If we are sacking Ole then hopefully we sign coaches/managers like Erik ten hag, Tuchel or Nagelsmann. Coaches who have very defined way of playing and also not afraid to take control of the game vs strong opponents.

Don't think any of them are realistic in mid season (doubt Tuchel will leave PSG unless they sack him) but we should be identifying coaches and start building the squad that will suit the manager.
I agree with all 3 of those choices as well as Pocchettino who I think has now hit a wall at Spurs and needs a really big job to motivate himself fully, thing is I don’t see any of the 3 you said or Pocchettino coming in anytime before the end of the season so we’d need a caretaker again and basically be back to square one of where we were when Jose was sacked.

Whenever you suggest a name, ask yourself this: Can he convince players like Lingard and Pereira to start delivering an end product? Can he turn back the clock for Mata and Matic? If the answer is yes, then we should definitely go for that guy.

Anyone looking for Ole to be sacked needs to wise up. Problem isn't solely with Ole, club is in a mess and the players to me are the real problem. The recruitment was a mess in not replacing Lukaku, Sanchez, Herrera and dare I say Fellaini and its showed all season. Some players are passengers in this squad and its showed in several games but Ole cant get rid of them all because we haven't a Director capable of negotiating deals properly hence the reason we cant get rid of some of the deadwood and bang average players being rewarded. Anyone thinking this is a quick fix by sacking Ole is delusional to say the least.

I think if we go for someone it will be Pochettino but the question is Would he want to come to us.
He made comments recently about having little control at Spurs and that he felt more like a coach then a manager; I an only imagine how he would feel working under Woodward.

Do you think the squad has enough players that are good enough to keep possession, especially players who can keep possession while also creating chances?
Does not help when you buy players like AWB and Daniel James, even though it is wrong to blame them for the clubs ineptitude.

Some of them are good enough, and we should be able to get 5-6players on the pitch that can actually pass and receive, but does not matter since it takes more than just the technical ability to play possession, and this must be coached and will never happen under the current management. And we are lacking able players in certain positions.

Pogba, Gomes, Pereira(can pass well when given time), Lindelof, Maguire and Martial are all able to play passing football given their ability on the ball and what is needed in their position, coincidentaly these are among our most intelligent players that usually makes non-idiotic decisions when on the ball(PP gets hammered for being the sole player to create something while he has to play with a high degree of risk).

Pogba, Martial and Gomes are the only one with the ability to be relatively press resistent.

Pogba is the only one that can create and score.

Mata does not count because he would still look slow in a veterans game and his new contract should have been as a mascot or as a club ambassador.

Rashford and James could contribute in a similar fashion as Sterling does (final third 1v1 and running in behind) if we had someone that would tell them how to move and to stop shooting from bad positions.

Main issue is our central midfielders and full backs. Positisons that are vital for playing possession based football.
AWB needs to fix his posture when on the ball. Leans over the ball like he is falling forward and makes it difficult for him to control the ball with consistency. Also difficult to pick out a pass when the ball is so close to your feet. Shaw is a lost cause, Young still does not understand that he should recycle the ball to the other side when he gets is closed down. No need for him to play it up to a marked winger with nowhere to go. Matic is closer to Mata in speed every match and McT takes to much time on the ball and his close control and passing is not good enough. Fred is Bailly.

Tuchel and Nagelsmann aren't leaving their respective clubs mid-way through the season when they are competing for big prizes. I think Poch will leave Spurs sooner rather than later, but I just don't think he'd join us. Madrid job is basically a matter of month before it opens up. I think we have to suck up a season under Ole, pray and hope one of the younger players have a breakthrough year and appoint a new man for next season.

Also, let's dispel the myth that Poch teams play amazing progressive football. They don't, so in an unlikely scenario he does end up here don't expect him to work miracles.

Right so besides the full back positions there's a massive hole in midfield, it's not like Pogba, Andreas and Gomes can be a midfield 3. (Not saying you're suggesting that either)

Pereira can pass well sure but it's that given time part that I don't trust with him. Gomes hasn't played enough to say he could handle it regularly.

