To be fair, you have to admit he was not backed be the Board. Two more Players in the summer and things would have looked better. But that has been a continuous mistake by the United board. And when they have opened the purse they Went for the wrong players: Mata, Sanchez, Martial, Pogba, Maguire...

Everton was where Moyes produced his best in management and Everton haven't been a top level club since the mid 80s.

Moyes was never United standard and is now maybe not PL standard but his career at Preston, Everton and even West Ham is way more impressive than getting Cardiff relegated and managing some pub team in Norway.

My lot Wycombe are flying high in league 1 (2nd) having come up from league 2 2 years ago. We have most likely a bottom 4 in division budget so Ainsworth is doing excellently.

Why don't championship clubs look at him, rather than the Pardew, Hughes types who have been constantly sacked?
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're not at the moment, but surely Reading for instance should learn from going fancy name?

I had that feeling of embarassment that day after seeing his reaction and I kid you not when I tell you many caftards thought it was awesome would celebrate drawing at home vs Fulham like he had won the PL.
That moment epitomised how out of depth he was
He celebrated after the go ahead goal, not the equalizer.

You can't include martial and Maguire in that list.
It should be the di maria, falcao, schweiny, schneiderlin types

David Moyes hopes to reach 1,000 games as a manager

He revealed he has had "lots of opportunities just now to go back to work but most of them have been in the English Championship".

"I've managed most of my career in the Premier League, so that's the level I expect to be at," he said on BBC Radio Scotland.

Amazing. Thinks he can have a poor string of jobs yet cruise on back in at Premier league level!?

Should be flattered championship teams are coming to him. Can't imagine any set of fans would be too enamoured by that appointment!
His last job was at West Ham and he kept them up comfortably in the end so he would argue he's still effective at this level.

I agree though feels like his time has passed now unless a club gets really desperate and lacks options. Can't see him going back to Everton.

Can we ban any threads on this guy please. Still feel sick whenever his name is mentioned.

I just don't understand why these clubs rotate amongst people who have failed 2 or more times at other clubs.

Why not go for some up and coming lower league manager who has known only success?

Moyes is a breed of manager that is outdated in the Premier league today.

Chris Houghton was doing a great job at Brighton but they still sacked him, as even the smaller clubs in the Premier league are hoping to find a new innovative Eddie Howe type manager, who plays nice football and turns exciting potential into stars.

Football evolves quickly and if you don't adapt like Fergie always did then you get left behind like Mourinho, Big Sam, Moyes, Wenger, Van Gaal etc have been

I do think we'd have been better if the board backed him. Moyes did get a pretty rough hand. However, he was never going to be a long term success and I think we'd have just finished top4 if the board had backed him.

He's a pretty good manager though if you consider world football. Any aspiring mid table premier league team would take him. He did alright with West Ham and Sunderland was a lost cause.

At least he seems to have let go of the delusion that he's a Champions League level manager despite having never qualified for the competition.

Progress.
He did with Everton

Would you sack the existing assistant coaches as well?

Depends how charitable or strict you want to be.

Some might say he qualified for the 3rd qualifying round and not the competition proper.
I don't think its a matter of subjectivity but logic. If you get knocked out in the Champions League qualifiers then logically you haven't qualified for the Champions league.

Oh really?

Who did Everton play in the group stage that year he qualified then?

They're officially listed as Champions League games. The Qualifiers, Group Stage, and Knockout Stages are all the Champions League.

You qualify for the group stage, not the "Champions League".

Correction they're officially listed as Champions League qualifiers.

You have to win them to qualify for the Champions League tournament proper. The goals scored in them don't count towards Champions League goal scoring totals which says it all.

Its the same as World Cup qualifiers, they're officially listed as World Cup qualifiers. But if you lose the qualifier/play-off then you haven't actually qualified for the World Cup have you?

I'm beginning to think Moyes is living rent-free in a few minds here.

The qualifying rounds are Champions League matches however way you want to cut it. He got there with Everton, which was quite an achievement. It's that simple.
