One major firm has slashed odds from 1,500/1 into just 66/1.
Manchester United are the shortest price they’ve ever been to be relegated from the Premier League, following a humiliating 1-0 defeat to Newcastle.
Before the season started, United were a whopping 1,500/1 to go down to the Championship, although that price is no longer.
United’s worst start to a season since 1990 has seen bookmakers unanimously slash odds, with the same firm cutting odds all the way into
66/1.
That’s the shortest odds ever given on United to be relegated by that bookmaker, since the inception of the Premier League.
Going one step even further, one major British bookmaker has gone as short as 40/1 that Solskjaer’s side go down this season.
Since the Newcastle result, United have received a whopping 74% of bets to be relegated, dominating the market.
That’s ahead of fellow strugglers Everton (6%), Watford (2%), Norwich (2%) and Aston Villa (2%).
Norwich are currently clear favourites in the relegation market at
10/11, followed by Watford
(11/10), Newcastle
(6/4) and Sheffield United
(2/1).
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: "Ole's at the wheel, and he's driving Manchester United off a cliff.
“It's a mark of how far the once-great United have fallen that many people aren't that surprised about the club's plight - given the state of the squad the under-qualified Solskjaer has to work with.
“While relegation is still ludicrously far-fetched at this stage, the way United are going, a bottom-half finish isn't totally out of the question.”
