Should resign De Gea on those wages? I don't think we should have anyone on those wages quite frankly, it's obscene.

But on De Gea, look he's been making mistakes he didn't used to make for sure. But his raw performances are still damn good, he still makes great saves and is still a good goalkeeper. A clanger that everyone remembers every now and then doesn't replace the fact when he's not making clangers he's very very good.

No way he's been "rubbish" for the best part of 2-3 seasons. Simply not true.

Okay, so he's saved 3 not 2 then. If I'm still wrong, which I could be, what others has he saved!?
In all competitions he has saved 11 out of 55. Which is average. Not good, not bad. His stats in the P.L alone are worse.

The fact is - none of the truly great GK in P.L history saved a lot of penalties. 4 keepers stand out: Gunn, Srnicek, Almunia and Kharine (all over 40%). Kharine saved an incredible 5 out of 11 penalties (45.5%). Ederson has a 100% record but he has only faced 2 penalties.

But the average Gk saves between 20-25% of all penalties. Experienced GK like Schwartzer, Friedel, Van der Saar, James, Sorensen, Jääskelainen all ended up in the low 20% for instance

For Man united he's saved 11? I find that hard to believe, but open to be proven wrong if someone can find what teams etc..

Done deal? Great news if it is. Now to keep Pogba so we can spend on other positions needing an upgrade.

This helps the rebuild big time if true. He will settle again now.
For sure. I hope he does settle, even if he doesn’t get back to his old levels, it will be a much better scenario than us paying a huge transfer fee and huge wages to another keeper who will need to settle and could potentially have huge difficulties coping with the pressures of this club and filling Dave’s shoes.

That’s before you even get into the issues and fees of signing the new goalkeeper and what that could take away from strengthening other areas. We’re also more attractive with Dave on a long contract rather than him opting to leave us on a free and the uncertainty that would create.

Brilliant news if confirmed.

I'm struggling to feel any excitement, or even any emotion at all about this news, but I guess that's one area of uncertainty sorted, one way or another.

I presume Castles was broadcasting live from Jorge Mendes' arsehole.

He don't deserve it. Think this will be a bad deal for us if its true. He's shite in the air and with the ball at his feet. On top of all he's even a bad shot stopper these days.

Castles has got ZERO news right all summer. I fully expect him to be wrong with this too.

If he signs we lose Henderson while De Gea will continue to decline except now he will be doing so on bigger wages .

Although you could argue we owe him for carrying us on his back for so many years

This is one of the stupidest posts I've ever read here. You might want to consider thinking more and posting less.

Henderson and DDG competing for a spot. We can’t lose. Romero is the odd man out if Henderson lives up to his potential.

This is a smart move by United. He’s one of the best goalkeepers and only dropped his form when the contract issues started. He carried us long before that.

If Real Madrid etc come knocking in the summer now they’ll have to cough up £50-60m at a minimum.

Whilst it’ll have cost us an extra £3-4m in wages. The following summer maybe an extra £10-12m (probably less - i’ve no idea what his salary is).

who promoted you?
Is it really that much of an outlandish opinion? He's terrible with his feet, doesn't come off his line, and his shot stopping hasnt been up to his usual standards over the past 18 months.

Probably a smart investment for the club though, might get sold in a year or two.

Totally agree. If it is true then we don't need to allocate 60 million plus to replacing him next summer when we have far more pressing needs to address and we can also won't lose him for free and so can sell him in a couple of years time if that is what he wants and use the fee to secure a replacement or if Henderson makes the grade spend it on another area of need.

Having a very bad year and contributing to United coming 6th last season, get a bump wages.

What an excellent news. Hopefully he keeps on giving excellent news.

Next are Lingard and Lindelof.

The David Jamesesque boo-boos he's been doing for 6 months now, will end. There's always a big upturn in form when the ink dries on a new mega deal.

He’s 28 years old for feck sake. He’s had his first rough patch in 5 years and it’s consisted of about 5 mistakes over 6 months. The reason it’s been such a big deal is because of the standards he has set himself.

Absolute nonsense to write him off, he’s barely reached peak years for goalkeepers.

How will we lose Henderson ? He is on a contract with us until 2022 (+ option for one more year) - if Henderson does well at Sheffield United and de Gea doesn't, we can take Henderson back and make him our first choice goalkeeper. The difference is that we now have at least 3 years to decide if Henderson is good enough.

He's been shit now for a year. Better would have been to release him on a free.

Am I doing this right?
Close but you also need to throw in a complaint about this proves Ole is a yes-man and maybe some random comment about Lingard.
