Who cares. Bruno loses the ball too much. Dyboo-boo doesn't believe. Eriksen is too Danish.

Mata is better than other 2 and he is given 5 or 10 mins towards the end. God knows what's he thinking.

Mata is obviously on a different level as a football to the others taking into account his past. But yeah, three players who offer precious little. Lingard is bang average. And Periera I still can't figure out why he plays for us

Mata has been garbage for a long time. The fact he is Spanish means people seem to believe he is a creative little #10 with an eye for a pass but in reality he is a very conservative, cowardly, “safe” player who usually goes backwards and sideways

Lingard is rubbish and but for pure luck and circumstance could be playing for Rochdale and not standing out

Pereira has some technical attributes under certain circumstances but very little else

I’d go back to the 4-3-3 with Pogba as your “spare” in midfield

I have never seen any attributes from him. At least Lingard did produce some odd moments but Periera is just pathetic. One of the most pointless players we have had since Cleverley.

Far more pointless than Cleverley in my opinion

Still stand by the fact that from time to time he’ll have a quick flash of decent technical ability like the goal against Southampton, the pass for Rojo’s chance against Rochdale or the shimmy/cross for one of our goals against Chelsea

I think his only decent attribute is that he puts in a good shift. It's sad how far we have fallen with players like him. He should be sold next season before he starts becoming a baggage for us.

At this point this place should just open up a Lingard subforum.

I was slightly worried when we gave Mata and Periera contract extensions. The former passed it and the latter never being good enough. Lingard, as poor as he's been, could probably be a squad player, and would obviously get a lot less stick if he played a lot less.

None of these players are good enough to be starting (could argue even playing) for United. Big reason as to why we struggle to create. And when I say create, I'm not talking about just passers, i'm talking about someone who can actually take players on. Our wingers (if we can call them that) struggle to take players on. Rashford and James do it once in a while, but the two are very inconsistent.

I like a 4231, and hope we carry it on, we just need better 10s/wide attacking midfielders. Players like Maddison, Havertz, Sancho, Zaniolo, Brooks, Van der Beek, Bergwijn. Some of these players wouldn't even cost that much, but I personally feel they would improve our team 10 fold.

Mata has been a liability for awhile now. I don’t believe or ever believed he was a Manchester United type of player. Too slow, too weak. His eye for a pass is a myth these days.

The other two aren’t good enough but we are unable to sell players easily it seems. They’ll probably go in the summer and it would be long overdue.

Lingard thread number 99. Why don't all the people that want to make lingard threads just have a night out once per week like a book club

Any line up involving 2 out of 3 at the same time in attack has been a disaster so the persistence with it needs questioning/addressing.

No idea why we even bother playing a 10
Exactly.

Pogba --------------Fred
------ Matic/Mctom ------

Easily our best midfield option.

Seriously, when was the last time we played 11 players in their right position? It's like we lack even the very basics of being a competitive football club

Was Mata always a sideways passing merchant even in chelsea days? He always likes to play risk free football, was that the case even at chelsea?

Do you think its because 1) we are losing games and 2) we dont have any other players or do you think you have actually unearthed some interesting statistical insight

Going to Man Utd has ruined him, and he's been played far too far wide and too far from goal the whole of his time at the club.

Maybe you should join them on their night out. Seeing as you pop up in all of their threads anyway.

Both, we had it coming. Clearly 3 shit players completely exposed, more so without Pogba doing their jobs for them. Add a Rashford in a poor form, Martial injured, no RW and you get the disgrace we're seeing.

In the first 60 minutes or so against Chelsea I thought we looked fine with Pereira as a 10, though we scored 4 when we switched him for Lingard at right wing. We held our own against a Chelsea team with more technical skill on the ball than us, overall.

He doesn't have an incredible eye for a pass, but he will try to play the striker through and is good for some assists, I think.

At United, Mata has never looked like the player he was at Chelsea. Now he's a shadow of the player he was. He's okay as a deep bench player who's half a coach, but that's it.

Lingard can do a job with top players around him, but he's never been an attacking force. He, and everyone else, look like they're thinking when they get the ball, instead of doing what they know is required in that instance. It's making everyone look bad.

2 have performed poorly for us for over a year.

1 is 23, having his 2nd season with the team and while not performing brilliantly, is at least winning the ball and has set up good chances for teammates a bunch of times this season.

Andreas has no business being in this thread. He's been average like most of the team. Lingard and Mata are a performance level lower than that despite being vastly more experienced

Andreas has a good moment in him but he's always getting dispossessed, he's been dreadful this season and a reason why we've constantly lost the ball in dangerous positions. He's the least bad out of the 3 for sure but is partly to blame for our mediocrity in attack recently.

Pereira has a bit of quality when he gets the ball out wide in terms of his delivery but he's a very average player. Too lightweight, sloppy touch and is not creative.

Lingard has a good game every now and then, works hard but in reality he should never be a starter for Man Utd.

Mata has been terrible for years. For someone who's supposed to be creative, I've never seen someone less creative.

Always hated 4-3-3 with point forward, 4-3-3 with one DM is for me, talking in general, not specific for us.

There was nothing we can do with Lingard in the summer though, he’s still with us due to his contract.

The issue is that we gave Mata & Pereira a new contract. We had the chance to get rid Mata due to his contract end & Pereira only had 1 year left, but for no common reason we gave them new contract. How is our board & manager think Mata deserved a new contract after last season performance he only produced 2 league goals & 3 assists. Pereira has done nothing last season and only produced 1 league goal 1 assist. Terrible decision.

Greenwood could take Pereira’s spot on the right, Gomes could take Pereira’s spot as no 10. Or we could sign a no 10 like Bruno if we don’t trust Gomes. Or we could just keep Sanchez and let Mata go. Or we could try to play 433 instead of 4231. Both manager & the board have to take the blame.

Both manager & the board can’t manage the club well enough & fail to see some deadwood that don’t deserve a new contract. The board couldn’t get the players that we got in order to get rid Mata & Pereira. The manager’s fault that he’s changing the formation to 4231 so he can play Mata & Pereira together. :houllier:

I got their Opta stats (green background) for premiership games and added in Angel Gomes' Europa game. Then I wrote a formula (see Aggregate column). Gomes has a positive Aggregate = 40 (which is excellent in comparison to other players). The terrible 3 have negative Aggregates of -4, -5, and -11. Also added the average of the MEN ratings (2nd column).

All 3 players who shouldn't be in the first team. The sad thing is all 3 are the face of the club.
