I don't think there's anyone available who can turn this sad bunch into a good team. We just don't have enough talent in midfield and attack. There's no point in sacking him. We won't suddenly do much better.

Pochettino is lightyears ahead of Ole.

If there's even a slight chance we could get him we should sack Ole tomorrow and give Pochettino this squad and see what he can do.

I'd predict if he was our manager tomorrow we'd finish top 4.
Yet somehow performing just as badly with a team he's had 5 years to develop.

9 points from 7 games. 9 goals scored. 2 PL wins in 12. Where the feck does it say that we have to be this shit during a rebuilding period?

I'll sack him now. We're just delaying the inevitable. This is going nowhere.

This thread shouldn't be locked. Legitimate question at this point.

Keep him at least till the run of away games is over and then evaluate. However if he is sacked, DO NOT wait till it is mathematically impossible to get top four.

I'd keep for now.

I'm starting to think that this isn't a job one manager can do. By which I mean that we're in such a bad way that even a manager doing the right things will be unable to get the short/medium term results required to keep himself in the job from this starting point.

As such, despite having no hope of Solskjaer succeeding here, I can imagine us being in a better situation squad-wise by the time he leaves. More signings like Maguire, AWB and James won't be enough to save his job (because ultimately I don't think he's a good enough manager) but they might provide a better platform for the next guy.

Unlike some of our previous managers, I don't think he's actively polluting the side in a way that will last beyond his reign.

Keep as long as we don't have an ideal replacement lined up that's available, and I see very few actual suggestions.

Sacking him now won't magically solve any problems. We should focus on getting in a good DoF first, who can set a clear direction for the club. I don't trust us to do any good long term while aimlessly wandering around from one manager to the next.

You'd have to say keep him, but he isn't making the best case for it. He's obviously not the best tactically, and we look absolutely bereft of ideas going forward. So disjointed, and toothless. Really is Moyes level stuff.

But we gave him 3 years, and the club seem to be briefing that we've hit the reset button and it's different this time. You have to let him see it through. His signings have been good, so at the very least he'll leave the squad in a better place than he found it.

I agree with this post with the exception of Pochettino. Too many people on this forum have turned it into a dump suggesting that the likes of Rodgers would improve this side. Allegri is a very good manager but not for a club with a less than ideal squad that can't attack.

At the end of the day it comes down to the quality of the players.

He's the first manager in ages that actually looks capable to signing well. We should back him in the transfer market and see what he can do.

Keep. Unless Leeds make an inquiry for Wan Bassaka. Then we can make a move on Bielsa.

If it means we can get Nagelsmann then sack, but until then give him more time, he’s borrowing it anyway. Unfortunately I’m getting those same gut feelings I did about Moyes, and my instinct has been pretty accurate :(

Breaks my heart. But if Ole goes we really need to make it known to the glazers that Woodward’s head must roll too

I can’t believe we’ve spent 900 million and have gaps all over the line-up. Striker, right wing, creative mid, defensive mid, strong competition for shaw

If he had us playing coherent attacking football with our best players playing in the correct positions, made great tactical changes during games and had us playing football that was entertaining fans and having the opposition fighting tooth and nail for the points then I would accept these results BUT we are having shit results by playing shit tumescent football from a man who seems to have no fecking clue what he is doing and even clubs like Rochdale and Astana seem to be a huge hurdle for us. Teams love to play us, I bet Newcastle are thinking they can finally get some points on the weekend because we are toothless and clueless...We are a shower of shit from top to bottom and everyone can see it.

Ya, I respect that the squad is going to improve in his hands at least. Improvement compared to the previous 3 managers, that much is certain. Shame they can't get their tactics across to the players as I really wanted them to succeed.

He has performing badly now but I don't think it's down to him being a poor manager. Rather him and Spurs players reached full saturation. He needs a new challenge and the players need new coaching and managerial ideas. The exact same thing happened to Klopp by the end of his tenure at BVB.

It's hard to be a long term manager at the current age because at one point every one gets bored, performance drops and it's time for a change. Doesn't speak about anyone.

I have criticized Poch a lot previously, however of course I'll take him ahead of Ole, and even if he doesn't win much here, I'm sure he can develop a good a team and build a good basis for us, something Ole will never, ever do, because he's a poor manager and a terrible coach.

