with FTD, long interview with many points brought up. Supposedly Jose was to take over from Fergie, Glazers didn't like Fergies control of the club and wanted him to retire, Herrera offered a paycut hence he walked, Ole training deemed limited etc.

Sure thing, they wanted the man who made them a shiteton of money while signing Valencia and Obertan and sellin Ronaldo, to retire, makes sense, and then they wanted Jose to replace him, the man who needs a shiteton of money to win trophies.

Makes sense.

Almost certainly BS but I do find it interesting that SAF retired shortly after Woodward was added to the board.

 yeah it’s a bit confusing re SAF. Doesn’t make any sense, especially as SAF came out and specifically stated it was his decision for his wife/family and still had major input into choosing his successor, by all accounts.

I don't like him, think he's a liar... but he talks more sense than G. Nev.

He called out Neville and rightly so.

But the Fergie bit is the biggest bullshit ever. Glazers were happy being in the background leeching off the success.

I assume it means the Glazers were to looking to go into overdrive on the commercial side, and when he soon retired they could do what they want. Of course they weren't expecting the club to freefall whist doing it

I've heard the Herrera story before. Crazy how quickly fans turned on him for essentially being treated like shit.

Yes but there were leaks he was supposedly asking for a stupid contract, making him look the bad guy and saving face for the board

That's a very interesting take I hadn't thought of at all. Hopefully it's not true (and if it was you'd hope SAF would speak out about it at some point), but with the level of incompetence surrounding the club, nothing would surprise me at this point.

The stuff about the limited coaching methods, and total lack of understanding of modern approaches to player fitness... ring so true. "The players will be fitter and more robust after a full pre season. They'll be able to carry more aggression and press much harder after a full pre season." Absolute bollocks. It's nothing more than a strategy to shred the players muscles and give them no recovery, and we're doing it for a pressing game that is being so poorly coached we wouldn't see any benefit even if they could miraculously dodge the inevitable muscle tears.

We wanted to believe that the players weren't running in April because they were chronically unfit after a lack of early work under Mourinho, but maybe they downed tools because Ole's archaic off the ball work was killing their energy levels and recovery.

Anything that paints the club in a bad light is what people believe, even coming from Castles.

Read this around the time SAF left that the Glazers wanted the duo of SAF and Gill out because of the power they held and their belief that Gill wasn't squeezing enough out of the club commercially hence the appointment of Woodward.

I know it sounds crazy considering how good SAF was but you have to remember these are businessmen not footballing men so what makes sense to them may not to us and vice versa.

Yeah, its incredible that our fans believe that stuff after seeing all the other stuff that is strategically placed in the papers by the powers that be within football. Beyond the facts e.g. Herrera left United its basically impossible to know the truth e.g. why he did it. However, is it more likely that the lad who waved to J stand as he left the club was actually a money grabbing merc, or that the Glazers wanted to cut his pay and he left because he felt he was being insulted and was easily better than Matic and Fred?

Also true. How often do the Glazers go to games? Out of the bunch only one or two ever seem remotely interested and they turn up maybe half a dozen times a year.

I'll probably watch this later.

I think the club should of appointed Jose after Ferguson. He'd of managed the transition and our older players a lot better than Moyes did.

He turns the whole Mourinho wept when he was denied the Utd job story on its head. NO WAY Mourinho took a return to Chelsea over Utd.

I believe it, in all honesty. During ferguson we weren't so successful commercially and he was probably a big reason for that as he probably didn't fancy it. The glazers want money at the end of the day, this is their company/business.

Herrera pay cut is an odd one when he's supposedly on ~70k at the time.

I can see when he was not playing as much under Jose he may have been offered a poor deal long ago. We know from an old interview in April 2018 if I recall, Herrera decided to run down his contract. Ole comes in and he's a focal part of the team and there's obviously more negotiations, as Herrera's recent interviews show. It's not possible the club offered less than 70k while being one of the main men in midfield under Ole very recently with the wages others are on.

There's also not qualifying for top 4 and the alleged pay cuts, you could use that to say he was offered a deal with a pay cut included in example a ~150k per week deal, use some artistic licence or focus on the original offer from way back when he might've known Fred was being lined up, things weren't looking good for him at the end of the 2017-18 season.

Seems more bad timing all round and we couldn't match PSG's offer.

Switch the word Glazers to Woodward, and there just might be something to that.
I'm pretty sure the Glazers couldn't care less about footballing matters, just so long as the cash keeps rolling in.
But Woodward sees an opportunity to become King of the castle...

I didn't realise people had turned on him?

I thought it was just generally agreed the club were stupid to let his contract run down in the first place. Why wouldn't you demand a better deal if you know you can go anywhere else you want for free because your club didn't bother to get things sorted sooner?

Ferguson famously didnt want his players on the likes of Soccer AM and Fantasy Football League. It does seem fishy that Ferguson left, and the club signs deals with all this shite like online dating sites and instagram sponsored tweets etc. Might be something to it.

My conspiracy theory with SAF retiring, really out of nowhere was that the Glazers wanted to replace Gill with Woodward to increase the commercial income.

SAF quite rightly, thought was a recipe for disaster and punched out. His hand grenade through the door being Moyes.

All bollocks (probably)

You mean that his wife’s sister incidentally dying around this period, causing him to make the decision to spend more time with her, as well as David Gill getting the job at UEFA was all masterminded by Woody?

They didn’t want to replace Gill, he left because he got a better job at UEFA

Yes, except you missed one bit. Woody actually put a job out for Fergie's wife's sister..

And by the time lvg was on his first preseason he was already saying the club is too commercially driven

PSG gave Herrera a 5 year contract at 30 years of age. We have made that mistake one too many times. I would have liked to keep Ander also but to give him a 5-year contract on the level that PSG did would not be responsible. The club was not in the wrong there. The "paycut" is obviously BS, but I dont think the club were prepared to offer more than a 2-year extension. Which is logical.

Castles as always knows nothing, I have no idea why people started taking him seriously. I miss when he was treated here as a clown who fabricated news for clicks which he still does.
