Yes in hindsight we should have stuck with LVG. Yes in the latter part he bored the hell out of everyone including himself.
But he had a philosophy and in the end he would have got us there. We sacked him when he won the FA Cup and got us into the 5th place.
Ole is not going to win us anything and not going to get us into even 7th.

Lvg's football bored me and the results were not great. His philosophy is outdated and would not have taken us to the next level.

It's telling that our own history told of the dangers of not planning for the succession of a great manager and, at the tail end of Fergie's reign, we were assured that solid plans were in place to stop history repeating itself. But it's STILL happened. And with uncanny similarities to the end of Busby's tenure.

We deserve everything we get.

Always ,makes me laugh when people say a certain philosophy or style is out of date! I don't think that the human race is evolving that fast that a certain style is outdated it is just whatever is 'In Vogue' at the time based on the most successful football at the time. In the 90s it was the Italian beautiful are of defence. When a team comes along and dominates with a certain style of play everyone copies it.

Well this form is not even close to being acceptable. Ole needs to go. The one good thing to come out of Norway since the cheese slicer has had his chance.
DOF in and a plan to get the manager they want installed asap.

If we did get relegated, would we struggle to win the championship ? I reckon we would get back into PL straight away but I wouldn't trust Ole to give us that title.

I agree with the poster who said united should have stuck with LVG. The football wasn't great but at least he won something and the team was in the top 4/6.

I actually rate LVG as the best of "the rest" manager wise. Two greats, Busby and Ferguson, two moderately successful, The Doc and Big Ron, and the rest, O Farrell, McGuinness, Sexton, Moyes, LVG, Mourinho and Ole.

With the problems at the club obvious, injuries coming all over the place and a run of tricky fixtures, we could easily get sucked into a situation we wont recover from. Once your in the dogfight every game becomes more difficult and the situation can snowball on you. United could get relegated. Cant believe i just typed that

I never thought the old classic line of 'too good to go down' would ever be used with United but I'm hearing it more and more this last week on the radio, news etc. A worrying trend that tells me that it really is a possibility at the moment.
If anyone has seen anything in our play since Ole got his contract that tells you we would survive a relegation battle, then I'd be interested to know what.
Ole's track record of being unable to halt a slide is well documented and we need to stop the rot. Persist with Ole and this backroom staff and we have a good a chance of going down as anyone in the league.

You can take one thing to the bank, this badly run club will not have a contingency plan in place for this scenario.

The Glazers probably don't realise clubs can be relegated. In the USA teams gain franchise & can stink up a league for years in the knowledge that they will never lose their franchise in the league. Hasn't the Glazers done similar with the franchise they own in American Football? or one of the other sports.

Yes, the Tampa Bay Bucs of the NFL... however, as bad as they may be, they aren't the worst NFL owners, nor are they as bad as the previous Bucs owner. That said, Malcolm was very good. The kids... meh...

I agree with your comments, but wasn't LVG going to retire after another 12 months? I thought that was a reason why he was sacked, so that Mourinho could be appointed while he was available. Would have been interesting to see who Woodward would have gone for 12 months later.

The scary thing Is that if we lost to Liverpool (more than likely), our next games are against Norwich away from home and Bournemouth away from home. Our away form is shockingly bad so I could very easily see us losing all 3 or only getting one draw.

I honestly think there is a realistic chance we could be in the bottom three come the start of November. My fear is that due to size of the club, can you imagine how intense the spotlight would be on the club were it to be in the bottom 3? The pressure would be absolutely immense and I just don't feel our players are mentally tough enough for it.

Ok, so you sack Ole start of November with the team in the bottom 3....... which manager or caretaker manager in their right mind would want to take the job on and potentially be remembered for all eternity as the guy who got Manchester Utd relegated?

I know this all hypothetical and worst case scenarios but it really is not far fetched at all. Scary, scary times....... and for the people saying relegation might be fun? Go and ask a Villa, Newcastle, West Ham or Leeds supporter if they enjoyed it.

I think we should pull the trigger on Ole after the Liverpool game and get somebody else. The hope being that the "new manager bounce" is enough to give us a couple of results against Norwich and Bournemouth.

They're saying that getting relegated means they can enjoy the football again. The prawn sandwich will be chaffed out. And they can call the club theirs again.

And somehow we'll end up with 110 pts and storm back to epl and win the whole thing in 2 years, ole at the wheel. Phoenix rises from the ashes and all that.

We'll be fine, we rebuilt at championship. Getting sancho kai havertz leon bailey. No fuzz guys

That does seem to be what some people actually think. The reality would be bleak. For a club of this size that also has debt payments like we have, getting relegated and failing to get promoted straight back into the Premier league could have massive long term implications (liquidation anybody?)

It's so pixelated because it's been edited to fit every single pro and college sports team in America at some point.

What does 'stuck with LVG' mean?! The bloke had one year left on his fecking contract and then fecking GIGGS was taking over!

Relegation is highly unlikely. Every year, all the relegated teams have had very bad goal differences. Which means that their defense+GK unit is bad and their offense (including offensve midfield) is bad.

