All of you who with this Benitez shite sicken me. My father been supporting since the Busby days and he'd be sick of you lot.
The same Busby who spent his entire playing career at Liverpool and City? ;)

Benitez til the end of the season would be an enormous improvement on Ole.

Well you've read Southgate's because I believe Ed will have him at least under consideration.

Ed is going to need to get rid of Ole without looking a complete idiot. The only way I can see him doing this is by claiming that the "strategy" bit (Young Hard Working British Players Who Want To Play For Manchester United) was his idea and is working splendidly, on the basis that this summer's three signings haven't turned to shite yet. The problem is only with the detailed execution, i.e. Ole's bit. So "upgrade" Ole with somebody who is able to run with Ed's strategy. Who is the most high profile manager of British (ok: English) players? Southgate.

For the avoidance of doubt, I think the strategy is an idiotic one. In any case, the Glazers will think so soon enough when they realise the cost involved in desperately going for hyped-up players from wealthy mid-table Premier League Clubs.
There’s clearly no strategy with Ole though, the whole thing is utter waffle. I mean what’s he actually done, sign some British players? His whole supposed ‘philosophy’ is total and utter nonsense as we play totally directionless football with no semblance of style or cohesion.

Southgate isn't a good manager either. He has some unbelievably talented attacking options available to him and yet his football is dull and bland. He also doesn’t strike me as an inspirational figure. Don’t give me that ‘run’ in the World Cup either, I mean it was a piss easy run. Wales’ run in the Euros was far more impressive and look how Coleman fared when he went back to managing at club level.

We’re an utter mess and as you alluded to, there is no ‘strategy’ in place. We had our chance to make some sort of amendments after we sacked Jose but we ended up with Ole.

I lot is said about OGS signings. They’ve all made great starts but it’s assumed by people that under his management and coaching that this will continue and the 3 players will continue to develop and improve. Do people really think that’s the case? There’s also the possibility that under Ole they start to stagnate or even regress
Nice to see some hindsight. We have yet to see a player improve under Solskjaer's tenure this is one of his issues. It's all good having a vision but if you don't have a clear plan (tactics) it will ultimately fuel disappointment. This is a life lesson the fact Ole can't piece it together in the constraints of football with 10 years of managing is ridiculous. He's gone end of this season.

Rafa will absolutely take the role if it pays well. He is getting paid well right now and I think the prestige of managing Manchester United will sway him. However, he will need to be backed to get us to some sort of a competitive state.

What we’re seeing right now in the squad, and the pressure that is on Ole and the board is exactly why I have always said...No top teams in this modern era have the luxury of a rebuild. There is no patience for it.

A huge club like us need to be able to compete week in and week out. Hence, we need a manager who knows how to win NOW and compete NOW and we need seasoned proven players even if they may be older. In parallel, the rebuild happens in the background by buying and developing young and up and coming talents. Seeding them into the team of experienced players to gain match experience and confidence.

The more we’re accepting of an awful manager & awful results the less of a big team we’ll become.

Fergie would punch someone if they hired Benitez. I mean it wouldn't be the worst thing if Woodward took a chinner for being an utter knob.

Benitez after all his anti-United anti-Ferguson bullshit? I'd have bloody Rodgers first and I'd rather have Herpes before even that white-toothed shark-faced charlatan set foot in OT.

Come on people, Benitez?! Get a grip. I’d rather be relegated with Ole.

Yup. The fact that he's the worst manager in the league over the last 17 games and the fact no other PL team would give him a job says it all.

Bollocking about fluently.
@MisterLupus I find Solskjaer a lot more cuplable than you do. I'm sure our coaching staff knows football better than me, which is why I'm not suggesting myself as a candidate to replace them, but I think I'm capable enough to recognize when something - like their work - is not good enough.

