who do you suggest to get on a short term basis that would bring more to the team? i'm not expecting him to be a starter. i dont even think we will spend 50m in the window unfortunately but have holes all over the squad

We can trigger Partey release clause and buy Ziyech. Ziyech for 35m can be a good back upto in case if we get Sancho in next summer.

History has proved you wrong! I liked Mourinho, and i still do! And I have done my research on Ole. I suggest you and all the reactionary posters do the same! The first team IS capable. Second string is mid table, at best. What they are doing now is championship standards. Just like Ole supposedly told them. This is where the club is at! And no new manager is going to change that! It will be the same all over. Mourinho didn’t exactly do the club any favors having them players overachieve into second, did he?
Any decent manager would beat Newcastle with the team we put out. Newcastle would swap thier team with ours any day of the week and so would any of the at least bottom 12 plus sides. A new manager would change that. Steve Bruce would beat Newcastle with our team. Enough Ole excuses.

They need to do in January what they should have done in the summer, and it will take a LOT to get in what they need.

Doesn't matter how bad we have done until then, but our targets need to stay same and on route as we took this summer. Need a complete midfielder and a versatile forward. Rest have to stay until summer 2020.

HOW WE GET BACK TO THE CL IN JUST ONE SEASON

1. Ole stops playing shit tactics
2. Players stop playing shit
3. Fans stop saying Ole Out
4. We go all out in January and buys Håland, McGinn and a DLP
5. We get top four or EL title
6. We buy Sancho, Maddison or Fernandes and a back-up CB

DONE.

Wilson maybe, but there isn't a chance Zaha will come back to Manchester.
Yes there is, Zaha would leap at the chance given such an opportunity, not a shadow of doubt about that.

We need like 5 new Starters: In order of importance
CAM
ST
DM
RW
LB

If we can secure at least 4, we can definitely challenge top 4.

We are not signing anyone in January, with or without Ole in charge.

It's just a smokescreen to raise a bit of morale because we are fecking dogshit on the pitch and a shambles off it. January will pass with a few rumours, nothing will happen then the next smokescreen will be the big one - the big, long, drawn-out briefings to encourage season ticket renewals.

  • "Summer warchest"
  • "X, Y and Z have been sounded out (Sancho, Maddison, etc)"
  • "Lots of players want to join this project in the summer"
  • "DOF is prime concern"

For what it's worth, when he was on loan at Cardiff a guy I know saw him in a nightclub (he'd had a few) and he flat out said he fecking hated United and wanted out full-time. I would bet a lot of money he would not leap at any such opportunity.

Ideally we should have gotten a two midfielders a RW and a striker, but the top priority imo is a striker and a CM of sorts. If Ole is to survive the full season he must shop in January, because it is pretty cleat the squad is lacking

Dani Olmo should be a priority. Bruno Fernandes for midfield. I am not sure which striker we would go for

I would take Erikssen over any of Mata/Pereira/Lingard anytime.

My guess is Ole sacked in December, and the propaganda machine will be cranked up with the excuses of the new man needing to asses the squad before making and rash decisions, maybe a few leaked stories about a DOF coming in.

True but does he want to come to us and will the club let him join us knowing that Real and Bayern are interested?

I'd probably disagree with that statement - the squad we put out was beyond bang average and disjointed. The question should be would any decent manager have put that squad (injuries aside) and formation out on the pitch??

Fernandes, Dembele (or Mandžukić) are all very doable.

Eriksen might be worth a shot, Levy would definitly sell, the player might want to wait for madrid though.

If we were to end up with Fernandes & Mandzukic; 2 players who were readily available in the summer I will seriously lose my s***.

If those transfers happen anyone clinging to the hopes there is a method to this ‘rebuild’ should be sent to storm Area 51.

We may not get the players we want in January, but if we want a quick fix we should go for Mandzukic and Rakitic. Maybe on loan.

In the Press Gossip thread, they say we may go for Cavani for free in the summer, that is some serious man crush from Ed. How long has he been after him? For a team who was supposedly going young we will be going old mighty quick.

