To the people saying he'll be 28 or however old if/when we sign him, why does this matter? This just takes the pressure off Martial, Rashford, and Greenwood. They will have more time to develop whilst not being relied upon to score practically all of our goals when they're all young and one of them particularly young even by today's standards. You'd get a good four years out of him being either the main guy or part of the squad while the other guys get closer to their peak age. Signing an older striker if we are signing an out-and-out forward is exactly what we should be doing if we decide to go down that route. He has great stats and you'd think that he could at least keep that standard up in a better side, or perhaps even better it. However, despite this I don't think we should sign this player - just that I don't think signing a player closer to 30 is a bad thing right now considering how many young players we have (along with the likelihood that Young, Grant, and Matic could all be shipped off in the Summer meaning we lose a lot of experienced heads, the only players over 30 in our side would be Mata and Romero).
The reasons for not signing him are that I believe he is too similar to Martial, Rashford, and Greenwood in how he plays. This might not be a bad thing as it means you can keep the same playstyle even when you're forced into changes through injury/suspension, but I like squad players to offer something different which is probably a personal preference. The other is his injury record. We are not blessed with the best injury record overall in our squad and signing anyone with a questionable fitness level is just a massive no for us.
While it's a big call and extremely questionable, I think our board and Ole are all-in for Sancho. If we are going to sign a forward of any distinction it's going to be someone who is more than happy to play on the right, probably someone young, British, and has great potential/quality. He fits the bill more than any player in the world IMO, so I am sure we are planning to do everything in our power to sign him. This probably involves being in the Champion's League and keeping Paul Pogba though IMO, so it's going to be a huge ask. Odds are probably against this deal happening, but I do think it is undeniably our Plan A in the Summer. Wilson could be a target but I think he'd be a bit of a way down the picking order for us. So, no is the answer to us getting him, but not because he wouldn't fit the bill or isn't of the right age.