Having said that, I have no issues with your roadmap. I'm no fan of Solskjaer as a manager and I would replace him in a heartbeat if we had a top class alternative lined up, but we don't. So right now, I'm OK with sticking with him unless things go from bad to worse within the next 2-3 months.
Well we'll have to disagree on that - I don't consider this particular staff world class or even close but I don't believe for a second they're halfwits either as so many suggest (seriously the negativity of some posters is so exaggerated you'd think they were toddlers and blind ones at that) - I highly doubt it's the coaches teaching them to make such a mess of themselves in the final third because they've done a lot right elsewhere and nobody could ever convince me that Solskjaer of all people don't know what it takes to be successful in attack and score goals. I'm finding it way more conceivable that the players themselves simply lack what it takes to pose a proper threat - that we need new players. We have to rid ourselves of seniors who simply aren't good enough to carry us back up (in fact some of them are so mediocre they're currently dragging us down) and also find enough quality reinforcements for our youngsters to get pushed into the background a bit and allowed some time and space to mature. Rashford shouldn't be a starter - both him, McTominay and even James are good rotation options (don't get me wrong I love them) but they're being asked way too much presently and particularly in Rashford you can see that written all across his face that he's in desperate need of some chillaxing. I believe with the right material Ole and his crew can rebuild this team - that they're on the right track towards something being hampered only by circumstances most managers would struggle with and that they too will become better at what they're doing as they gather experience. I know he looks way past his age these days but he's still only 46 - his staff too of similar ages - and that's young for someone coaching a top side.

But we agree on the important part at least - and also it's refreshing to see someone just @whatevering me rather than quoting that entire wall of text over and over again

Oh I quite agree.

I'm just predicting a means by which Ed can extricate himslf from the disastrous appointment of Ole, an appointment made all the more disastrous by his failure to provide Ole any support by way of a DoF, without looking a total idiot. Getting Neville and the red tops on board by bigging up the Buy British strategy, and then passing it off as his (Ed's) own idea rather than Ole's, seems to me the only way.

I also laughed at Chelsea's policy of sacking managers but that really worked well for them. New manager, title/trophy, sack, new manager, trophy, sack......no long term plan shit last 15 years and they won everything in that period. Literally everything

They'll stick it out with Lampard if he's doing well. Which is how it should be, you STICK with a manager if you actually see progress, you see a plan, you see what could be, yes results may not go your way immediately all the time, but anybody can see at the moment Chelsea are actually playing well and they have a good core group of players, so it's lined up nicely for Lampard, nobody expects the title or anything from them this season, but I guarantee you every Chelsea fan will be happy because they are clearly seeing some nice attacking football that Lampard has implemented and they are finally seeing the fruits of their academy, they are seeing what could be a good future for them.

This happened with Klopp at Liverpool, didn't start out that well, but you could see the plan and now look where they are.

Chelsea sacked good managers yes, but they sacked managers that just weren't working for them and what they wanted, Real Madrid does the same thing, so does Bayern.

Manchester United are the only big team held to the standard of not sacking managers and giving managers so much time, even if every single shred of evidence points to the fact it's going nowhere, and it's hard at times to see if it's the media doing it or if its the fans ourselves holding us to this moral highground status. Being a manager is a job, you're bad at you're job outside of football, generally it's only going to go one way. Yes you are given ample opportunity to turn things around but usually on the flip side you aren't given a job you are massively underqualified for either.

You don't see the single bit of evidence there is any plan whatsoever with Solksjaer on that pitch, hell, everyone bangs on about that PSG win we had in the CL last season, but nobody mentions the fact we only won with a penalty, an awful backpass and a spill by Buffon, other than that we were lucky and didn't play well.

I’d love them to put that to Neville actually. What makes our way of stick to the manager without fail any better than what they do? Cheaper yes... but more productive?

For every Chelsea there is a (more than one) Milan, the main difference being the quality of the squad available to whatever manager is in charge.

You know what, Southgate is starting to seem a really frightening and likely possibility for me.