Our defense+GK unit is at least good, if not very good or excellent. Seriously, who has a clearly better one? TAA is vulnerability to Liverpool. City has had problems lately. Don't even start with Arsenals defence.. We concede few goals. We can very likely draw with top sides, something that relegated sides are unable to do.

However, on the other end of the table, only teams that can score goals can reach top 6. Until that is fixed, we will be somewhere between 7th to 13th. Teams that have ways to score a lot can be quite confident that they win against lower table teams an win or draw with mid table teams.

Behind the obvious two teams, Chelsea have clearly found a way to score lot. Leicester have ways to score. Tottenham are a mess but once they get it cleared, they have may players who can score. Arsenal have ways to score, despite their defensive problems. Wolves have ways to score. If our goal scoring doesn't strengthen, we likely behind all these.

But once our offense is better, we are able to challenge everyone.

Manchester United are now the shortest price they've EVER been to be relegated

Ed Jeanes | 11:01 Tuesday 8th October 2019

One major firm has slashed odds from 1,500/1 into just 66/1.

Manchester United are the shortest price they’ve ever been to be relegated from the Premier League, following a humiliating 1-0 defeat to Newcastle.

Before the season started, United were a whopping 1,500/1 to go down to the Championship, although that price is no longer.

United’s worst start to a season since 1990 has seen bookmakers unanimously slash odds, with the same firm cutting odds all the way into 66/1.

That’s the shortest odds ever given on United to be relegated by that bookmaker, since the inception of the Premier League.

Going one step even further, one major British bookmaker has gone as short as 40/1 that Solskjaer’s side go down this season.

Since the Newcastle result, United have received a whopping 74% of bets to be relegated, dominating the market.

That’s ahead of fellow strugglers Everton (6%), Watford (2%), Norwich (2%) and Aston Villa (2%).

Norwich are currently clear favourites in the relegation market at 10/11, followed by Watford (11/10), Newcastle (6/4) and Sheffield United (2/1).

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: "Ole's at the wheel, and he's driving Manchester United off a cliff.

“It's a mark of how far the once-great United have fallen that many people aren't that surprised about the club's plight - given the state of the squad the under-qualified Solskjaer has to work with.

“While relegation is still ludicrously far-fetched at this stage, the way United are going, a bottom-half finish isn't totally out of the question.”

As someone who was taken to see the great Denis Law, Crerand, Charlton and the rest when a child and followed the team consistently even after emigrating to Oz, the last 10 years of self destruction, principally under the control of the merchant banker and the shopping centre owners has been devastating.

Like a lot of supporters in different time zones, it was nothing to set alarms to wake up to enjoy Man Utd, but since Ronaldo left it has all been downhill . There is none of the previous DNA left in the club, the players are certainly mid table level, no genuine strikers and an indifferent midfield , that has happened under the watch of the Glazers and Woodward. The stadium is now almost a relic as other teams get their act together and Utd flounders.

Until someone takes action and removes the pelican in charge and sets the club up with an experienced DOF, makes signings with a plan in mind ( look at Citeh and their front office), the spiral to Championship level will continue.

While that is an opinion from the other side of the world, it's easy to be a bit dispassionate when not in the media cyclone of the EPL. Like most it's tough to watch the club run by morons, still have hope that things will turn, but not confident at all under the current set up. Unbelievably sad.

Seriously? We need to score goals, Martial and Pogba coming back doesn’t guarantee that. The rest of our injuries are defensive players which even though we are losing games we don’t look that bad at the back. Problem is if we don’t score at the other end even one goal scoring chance for the opposition means we lose the game.

It sounds like ‘too big to fail’ to me. This club can easily get relegated on current form.
Do you think Ole will be allowed to remain in charge indefinitely on current form?

I don't.

Which is the point.

He's gone if this form continues beyond Liverpool. And what will happen then is likely very close to what I said.

Woodward is incompetent, ultimately, not positively insane (or raked).

But what makes you think the replacement will solve the useless squad of players we have?

Two of the most expensive can’t be arsed playing (pogba has a history of this in his World Cup winning year check how many games he put in for the club paying his wages)

Woodward is the problem so why trust him to replace his 4th manager in less than 6 years?

One wouldn't think so. But if it came to having to fight for survival, I'd rather have "men" like Burnley, Sheff, Villa and those teams have. Luckily it won't come to that point. I don'tbelieve our social media-ladshave the character to fight when the shit hits the fan. Except for Mc, Maguire, Tuanzebe and a FEW more.

If Ole stays then who knows how long we’ll be stuck in bottom half.
My biggest fear. Is that the board listen to the media and pundits like Neville and actually give Ole time not realising that you’ll never turn a dogs tail into a silk scarf no matter how long you wait.

I hope the owners realise clubs can get relegated over here unlike in American sport. Otherwise they may leave things too late

IF we are relegated then the chances of bringing in any decent players is nil plus the current lot who think they're too good for the championship would want out. On a similar note if we're struggling in the relegation zone come January, who would want to sign for us? No decent player wants to be involved in that sort of slog although if we throw enough money at them they may come but of course play terribly.