Are you saying Ole is the best manager we can get that will get the most out of these players? In other words have we hot the best manager in the world?
That's not what I'm saying Summit.

What I'm saying is, the guy knows what a Man Utd player needs to be and this is evident in 3 good signing in the last window that fit the profile of players that played under SAF (good work ethic, mentally tough, push play forward).

Granted, tactically he is not up to the required standard, but he cannot get rid of all the shite in the squad at one go (Rojo, Jones, Lingard, etc.). Give him until the summer at least, recruit some players in January that fit the same profile, and in the summer get a top manager to take over the new squad.

We need our identity back before getting a new manager and restarting again. If the players at least have the work ethic and mental toughness, it will make it easier for the new manager.

While that is true, there can sometimes be some merit in delaying the inevitable. Sacking a manager in June paints a very different picture to sacking one in October. The latter is a full-blown crisis.

Why?

He's simply not good enough to manage at this level. Just look at the teams above us in the league. You think all of them are that much better than us?

Whether the sack comes now, or later in the season, you’d have to think the board are already sounding out replacement candidates so they can move quickly when they decide to pull the trigger.

Would I sack him now? Meh, who cares. The squad is complete shit from back to front, so it doesn’t make a great deal of difference in the short term.

Bayern sacked Carlo Anchelotti in September at nearly similar timing. I don't think it means much anymore and with or without sacking, everyone know we're in a crisis already.

Keep. Stick by him, hope he can improve the rubbish we're producing now once Martial, Shaw and Wan Bissaka are fit and hope he continues to bring in good players.

Keep.

As other posters have said his 3 signings have been our better players this season.

We’re not having much luck at the minute - we need to kick on in games and get the second goal.

He’s got us creating chance after chance after chance.

I honestly think Ole needs time and patience from the fan base. Reset our expectations because we’re light years behind City and Liverpool. That’s not Oles fault. In one transfer window he culled a lot of deadwood- it’s clear as day the club are buying into his project. I’d be amazed if Woodward doesn’t give him 2 years at least.

We where in way worse positions under LVG (Christmas run) and Jose at the start of last season.

At least this year there’s shoots of positivity in the team- AWB, Maguire, Dan James, Scott McTominay. We’ve not been poor and with a bit more luck and clinical finishing we’d have beaten Wolves, Palace, Southampton and Arsenal. The only game for me where we’ve been terrible was West Ham last week- and did you see the likes of Mata, Matic play tonight?

It's as if you only met our board? They come up with only rushed decisions.

Anyway if we would sack him who would we hire right now?

Sacking is easy, hiring not so much.

I think you either have to sack early (i.e. now) or wait until the end of the season. Panicking in February if we’re in an actual relegation fight rarely seems to end well.

He's obviously not going to be here this time next year but might as well give him to the end of the season and get a full-time proper appointment. Try and keep some stability with the squad as it is and then get a top manager in the summer if we can.

It's all Mourinho's fault he's destroying the whole team with his negative defensive football. We need a new manager. Oh wait...

Keep him for now, I really don’t think we’re that far away. I absolutely get the sense that things are moving in the right direction but hasn’t quite clicked yet.

Enough with this please. James was given to us by Giggs, Maguire was the worlds most expensive defender not some gem Ole identified, and Wan was last years most talked about right back in the premier league. Ole hasnt discovered anybody. But he did decide to spend his whole transfer budget on defense and lead us into the new season with a worse midfield and attack than last year.

Honestly do not think sacking him now would have any kind of positive impact. We'll stick with him until Christmas, at least.
Why not sack him now?

Only 7 games have been played so far which means there are still 93 points to be won. If he gets the sack now, there may still be hope yet to make top 4. If United wait till Christmas, the horse would have bolted.

The attacking football we were promised isn't there, the results aren't there. 90% of the players have massively deteriorated under his watch. The players didn't even look like they trained together last week. They were ponderous, insipid and laboured. Our best chances came from Arsenal's corner(when they left the backdoor open). How long can this continue? Until we are sucked into relegation waters?

What's the point is sacking him?
To have a chance for NOT seeing Lingard, Young, Matic starting games for this club. To stop playing Pogba as a DM.i

All the above is pointless and will never yield results. We need a manager who is not blind - is it such a big ask already?