English. "Gets the league", "man of tradition", "uses youth", "respects United and knows what the club's history stands for".....most importantly, and this will not be issued as soundbites or quotes:

"Will be chuffed to be here and will not rock the boat and demand big money signings / will play Chongy every week".

PAH!!!!

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer privately blasted his players after their 1-1 draw with Arsenal, according to reports.

The Red Devils were insipid in their stalemate against Unai Emery's side eight days ago and, in the time since, have drawn and lost to AZ Alkmaar and Newcastle in the Europa League and Premier League respectively.

Manchester United's dire form has led to talk Solskjaer may be about to leave and The Sun say the Norwegian's patience is beginning to run out.

The report says that, after the game against Arsenal, Solskjaer labelled the performance as 'c***' inside the Old Trafford dressing room.

And the United manager also told them NONE of the squad would make the team Sir Alex Ferguson had at his disposal during Solskjaer's time as a player.

Solskjaer won the lot under the Scot and it appears he thinks none of his current crop of players would get into the legend's old sides.

Against Newcastle on Sunday, United fell to a 1-0 defeat at St James' Park.

And an incredulous Solskjaer supposedly expressed his disbelief at how Matty Longstaff was able to outperform all of his midfielders.

Not only that, but the United boss also criticised his players for what he perceives to be a lack of commitment.

And they went away for the international break with the Norwegian demanding they take a look at themselves and sort out their attitude.

No chance to Southgate. If he has sense which I think he does, he sticks to that England job for as long as he can. He has it made there. Would seem crazy to jump back into club management after how uninspiring he was for Boro.

:lol::lol:. Has he told them how to get a shot on target though. Has he told McTomminay and Fred to move 30 yards more forward?

I doubt it and on that note, he won't be hear much longer. Mr Tough guy!!

One of the worst decisions of all by Ole is still yet to hit us. Amidst Pogba's agent and brothers openly calling for a move away, Ole has stuck to this idea that Pogba would just tell him he wanted to move. It was very naive. And very likely Pogba is gone this summer and we are going to have some task on our hands to replace him on top of all the other weak spots in the squad.

And that’s the simple question I don’t understand why football experts like G Neville, journalists, etc don’t ask.

The plan is to buy “ Young British talent” great plan but those players will still have to be developed... in fact they will need even more development and improvement then relatively experienced players like Salah, VVD, Kyle Walker, etc who have improved since joining their clubs.

The best way to see if Ole is the man to turn a plan into action is to see how he’s developed the young talent that he already has at United and in 10 months there’s been nothing.

Only Ancelloti didn’t deserve the sack. Beyond that they usually sack managers when it’s obvious they made the wrong choice or things are beyond repair

Well it’s been nearly 8 months not 10 months if you take the closed season into account and the fact he took over on the 19th December.

How much youth development did you expect in the first few months or the summer break?

When I hear fans say Ole is at the wheel, I have to laugh. Ole is not at the wheel, He is a few seats down. Ed Woodward is at the wheel, but the problem is Woodward does not know how to drive. He has one foot full on and the accelerator to the ground, and the other foot full on the brakes.

I come into this thread expecting to hear of managers around the globe that are doing interesting things and could be options. Instead I'm seeing Southgate and the fat cnut Benitez.

Now I'm convinced this place is inhabited by opposition fans that are here to enjoy our agony.

Benitez, Southgate...it's almost laughable. Wenger was a stupid enough suggestion last week.

Well a coach like Biesla completely changed 14th place Leeds style of play in pretty much one summer.

So yeah since December would expect a style of play, and our young players like Rashford to show noticeable improvement if Ole was actually a good coach.

Not sure when he came in or under what circumstances but Ole had to firefight the first few months, then it went south as the season closed out. Then it was holiday time. We start the season, starts ok then falls apart due to injuries, lack of options and general shit performances from certain players.

Firing Ole will not solve much, we will be back here arguing in 12 months
