen ratio for England is insanely high compared to past strikers. Eveytime I watch him for England, he has the incredible abilty to do nothing in a game and come away with 2 goals or so. Good luck to him.

He was involved vs Bulgaria .. had a goal from open play, pressed well from the front. He's the man leading the line for England whereas for Spurs we have him a bit deeper.

Generally for England I think he's had a lot of performances where he hasn't scored but has played very well. Games against Colombia & Spain stand out the most, was a proper hold up man in those games.

His continued willingness to stay at Spurs may also say something about his mentality... unless you start to win trophies.
Yes, it says he's a loyal person who has an affinity for the club, and not a mercenary who just wants to win trophies for anybody.

He's a professional football player.

His legacy will be dictated by the number of pots he wins.

He's in danger of turning into a Shearer of Le Tissier type player.

That would be okay I suppose.

Yeah .. so?

It's a sport. He has an affinity for the club, just like our own fans do. It's not just a job for him and as a football fan that should mean the fecking world to people, who the feck wants soulless players who will kiss the badge of whatever club they happen to rock up at? Who doesn't love a home grown player who genuinely adores playing for his team?

He may well end his career as England's top scorer and possibly even a PL record scorer, or close to that. So he'll be judged as one of the best strikers of his generation regardless of what he wins for Spurs, and Shearer is viewed pretty highly by most anyway.

That's what he's in danger of. Playing for the club he loves and being the main man for his country, being absolutely adored to bits by his fans and living in London on 200k a week. Whilst playing CL football year after year and having experienced the CL final/world cup semis.

I'm sure he's devastated.

Irony is, he probably would have won the biggest pot of all (CL) if he hadn't actually started in the CL final. By relegating Moura to the bench disgracefully, the club chose a coming-back-from-injury Kane over a real shot for the trophy.

Myth. Moura has been bigged up to insane levels because of one great performance he had vs Ajax.

He's an incredibly inconsistent player who nobody can remotely say for certain would have changed anything vs Liverpool. To say he 'probably' would have won the CL if he didn't play the game is completely unfounded.

Last season, passing to Sterling might not have been the right decision anyway (people often conveniently forget quite how bad Sterling was for us when referencing that World Cup chance[1]). But I disagree that he wouldn't have done it: that game of playmaking genius against Spain showed a lot. And Kane was played in a much deeper role for club and country for long stretches of last season and it quickly became apparent how unselfish he could actually be.

In fact, barring Kane's breakout season or two, I never considered him an especially selfish player, though he is always improving in his decision-making for sure. The fact that Kane has never sulked over a teammate's goal - including that time Rashford poked one of his shots over the line, for which he received glowing praise from Harry - suggests that he doesn't have a major problem with selfishness.

Anyone who doesn't think that almost every elite club in Europe has at least enquired about Kane at some point is either naive or clueless about football. Clubs don't announce players they would like unless they can afford them and there's a reasonable chance that the player would want to transfer to them (i.e. there has already been successful contact behind the scenes). Otherwise every single window would be full of a thousand news stories about every club's bidding interest in Messi. It's clear from the lack of anything substantial in the rumour mill that everyone who has approached Kane or Spurs thus far has been rebuked, which is probably how Madrid established that he would cost 200m. Imagine thinking that no top team has ever gone in for Kane (or attempted to). fecking hell.

I want Spurs to win something for Kane's sake. I respect the hell out of his loyalty but, Jesus Christ, if he ends his career without a major honour, he'll go down as one of the greatest players of all time to have won nothing (hell, history may even judge him as the greatest to win nothing by the time it's all said and done, especially if he breaks the PL scoring record).

[1] The "cross to Sterling" line was always based on big faulty assumptions. For starters, most people still think he missed the shot when he actually produced a fantastic save, and passing was not the massively higher percentage play that people think it was, especially given Sterling's ability to miss open goals for England at the time. Anybody who still berates Kane for that one mistake in that one game should go back and rewatch the chance dispassionately and in the context of Sterling's own performances at the WC.

If Fergie was still our manager, he would have bought Kane long ago. We always had a top class striker for the majority of Fergie's tenure.

