90 million.
But without another solid midfielder we are going down.

Would go for McGinn as well if Villa will sell.
He's impressed me. Works hard, gets into the box a lot without shirking defensive work. Would have been a good signing to play alongside Pogba in a midfield 3 in front of I guess McTominay.

Exactly! people get blinded by the English tag. Also the same people who overrate him will put him under the bus the moment he has a few bad games!
It is too easy to get caught up in hype created by the English press. The same group who believe Andy Carroll would be some kind of world beater. A big guy with off-field 'issues' who has trouble controlling a football.

I've seen a lot of McTominay and Rice and while i am not wetting myself with either, it is the Scot who has shown the most improvement in his game.

If we are talking about players who will make the difference for United, Rice even if he were half the player people say he is won't change our fortunes which revolve around a transfer policy that fails to replace outgoing players with quality.

Put Rice into our side right now and results would not change.

We need to be a threat in front of goal. And to be that threat you need at least one goalscorer and a midfielder with inventive nous that can pull the creative strings. We have lacked in midfield for years and Rice is just another Schweinstiger/Schneiderlin pretender that won't hurt teams the way we require.

Absolutely. Add to the fact we don't have any tactical setup or the know how to develop young players ( other than just throw then in the fire and let it mould them technique)

That midfield would cost us £200m+ and we should be getting far more quality for that sort of money.

Give Jimmy Garner a few games first before we go balls in for this lad.

Exactly. People is getting too much into this Brexit thing.

Rice,McGinn,McT, Maddison - feck that's 200m and is so uninspiring.

I just don't get it with this lad

Seen nothing from him to suggest he's anything more than an average midfield destroyer. Poor passing, poor ability to deal with the press and he's not exactly outstanding defensively. Would be a mistake to go for him imo, especially with the type of fee West Ham would command.

Really don't see what the fuss is about, has been nothing more than average in any of the games I've watched him in.

Not much of a destroyer either, tbf.

He is a decent PL player, has no class on the ball whatsoever. If he doesnt defend well and intercepts/reads the game, you are playing with 10 men. Gets found out on the international stage against decent opposition away from home shocker.

What does Rice do that McTominay can't do? I can't see anything in the way he plays that indicates we need him.

A bit better tracking back. McTominay is playing better and Rice had a poor game tonight, but so did the likes of Henderson and Sancho around him. He's also younger

If we had Rice we wouldnt play Fred or Matic. So thats the main bonus

Not sure we should sign him unless its a good deal money wise. I doubt it will be

Are you seriously suggesting Rice and McTominay as a thing. For United. God help us.

A lesson for anyone wanting to switch to England. Where was the BBC's 'best forward line in international football' tonight? Lad should have stayed away from a country who roundly hated on their best players in the last 30 years. Would be supported in Ireland win or lose.

Average is an improvement on a bunch of our players including Fred, Matic, Mata and Lingard
Whilst that's true, it's no reason to sign a player. Not for that kind of cash anyway.

He broke into a West Ham side at a tender age. What they fail to mention is that it was a midfield containing the likes of Grandpa Mark Noble and Jack Wheelchair. It's no great achievement and he's nothing special. He'll go the same way as Reece Oxford and fade into obscurity in a year or two.

Perhaps another case of media hype then?

If we keep Ole in-charge in tandem with his staff, we'll blow Maguire type sum on him and Maddison but still not be much better if at all. Avoid.

Mostly. And even moreso as he was in the middle of a tug-of-war between England and Ireland. Only time will tell, but I certainly wouldn't want another hype job joining us for an extortionate fee.

That midfield dominated us years later.
