Players we could sign right now

Two players I really want United to keep an eye on are two Nigerian forwards Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen. Osimhen may be a bigger talent, but Chukwuzee is exactly the kind of right winger we need and he will be more easily available. We should be looking to sign him.

Dani Olmo is the biggest no brainer ever.
Now we are talking, saw him linked to Spurs in the summer but then that move just died down.

I probably wouldn't have taken Mandzukic at the start of the season, however we desperately need a different option up front and maybe he could provide it.

One of Mandzukic or Zlatan is absolutely necessary. Turns out we can actually play against the Chelseas and Liverpools but we've got no bite against a low block. Having a big target man in the squad is a necessity against these small time game raising clubs who know we've got no attacking player other than Pogba over 6ft and our set pieces are sh*te anyway.

Like others have said, Dani Olmo from Zagreb is a no brainer. Looks adaptable, two footed, great pass, accurate shot, comes from a football family too so is likely a good professional. We should be able to snap him up in January for around £40m. This would be Mata's replacement in the squad. My only worry is that he looks a bit lightweight and might not be a solid enough defensive work rate. A decent offer from a club like ours should be able to attract him, even if we are just a stepping stone back to Barca :nervous:

Anyone else? I've got no idea. We could do with replacing Matic but I've no idea with who.

Do you think Bruno Fernandes is an option for January?

Fight for players in January or accept the wasted season which would be so typical for Manchester United corporation.

I know it wouldn't be the most glamorous signing, but personally I would attempt to sign Giroud in the January window. Lampard is unlikely to care about keeping him, he is proven premier league standard, only has 6 months on his contract, has a good relationship with Pogba, wouldn't halt progress for any of our younger players, wouldn't be fazed by the expectation of the club given that he has played for Arsenal, Chelsea and in a WC final for France. I even think he wouldn't demand too stupidly high wages.

He doesn't bang a tonne of goals, but would bring both Rashford and Martial into the game more, and act as the target man that neither of them can really be.

Emre Can and Marc Roca, both available for 30 - 40 mil move to a 4-3-3 system and the team is looking a lot healthier.

Chukwueze is a good player but his end product is very inconsistent. Consistency should be at the top of the list when looking at new signings.

End product of James is also not very good, but he has proved to be our best attacker, Chukwueze is more experienced than DJ, has played against likes of Barca, Mardrid and Atletico and performed really well... he chips in with valuable goals as well. He will also be available at right price and his game suits EPL. Definitely worth looking at.

What? James' end product is good and he's been one of our most consistent performers, bad comparison there.

If James end product you call good, I'd suggest have another look at Chukwueze. He is at least twice the player what James currently is. It's only that he plays for a far less glamorous club and represents Nigeria. If he was English, people would be comparing him to Sancho and Sterling, and his value would be around 100 m.

I acknowledge he's a good player, I'm just saying one of his weaknesses is the inconsistency in his end product, similar to Rashford. I'd compare him to Zaha or Rashford over Sancho and Sterling.

Souness seemed to think we could "just go out and get Kane"...
I know that they look nearly identical, so it's an easy mistake to make, but it was actually Roy Keane who said that.

It was Keane but yeah, is there a reason why we can't? Apparently we have the money to spend big for the right player and if he wants out and wants to join then whats stopping us? Woodward himself said we have to do 'all we can' to get back to the top of the PL.

Unfortunately non of this will happen though because he doesn't actually mean anything he says.

Levy would demand we almost pay for their new stadium to sell him to us. I can’t see it happening.

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced we'll go for him in January. A pacy lethal hard-working young striker who can play any forward position. Exactly what Ole is looking for.

Looking forward to seeing him tonight against Napoli in the CL.

With Erling Haaland in bed with Raiola, I think Hee-Chan is the only Salzburg forward we'll be interested in.

Suggestions of Emre Can and Giroud, sad times.
In regards to Giroud, it is literally a question of timing, there is clearly better long term options out there but they will not be available in January. If the feeling is we absolutely have to get a striker in for the second half of the season I think he is the best option and the easiest to severe ties with should we want to.

I would just take him over Zlatan who comes with a massive ego and hasn't played top level football for 2 years and Mandzukic who has never played in the premier league and hasn't played at all this year.

If we could just do as Roy Keane says and go and get Kane it would obviously be massively preferential, but that just won't happen outside of a Summer window.

Too much sense being talked in here.

I like the inevitable month long chase for Longstaff then panic buying Eric Dier for 55m at the end.

We need about 12 right players. Not just one. I think Kane knows that too.
You've got to start somewhere. Any players coming in will see that James, Bissaka and Maguire have improved us so it's not like we're still at bare bones.

Kane would be paid more at United and if Tottenham don't get CL this season, I'd say we have more of a chance of getting back in before they do. He wouldn't really have much of a reason to stay at that point.

If you were a top player would you go to play with a squad light in both numbers and quality? Not if you have a good agent to advise you.

We lost 7 squad players last season, but only got 4 over the summer (including Tuanzebe). So we're starting 3 light. I don't see what Mata and Lingard give (attack-wise). Matic, Young, Fred, Jones, Pereira, Roja can be improved on. I have big doubts over Shaw and Bailly.

Those three squad places have been taken up by Greenwood, Chong and Gomes. You cant have it both ways, if we want to give youth an opportunity this is how you do it.

It probably won't end well considering his past injury history but I'm pretty much in for a loan deal for Carlos Vela if a better center forward option is not available in January.

Is Partey's £45m clause still active? If so sign him in January. A midfielder with the attributes we are in need of. Should have gotten him in the summer.

Players would rather be part of an exciting rebuild than have to compete for a spot with the likes of Ronaldo or Messi. Apart from us and City in England, there isn't many options for Kane should he force a move out of Tottenham.

Would love us to sign Ndidi but can't see him making a move for a couple of years yet

4 players we could actually sign in January. None will cost a fortune. Everyone is getable. Unlike postings by others here who can't read the subject line.

------------------ age -- position --- foot --- club
Eberechi Eze ------ 21 -- AM --------- both --- QPR
Bruno Guimarães --- 21 -- DMC, M ----- right -- Paranaense. Has Spanish passport. His season ends 8 December.
Donyell Malen ----- 20 -- forward ---- right -- PSV. Passionate player who'll score goals. No defensive contribution.
Krystian Bielik --- 21 -- D(C), DMC -- right -- Derby. Was AM at Arsenal. Plays best at DMC.

Given none of them are superstars, nor particularly big names, Woody will have no excuse for spending 4 weeks negotiating one contract. We could buy 3 in 3 days or something crazy like that! The squad lost 7 senior players last season but only got 4 in so it's currently 3 light.

Everyone will cost us double/triple their market value in January. Clubs know we are desperate and have the cash. I honestly can't see us doing a good piece of business.

Just like Fred? Signing someone from a league of that quality is always difficult.

You mean not overpaying or not buying at all? Of course we will be overpaying , that's a given. But its better than not buying at all.

Well nobody knows who's available tbh, so its hard to say. Most names listed here would be expensive gambles.

Emre Can and a Manzukic loan look to be the safest bets, though I would expect us to be fleeced in the region of £60m for Can.

Totally agree. Plus if we are hovering around 10th who in thier right mind will want to come.