I really wanted spurs to win the champions league last season, but their players were spursy in the final. I hope Spurs can do his talent justice in the coming seasons.Hell, players like JLingz and Marcus have won trophies and they don't even have half of his ability. It would be a shame if he finishes his career without winning a major honour(PL, CL). Even Alan 'fecking dearer' shearer has won the PL, and he should have won more. i hope Kane doesn't go the same way.

Imagine Kane playing at City. He would probably reach Messi/Ronaldo figures.

We have average players on huge contracts. I don't even want to think of what our attackers will demand if they ever score like Kane has been doing the last 5 seasons. Can't believe he is only on 200k/week. Incredible business from Levy.

Quite so. Kane certainly wasn't what lost Spurs the CL. 7 or 8 players forgetting how to make 6 yard passes and, unfortunately, Sissoko lost Spurs the CL.

Nobody was match fit or in form because it was nearly a month after their last match -- and it showed. Lucas wasn't better than the rest of the shitshow when he came on either.

Poch's decision ultimately came down to "probably fit" Kane vs fit Lucas and Poch just decided to play the better player. If one watches the final again - though I wouldn't blame anyone, Spurs fans or neutrals, for not subjecting themselves to that torture - and really observe each player's fundamentals, one will find that Kane was one of the only players doing even the basics right.

After Spurs gave away the pen, they were never winning that game with any team they had available. The nerves were just too much. I've never seen Spurs go to pieces with nerves anywhere near that badly before. Kane, to his credit, was the calmest player on the pitch even though he probably wanted to win more than anyone else there (boyhood fan, academy product, hyper-ambitious leader, genuinely loves the club).

Of course, there may have been some element of favouritism from Poch in that one game but how can we ever know? If you genuinely believed both were fit (and Poch would've had access to all kinds of data we weren't privy to) and you were picking the best man for the job, you'd have done what Poch did.

I get so fecking tired of these football myths and legends that can be dispelled simply by watching actual gameplay with an objective mindset. I'm constantly in a state of near-retirement from the social aspect of football because the general quality of debate among partisans is so low.

Can anyone summarize what types of injuries he’s had over the years? I know he’s had some lengthy lay offs but I’m not sure if they were similar or different injuries.

But there is an element of truth in what he says. Messi wouldn't have been widely/near unanimously regarded as the best player to have ever played if he never won a trophy, even if he had similar stats. Le tissier and Shearer, although regarded as icons of English football, will always have a 'what if' tag associated with them, because they weren't playing for teams competing for major honours.

It ultimately depends on what Kane wants though. If he wants to become an icon at Spurs, then that's commendable. But if he never wins major trophies, while his talent, play and stats would place him among the very best strikers to have played in the PL and for England, he will always have a 'what if' tag attached to him. You may think that it's not fair, but it is what it is.

Just looked at the PL table, and you are below us(how?). And here I was hoping that you guys would somehow do the impossible and win the PL this year, since United are stuck in the shadow realm for the forseeable future. I don't want to live in a timeline where Liverpool win the PL.

Worryingly, all ankle injuries. More than once, the same injury to the same ankle.

I don't like to consider the possibility that Kane may be crocked physically and never again be able to reach his absolutely dominant 2017 peak, but it is a possibility. And it would unfortunately fit in well with the observable reality of his fluctuating form and play style.

Ultimately, he could do what many of the best tennis players have now done and take a considerable recovery break from the sport and potentially get some kind of treatment if his ankles really are a long-term concern. But I don't think the level of pressure on him to perform for Spurs nor his own desire to play will allow that to ever happen.

But there is an element of truth in what he says. This is absolutely true. When even individual awards are predicated on team achievements, it's going to be extremely hard for Kane to end his career with the recognition he deserves at Spurs.

I really want him to win something and to move if that becomes necessary. If he insists on staying, admirable as it'd be, it would almost be better for his individual legacy if Spurs won nothing because he would then be distinguished by that fact. He would gain his own title of the GOAT to never win.

I agree with this. However "forcing" Kane to start (he was never gonna say no) wasn't wise when he wasn't fit.

Apologies for the late quote, just reading the thread.

Do you think he’d hang around with you if you were mid table and not in champions league places? Just because of his ‘fan like’ affinity for the club?

I think he’s just comfy at spurs tbh, not expected to win anything but still getting the glory of playing in big completions