Because of our inability to draw players to come here now, this was never going to continue. Woodward has the final call on Everything and this will bring the club down no matter who the manager is.
He doesn't know anything about football, so should step away completely from this side of things, and allow someone who does.

Fernandes, Haland, Dani Olmo, Longstaff, McGinn, Partey, Frazer should be doable (not saying get all of them but these are a few options).
Out of those I think Fernandes is the only one doable in January, but him and Mandzukic ( short term) would be a very welcome improvement to us.

I doubt we'll sign anyone, we'll just say the right people weren't available and they don't want to panic buy.

It happened with Maguire last year. There's no reason this board wouldn't do it again.

Mandzukic would scream panic buy I have an obsession with the guy from my FIFA days years back so would generally love to see him in a United shirt but his bargaining position would leave the club with a multi-year deal for a player we obviously don’t actually want otherwise we’d have signed him in the summer.

Was looking at players who's contract expire this summer;

- Eriksen
- Fraser
- Gotze

I'm not sure how many of those would want to move in Jan, or clubs would want to sell. All three would definitely improve us, but i suspect all three will have better options in the summer.
That would be excellent, some players that can retain possession and create.

Midfield is so weak it’s hard to believe. When Pogba doesn’t play we are so so dysfunctional it’s untrue and not hugely better when he does play.

The fact that Pereira is starting for United shows how poor the midfield options are, he should never be starting for us.

We will still be light on goals but it’s obvious we would improve a lot with a few quality additions to midfield.

If our keeper and defence are fit then we can wait to upgrade Shaw in the summer.
Strikers of the quality we need are not attainable in Jan.

I believe it’s really important to make a few decent signings in this Jan window, give ourselves a head start for the continuing rebuild in the summer and takes the pressure off a little.

Will improve negotiations with selling clubs also if we are not desperate to upgrade almost every feckin’ position in the summer.

I Just don't know what to think. Will Ole be sacked , no DoF, what is the strategy of the club going forward. So with no answers to the above, what signings are we going to make in Jan and who is having the say on who we buy.

It just gets more depressing the more you think about it.

Already said after our dissapointing summer that this January would be immensily important if we want to keep in touch with the top 6. Doubt we will do anything of note though.

What about Fernandes in January. He would come here in a heartbeat. It's down to if Ole wants him, and Woodward pays the price.
Mandzukic and Fernandes would solve some of the problems.

Celta Vigo have some good depth in central midfield. Lobotka, Okay and Beltran competing for two places. Then you have Rafinha who can play there who currently starts on the right, but could make the transition if the manager wanted both him and Brais Mendes in the 11, and of course Suarez can play in the middle, too.

With that said, I think it'd be relatively easy to purchase Lobotka in January, and he'd seemingly only cost around the £20m - £30m range, which, in today's market for a player I think is quality, is quite cheap!

Personally I'd like to see Emre Can and Marc Roca come in both very getable and wouldn't cost a fortune, move to a 4-3-3 formation, as well as a forward of either Dembele or Wilson.

Mandzukic would scream panic buy ......would leave the club with a multi-year deal for a player we obviously don’t actually want otherwise we’d have signed him in the summer.
Exactly this..^^
Short term fix, and we've tried this sticking plaster solution far too often in recent years.

There should be a very significant budget available, considering the Lukaku funds, and I do think that we could tempt players from Europe IF the likes of Bruno, Partey and Moussa Dembele are on Solskjaer's shopping list. If they are on the list..!!
I do think that there is some substance to the Dembele links, and I'd be optimistic that we could land him in January.

Domestically, it's really difficult to imagine striking a deal for lets say Maddison or Rice in mid season, but you never know.....

Honestly, I wouldn't be completely shocked to see us land both Maddison & Dembele in January, but then I also wouldn't be completely shocked if we signed Ozil & Mandzukic, or absolutely no one at all.....!!!

On the other side of the coin, I'd be hopeful that we can get rid of Matic in January for a few bob...

Will only be important if we have a new manager when it comes.

Under Ole it will be totally pointless.
