Super goal there. Byrne has been excellent since coming on and Cullen has been impressive throughout. We're still not that great but nice to see the good results continue.

How did we look? Still shite?
Terrible first half, pretty decent second half. Bulgaria sat back and gave us the ball so we were faced with a very strange situation . Cullen was excellent and based on that should be in the squad for the next games. Byrne looked excellent in a sub appearance and Collins scored on his debut (was actually an excellent worked goal). Very much a second string team from us.

Obviously Doherty comes back into the squad when fit but do people think McCarthy and Long come back in if they get games under their belt? Personally I think they have to, we haven't got the selection to ignore them really.

I was at the game last night and it was dire, in the first half. The second half was good. Jack Byrne was brilliant. It was weird amazing seeing a player in an Ireland shirt actually demanding the ball. It was only a friendly against Bulgaria but he looked capable.

I don't see why Hogan plays at all. He's shocking. Collins showed far more when he came on.

A fit Shane Long has to be in the squad. I don't understand why he isn't.

Cullen looks a good prospect.

Kenny working his magic again. Best coach in the country
Hopefully he gets more than one campaign to implement his plan. He is a manager for the long term but I fear the FAI will give him the boot as soon as we don't qualify for the World Cup. He has to be given the time and patience that he needs. Otherwise it'll be Brian Kerr mark 2.
There seems to be a few players coming through that will be playing in the next campaign. Things don't look as bad as when Martin and Roy were in charge anyway.

I don't doubt that Kenny is a good coach. But he has taken over a very gifted group of players. So he has a big advantage over previous U21 managers.

Exciting times though:

Parrott Robinson

Stevens-----Brady---Hendrick-----Doherty

Cullen

Egan------Duffy-----Collins

Randolph

That could be our XI in the not too distant future. And some other good options like Maguire, Obafemi and Hourihane. Hopefully McCarthy can find some fitness and form at Palace. Travers might be able to push Randolph in a year or two if he can find regular football somewhere. Good times ahead.

Right coach at the right time. He knows how to develop young players

Molumby in ahead of Hendrick. Aaron Connolly will hopefully make the grade too

This Keogh story is absolutely nuts.

Stayed out drinking with two others on a teambuilding night out, didn't take cars home that were laid on for them, eventually ends up being a passenger in a drink-driving incident and his season is over with a knee injury he sustained in the crash.

Crazy stuff. Good job John Egan is playing well

There's defo a lot more to this. Delaney would not give up his outrageous golden handshake demands easily
"In a statement, issued late on Saturday night, it was stated that: “The Board of the Football Association of Ireland announces the resignation with immediate effect of Executive Vice-President and former CEO John Delaney. This follows talks between the parties. The FAI will fulfil certain notice and pension obligations as agreed between the parties.

Both parties have agreed to make no further comment."

Ain't giving up anything, rather making off with daylight robbery. Severance package with a pension and no doubt a deal to cover all the illegal shit he did. Bankrupts the FAI and gets off scot-free with even more of the FAI's money.

Until there are criminal proceedings brought against him then the FAI is a joke and no doubt will continue to be a joke as they protect him.

About time in regards to Delaney. On another topic, anyone see the pic of Keogh's knee after the drink driving incident? Looks gruesome as hell.

Looks a very exciting young talent judging by how he played today.

With Troy Parrott also coming through and some other exciting young players dotted around clubs in europe could be exciting period in next few years.

I know FAI are derided but giving Kenny the job after 2020 might actually be a masterstroke.

I just hope this quick call up allows us sufficient time to smother him with unrealistic expectations to the point where he has to leave social media. Otherwise, what's even the point?

He did really well today. Exciting times.
Yeah, we haven't had a forward of note for ages and watching Connolly yesterday I was reminded a bit of Carlos Tevez.

If young Troy Parrott at Spurs emerges too then we'll have a tasty looking forward line in the near future.

Sooner we get Kenny in to manage the senior team the better for them and us

You're probably right but I can wait. I'm more concerned about the players we have. There's been a shocking lack of quality at international level for a long time now. Fingers crossed the eligibility issue around Daniel Crowley and Ryan Johansson is sorted in our favour.

Listening to the Second Captains interview with Matt Doherty. Comes across like an interesting guy, though I'm not sure I'd believe all of what he says. But one of the bits he spoke about was how, after O'Neill was sacked, Doherty went on 2FM and was critical of O'Neill (albeit Doherty seemed to suggest it was all inadvertent) and O'Neill rang him later shouting at him and calling him a tosser a few times. Quite funny.

No I reckon we should give ourselves a bit more credit than that.

As you were.

Under 21s have more than held their own so far against Italy (who have Cutrone and Kean on the bench). Molumby looks a good player and Isah has done well up front.

Never realised how huge Kean is, boy's a unit. Lots of handbags in the game. Actually Kean and Parrott just sent off. Parrott for a second yellow.

0-0. Very impressed with us tonight. First half pretty even but we definitely got the better of the second without creating many clear cut opportunities. Great to see an Irish team look so comfortable on the ball against a good side like Italy.

Kick off shortly. What's everyone's feelings going into this must win game? Georgia is always a tough away game.
I wouldn't be overly confident but we also seem to find a way to beat Georgia. Duffy header, 1-0.