So theres 2 spaces in midfield (not to mention other question marks about Pogba)

Then you've a forward line of Martial with Rashford and James? Which might work I'd think but Rashford might always want to play centre forward which he isn't looking suited to.

I still would prefer to get into next summer and see if the midfield gets finally fixed.

Poch looks to me like the only guy who could break the Pep/Klopp axis, because he actually understands how a high press works. The best Ole can ever manage is third for the foreseeable future, because he is tactically a decade behind these guys.

Forget about Klopp or Pep, he is tactically behind Lampard who only started coaching last year and had no transfer window at Chelsea and also lost their best player.

Problem is that everything needs to get fixed about this squad(and the club for that matter). In an ideal world, the only two among our starting 11 i would build a long term team around is PP(if he did not want to go and his agent was not Raiola) and Martial. And some of the youngsters like Gomes, Laird, Levitt and Greenwood. Rest of the players got serious issues in their abilities or decisionmaking that would create constraints in how the team is set up or can play.

The best place to start is to build from the midfield. Make it not an issue and then build around it.

What has Ole done to even warrant a position as Director Of Football at Manchester United? Serious question.
Get in the best, most qualified people in these crucial positions and call it a day.
I don't disagree with your point. My proposal would be a compromise. Ole has brought in good players this summer and they've been some of our best performers this season (as little as that means). He knows the profile we'd be looking for.

Maybe I'd make him Head of British talent recruitment and hire a VdS for the top position? In any case, it's clear we're getting nowhere with Mr Big dick investment banker in charge of football matters.

I would be wary of appointing Allegri. According to Wikipedia he's most famous for Miserere :)

If you beat us by less than 6-0 on Wednesday, you might consider Darren Ferguson, whose Peterborough lot managed that feat (helped by some spectacularly inept defending).

It hardly matters who the manager is with these players
That's the lie we've started to believe because of Mou's moaning and now Ole. It's simply not true.

Is this a squad that can challenge for the league title, absolutely not. Is it a squad that should be able to beat West Ham and Crystal Palace, most definitely. There is no tactical change in our setup and I can't see any evidence of individual coaching with our players, that's the basic requirement of a coaching team. What's the philosophy, what are we working towards, there's just no plan other than having fast strikers it seems.

I guarantee if you brought in someone like Howe, Hasenhuttl, even bloody Pellegrini we would see a difference in how the team was trying to play by now. Ole took charge a while back and whilst I'm not saying these manager's are the solution to our problem, I can tell you how they want to play football and see how their current teams have improved.

The manager and the coaching staff make a world of difference.

He bought Maguire and AWB for boatload of cash and both of them were top performers in the PL, it doesn't make one a genius DoF for signing those two. It really is silly to keep our ex players around like ghosts. Get in proper people who know the job.

We don't have the right players to suit any manager. We can't deny that we are in dire need of a massive rebuild. Any manager will need atleast two seasons to make it his.
So just let Ole stay to build his team.

If we were to replace it would have to be a modern day manager. We're still stuck well behind the times imo.

Moyes - Dinosaur football
LVG - Was way past his sell-by date.
Mourinho - Tactics and man management were stubborn and outdated.
Ole - Man management might be there but tactically doubtful. Seems to rely on the 'This is Manchester Utd' and play with passion approach.

We'd need someone with a forward thinking strategy. Football has changed and we need to catch up. Liverpool even have a bloody throw-in coach and it's benefited them.

I'm not going to pretend I know everything about them but someone like Nagelsmann, Favre or Tuchel? I hear good things about Marco Rose. Even Bielsa? At least they've got styles of play.

Well before the season started I didn't think we were going to have a good season, but I have said a few times that I think we should back Ole no matter what this season, he needs at least this season and next, and I can't really back out of that 6 games in.

