Pogba and De Gea out injured for Liverpool clash

I think its a bit disrespectful to Manchester United players to put quote marks around the words 'injured' in the thread title. They deserve the benefit of the doubt. Paul Pogba, whatever his failings - God, I don't blame him for wanting out of this mess - has always been willing when fit. De Gea was apparently injured on international duty. I have great respect for DDG's stance as per a recent very raw and brutally frank interview. Here, Caftards and posters and fans down the pub. Get off the backs of the players. I know they are a mixed bunch. That's not their fault. I have a fair bit of sympathy for them. The club is a shambles from top to bottom; and they must know it. How does Maguire feel, ffs?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is quite a ways out of his depth. He is developing Moyesian lines on his face. Point the finger instead at that pig-faced clown who poses as the club CEO, stinking the place up with his smug grin; or go mad altogether and join those of us who have come to the conclusion, late in the game, that the club will only preserve its identity and colour if/when the Glazers feck off back to corporate America, away forever from Manchester United, so we can all put this sorry episode behind us, like some kind of bad dream.

Such as that he was feeling fine and played the game, got through the game fine and then in practice later the problem occured again.

Players put pressure on themselves to get fit again and if they say that they feel fine you can't as a manager just think they're lying if they are performing in training.

Or no, I'm talking shit. There are always just two option. Everything is black and white all the time. Easier to think about things and understand them that way.

Ok respect your opinion. Just thought it was nuts to bring him back against Rochdale when a bit more rest could have helped.

It's a bit of a weird one because Ole said that Pogba was sore by the end of that game and that the ankle subsequently swelled up. So it seems that he aggravated his injury during the game.

To the idiots insinuating Pogba is faking injury cop on. The man has never hidden and even if you are stupid enough to think he is the type to well he wouldn't have skipped the last two internationals for France.

Fans like you have also let him down.

Let's be Frank. Pogba's love for the ball and their press was a match made in hell and we are certanly not going to dominate them with or without him. So prehaps a few successful counters and hope for the best at this point.

Interesting thought. Its all on the board for keeping a fairweather player against his will who publicly said he wants out
It's actually Madrids fault for not presenting an acceptable offer (remember the stories about those insulting bids?) and Pogba being disrespectful openly saying that he wanted to leave having 3 years left on his contract with only 1 buyer who were unwilling to come close to an acceptable valuation.

I'm all for bashing the board, but they have enough faults to go making more up.

De Gea and Pogba out, whats the chance OGS getting ready for his excuses?

I have seen Liverpool be shit for weeks but turn up against us and win. If this team don’t turn up then its down to OGS for not able to motivate the players to give it all.

OGS should be sacked if we don't play well.

Rushed back for Rochdale out against Liverpool. nice one Ole at the wheel.
That's hilarious when you think about it. It means our current manager is so clueless in making a lineup without a single player even against a League One side that he couldn't wait and rushed him for such a match, and the joke is that we ended up needing pens to pass anyway.

Not surprised at wantaway Pogba not being fit. De Gea situation unfortunate.

But this injury problem at United right now is unprecedented and speaks to the desire within this squad.
Love it. One player unfortunately injured, the other just a want away..

He might have but you sometimes don't know if a player is ready or not unless you try. People argue to not play him to risk it but another argument is playing him in a match where you figure you don't have to play him 90 minutes.

Rush back Pogba against Rochdale.... injure him again. Smart.

Kill everyone's muscles with grunt work before a ball has even been kicked. Smart.

No but seriously it was really important to get everyone super fit for this amazing high intensity pressing aggressive exciting flowing football we're due to start playing any game now.

No it doesn't.
Agreed. We had loads of injuries while SAF was manager. I remember us losing 3 0 to Fulham with Carrick, Fletcher and De Laet in defence because almost every defender was injured.

It takes one hell of a mental stretch to come to the conclusion that the OP did. What a ‘stupid thread’

So we rushed Pogba back to play through the pain barrier for a full 90 minutes against Rochdale.

That is some achievement in stupidity.

Under soil heating.
Tickles me that fans are blaming Ole for Pogba playing against Rochdale, it will have been 100% Pogba's call, he probably volunteered to play to prove his fitness, and it's not Ole's fault if Pogba decided to play the full 90+ minutes if as suspected he'd picked up an injury, or aggravated a previous injury whilst he was on the pitch.
There's actual video footage above of Ole saying Paul played through the pain barrier so they're both at fault. Pogba for playing when he knew he was in pain, and the management staff for knowing it also and not at least bringing him off. It was stupid to play him against Rochdale, unless you're saying the players pick themselves? If so, we have an even bigger problem than we thought we did.

The only way Ole is absolved of blame is if Pogba told him he was in pain after the Arsenal game but I think it was clear he was rushed back way sooner than he should have been.

With Garner on the bench. But it's fine because the manager knows best.

We look fecked don't we? Though the maelstrom of negativity has me wondering if we won't go on and nick this to the utter befuddlement of everyone. I mean...that's the only missing bit in the drama isn't it?

Okay why Mr. Ole played him full 90mins against mighty Rochdale? It's on him and the fitness team, like everything else at this club nowadays, nothing works fine.
This is the one huge criticism I'd have of Ole . His game management and player management is shocking . Risking Pogba in such a shit match was idiotic. There are reports coming from the training ground that the training is stupid and it's a big reason why we have so many players out with muscle injuries since he took over

I agree with your point about his game management and player management to a lesser extent, but United have pretty much had a bit of an injury crisis every season for a long time before Ole came.

Just a footnote on from previous post about Paul Pogba ....

I have been fortunate to have grown up and watch United for over 45 years man and boy as I am sure many have on here and if anyone is seriously going to tell me that this lad can lace the boots of a Bryan Robson (in particular) or a Paul Scholes or Roy Keane - then they are serious deluded and I would love to have a debate/discussion with them in the Pub sometime over a pint or two or three !
I'd say that there's a lot more I'd rather have in midfield than Pogba, not just those players.

If I was them I'd probably want to be "injured" for this game, too.
Wouldn’t want to be blamed for not being able to score, defend and playmaker all at once but some other team mates tried so it’s ok

1) It isn't unprecedented, we have an injury crisis every single season - it usually doesnt happen within 10-games though. It's completely negligent to take this squad, with its record of multiple injuries at the same time, and strip it down to a situation where you're relying heavily on 17-19yr old kids and a winger from the Championship inside 10-games.

2) Pogba is being wrapped in cotton-wool. He's told Ole he's leaving it seems, now its a case of keeping him transfer-ready until the window opens.

EDIT - DISCLAIMER
Point #2 - I have recently started a new job working on a TV/Media project that has arms within the BBC in some sense. I'm not claiming to be ITK, I'm just basing my opinion here on the fact I've been told by two guys with links to the BBC's news department - that Pogba is definitely leaving United, and this is not impossible in January.
So Ole plays him against Rochdale in a meaningless game?

Not even close, we have had it worse many times before.
