Denis Zakaria. It seems that we are one of the club that express interested in him according to Bild. However, it seems so far we never make any movement, Dortmund seems to be the only one who made the bid for about 22m Euroes in summer 2018 but rejected. Dortmund also interested this year but couldn't get him due to being too expensive.

Gladbach Dreams Of Transfer Record

So far, Granit Xhaka (27) is the player who has given VfL the highest transfer fee: Arsenal paid 45 million euros three years ago.

Now the foals are dreaming of an even bigger sum: With Denis Zakaria (22), manager Max Eberl (45) would be talkative next summer with a sum of 50 million plus X!

BVB is one of the many clubs that have already reached out to the Swiss international. In the summer of 2018, it was about a transfer of 22 million euros - which rejected Eberl then.

"We are very satisfied with Denis' development and plan with him in the long term!", Explains the sports director, but also admits: "Gladbach is and remains an association that relies on transfer fees. Of course, if there are any unethical offers, we have to deal with them ... "

In addition to BVB, Bayern (especially Niko Kovac raves about Zakaria), Inter Milan, Tottenham and ManUnited have already expressed their interest.

What do you guys think?

Matic is pretty much done for. We lost Herrera & Fellaini. We haven't sign a new DM at all, as a result Pogba is the one who is suffering now playing in DM role. It's just weird that Ole is now playing him as DM after giving him an advanced role last season. It looks to me that Ole has no choice but to play Pogba as DM because we haven't sign one.

It's not a rocket science that Pogba is our most creative player. How to get the best out of him? We need the new Matic & Herrera behind him and let Pogba utilises his strength in advanced midfielder creating our chances. There is no point signing a striker if we still keep relying on Mata, Pereira & Lingard to create our chances.

A video about him of how he plays.

Zakaria will be a perfect signing for us & Pogba. He's strong, comfortable on the ball & can break up play. A 22 years old, perfect for rebuilding process.

Based on the article, Gladbach seems to be open mind to sell their player as long as the fees is acceptable. For 50m or plus we should be in. It's basically about the same fees as Fred & Partey's release clause. Convincing Partey to leave Atl Madrid is more unrealistic than convincing Zakaria to leave Gladbach. Cheaper option than Rice.

In term of money, I think we are ahead of Spurs & Dortmund. Bayern has way too many midfield option to even dare spend big on this guy. Another note is that it seems he's idolised Pogba & Viera.

I don't know much about this player but I think buying players to get the best out of Pogba is a bad idea given that Pogba wanted to leave last summer and will almost certainly push for a move again next summer.

End of the day we need someone that we can use right now so we can achieve top 4. Our top 4 this season is also depending on Pogba. I think if the money is good, we should be able to sign Zakaria to get the best out of Pogba to improve our team for top 4. Regardless he will leave or no, I think the signing of this position is still needed for rebuilding process.

Don't know much about him other than he broke through the team a year or so ago. @Damien will know a bit more. He does have decent international experience for a 22 year old though, which is a bonus and Gladbach are a selling club. Could see this happening.

Anything so we dont need to witness Matic in the side is a major plus for me.

I love Zakaria he ticks all of my boxes as a player. He has a good engine on him, great strength, good in the air and a good passing range. He is the ideal deep cm in a 4-3-3 system and has room to improve as he has shown under Rose in a 4-4-2 system. But I would also like us to take Max Eberl from Gladbach as he seems to find new key players every time the bigger clubs buy their players. Plus I would love to see if we could get Rose at some time.

Well, one is actually a midfielder.

For example. Declan rice is never doing this
Thanks mate. But knowing Ole and the staffs, we will sign Rice. Because he's British :houllier:

How do you compare Zakaria and Rice?
The big difference is the searing pace Zakaria has over Rice. The goal Zakaria scored in the above clip was due to that factor, which Rice and many other DMs don't have in the locker. Zakaria is also physically very powerful and is brilliant at breaking lines via his driving runs. His passing is fine for a DM without being exceptional but he more than makes up for it with other stand out traits he possesses.

Would be a very good signing at 22 years old and the right type of DM to solidify the spine/foundation of the team. His current coach Marco Rose would also be a very good acquisition for us too.

Signing Zakaria would get the best out of any advanced midfielders we play. This signing wouldn't be to get the best out of Pogba necessarily, but it would be to balance the midfield in defensive and offensive transitions.

If he idolises Vieira then hes coming to Arsenal, Gladbach owe us one after foisting Xhaka on us.

Is he good enough in possession for the fast-paced PL? That's the most important bit for me, because we lack players who can play technical football under severe pressure or ones who can speed up the tempo against teams that set up very defensively.

Personally, I think this narrative is overplayed. We’re linked with him, so there must be a smidge of interest. They’d also prefer a cheaper option for the top brass!

Denis Zakaria looks very promising and talented but I'm not keen on signing him if we play him in DM because Marc Roca is the only midfielder I want to sign for DM role.

Should we be concerned that this is a young player doing well in Germany, and Bayern hasn't snapped him up yet? Meaning, maybe he isn't that great and this is just a club hyping up a player so they can flog him?

Or is it, they can't hoard everyone? Or that, wait until summer and they might do just that?

Bayern sought Marc Roca this summer according to the rumor mill.

Bayern and Dortmund both want to sign him according to Bild.

Bayern walked away from the deal because they felt the €40m transfer fee was too high. And the way Roca has started the season it seems like a very wise decision by Bayern.

No. We should be concerned if Bayern did snap him up because, then, we couldn't.

New FIFA rules are coming in to hit hoarding clubs like Chelsea. They'll be forced to shed many of their habitual loanees.

Xhaka just said in an interview at the national team this week: "I love to play alongside him, he makes me a better player".

I know Xhaka is not rated here, but that says a lot about Zakarias ability imo.

He has all the attributes to become a worldclass midfielder: Big, strong, technically gifted, can score goals, will never stop running the whole day. He also seems to be a very level grounded young man and wants to work hard to become better. Would absolutely love us to sign him. He is not a world beater yet though, but he would definetly improve our midfield options a lot.

Many clubs prefer instalment so they can spread over 3 years to 5 years term. That's why the release clause is too high as it doesn't involve instalment. Bayern is not exactly known for their big spending like Barcelona.

3.5 tackles and interceptions per game is not good enough for a DM role. He would be basically our Herrera replacement (and even then his defensive output would need to increase). He would be the balanced one of three midfielders (attacking-minded, balanced and defensive-minded) we need to sign.