Maybe if there was an obvious top drawer manager out there like a Pep or a Klopp, who I felt could really change our fortunes and play football we'd all appreciate, then I'd say go get him, but I just don't see that person out there, so I just don't know where we'd be going if we get cold feet on Ole now.

I think what is disappointing is just how flat it is, normally with youth, you don't expect them to be good at managing games against experienced pros, you don't expect them to be grinding out results, but you normally expect a youthful naivety or a youthful energy which can often cause teams problems, but we're not really seeing it.

Even against Chelsea, the truth is we were 2nd best for large portions, but tore them apart when the gaps started opening up in a short space of time in the 2nd half. I mean a couple of their shots go a few inches to the right, or an inch lower, and we're probably losing that game. Then where would we be?

Well maybe it would have been a kindness and we would have done better against the shitey teams we should have been beating, like Palace, who is to say?

We do have injuries though, but when don't we have injuries?

I have doubts, I'm only human, it's difficult when you're not certain you're being taken in the right direction, but I'm still saying we should stick with Ole. I mean he's done a lot of the things I would have done, like getting rid of Lukaku, Sanchez, Fellaini, so it would be a bit rich of me to suddenly start questioning the wisdom of one or two of those decisions. Maybe sometime you have to go backwards before going forwards.

I think we have other options but i do agree with the overall sentiment of your post. Ole is a decade late and thats a terrible thing in todays football. The great managers of the past decade arent doing all that well.

I hope the board are sounding out Pochettino, because Ole might not be be lasting long. the last thing we want is ANOTHER caretaker. We need to get this right this time.

Why is it so difficult for the top brass at the club to understand this. It really isn't rocket science. Sadly, until it happens we're on a hiding to nowhere.

Totally agree.

Poch should have been approached and Ole just continued as caretaker. All this bollocks about Molde etc...just doesn't cut it

Again, I don't necessarily disagree but we've spent big money before and it hasn't worked out. And some of the expense there is the fact we're buying young and proven from a PL clubs who are flush with cash, don't need to sell and know they can squeeze us.

I have been a hoping for Ole to do well however; the West Ham performance has to show to everyone that he is not good enough. I can live with us getting beat away from home, it happens. However; If Ole cannot get the players right mentally he isn't the man.

We have seen this kind of "freeze" a bit too often now. The first freeze came V Everton and it continued for the rest of last season where we were playing as if we are playing a div 3 team in a friendly.

There were signs of it Vs Southampton 2nd half, carried on v Leicester and West Ham.

Fans can say everything they want about lack of quality in the squad and hide behind it but I am not falling for that, we had 3 months to sort that out and didnt and Ole has to take the flack for it saying he trusts the youngsters.

There is absolutely no excuse for Manchester United not to compete on the football pitch. There was talk of this high press, we haven't seen it for the last 3 PL games.

Does the plan involve playing decent football as well? Or just being youthful, energetic and happy?
My problem with people who have so definitive views is that you are cannot consider that you are not 100% right. For example, does decent football mean you are more likely to win games? If you win games, does that mean you decent football? The answer to both of these is no.
Liverpool win games playing in a non decent football way. But they are all buying into a clear plan. Press high, attack quickly. And they have been extremely lucky enough to only need 15 players for more than two seasons now. City win game by playing decent football but they also have 22 players that would make any other squad in the league. And they all fit the system / plan. Barcelona and Real have had a plan / system over the years. This year not so much, but there is still a plan. Its why i cant see SPurs / Arsenal winning things, they dont really have a plan. A short term idea probably, but not a plan.
Ole has a plan to pick players who want to fit the system, who want to be at United, and on the field, be defensively solid then attack quickly and when against a low block, be patient and creative. You would think that a target #9, a AM and a DM that come into the starting 11 and this team will look so much better.

We all know that the key to success is attracting the right players. And that requires a high quality club structure from the owner down. And we don't have that at any level.

Poch has obviously been approached or sounded out. But it seems like he's smart enough to stay away. We're not an exciting project right now, and he knows any manager is set up to fail here.
