17 game winning run ended suggests not everyone can deliver it. Ole deserves credit
Ole also has better material than most of those 17. AWB, Maguire, de Gea, Rashford (in the system that was used today) and James are better than the players those other 17 managers are able to use.

Just this draw with a ultra defensive tactic at home doesnt make him a good manager all of a sudden. He might be a good manager but todays game isnt proving that he is a good manager. He used an easy, well know tactic and couldnt complain about luck today. That doesnt make him a top manager.

Good performance/point in isolation but in the bigger picture doesn't help us too much. Simply have to get at least 13 points from the next 5. No excuses now with main players more or less all fit.

My brain can't get pregnant!
 He is here because he got an offer he couldn't refuse. He is like the 3rd best paid manager in the league and his wages got multiplied 10x compared to what he got at Molde. You kind of make it sound like he dropped his amazing job and came here to save us while it's far from truth. Also this part "What hurts us United fans more is not how badly we are performing, more the fact Liverpool are so fecking good." is not true. What hurts fans like me is seeing how this great club moves closer and closer towards a complete mediocrity, hiring nothing managers like Ole and expecting him to magically turn into SAF while constantly lowering expectations and desperately looking for excuses why our managers fail. I have seen everything on this forum, from "our squad is not better than Newcastle's to "Ole is faultless". Our generally deluded fanbase is partly to blame for all this mess.
Seriously?

Great managers like Ron Atkinson?
Ah yes, because asking for some half-decent football and a few shots on target is wanting instant success, right?

Not this again, please. Really, not every Joe on the street who signed up to manage United deserves more time because Fergie did mate, mate - get over it. Moyes didn't, Ole, who shouldn't have been signed perm, sure as hell doesn't.

Couldn't give a feck about his passion and trying. When, not if, he fails, it should be clear to everyone that he's easily one of the top 5 inept managers around, if not already.
You support the glory not the club.

He said we need wins, that was pleasing. We should be disappointed at not getting 3 points today and shouldn’t just be happy about a spirited performance against the leaders. There needs to be standards.

I’ve called time on him as manager here but if he proves me wrong I’ll be delighted.

He deserves little credit for that. He put a defender on, he was playing for a draw.

Under soil heating.
Have to say the fans were fantastic today. Great atmosphere and were fully behind him. I don't think he's the right person for the job but happy to see some fight from the team today finally.

Still find it weird when you see Ole getting interviewed as Manchester United manager. Didn't feel right at the start, still doesn't feel right now. Cheers Ole, the doors that way!

Our performance in the 1st half was good.

But we were awful in the 2nd half.

Couldn't string passes at all and defended for our lives.

He's got to go.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.
(Sarcasm coming)
Ole’s got to go. Can’t even beat Liverpool. Liverpool would be shite if it wasn’t for Klopp. The only other managers who could get Liverpool’s shite players going are Poch (I know spurs are shite but Poch is still ace, he just is) and Allegri (boring but who cares - he’s ace).

Ole is the worst. Anything good that happens while he’s here is a coincidence. To be clear: if we win the players must take credit, if we lose Ole must take the blame.
(End of sarcasm)
Actually its usually the other way round.

feck off he took the game to them. Go support some one else
Took the game to them? The only thing we took is the double decker and we parked it infront of DDG. And when the momentum starts shifting away from us he has little ideas on how to stop it. 1-1 our favorite scoreline under his reign.

Fascinating to turn over from the telly after hearing football coaches and former professionals 9 out of 10 say they thought Solskjær did well tactically with the starting line up and with the tactical answers to Klopp’s tactical changes, particualerly given that Liverpool’s starting 11 was better than United’s in 10 out of 11 positions. They even gave reasons for their evaluation.

And then to come here and read 9 out of the last posts here taking the occasion to say they weren’t impressed at all because ... no reason, really.

Oh, I know, pundits don’t really know much about the game. (But couch moaners do.)

I think if people want to have a long, good moan about us playing badly when we do, they should own up to taking some time pointing out the good stuff when there is some. Otherwise it looks like they have an agenda.
It's difficult to understand. The Caf wasn't always this bad.

If it was Mourinho who delivered such a performance at home this site would have been in meltdown and he would be crucified by the media. But hey, we need to continue to drop the standards as low as possible for Ole to reach them so the top reds can say what a success he is..

First half was good and positive, not so much in the second.

I'm desperate for Ole to succeed but his one dimensional-ness is taking the piss. Yes we have a million problems with club structure and team roster, but feck me we've been shit. The results wouldn't have been as problematic if we had witnessed some form of progression but we haven't, it's been the same shit post-PSG and all the patience that was afforded to him for being a manager that's learning on the job has all but faded. If it was any other manager at the helm but him there'd be mayhem but it's Babyface1999, watcha gonna do?

He's going to see out the season regardless so I hope shit get back to the things that made many of us want Ole at the wheel. We did well against the team with the best form in Europe, but are we going to build on this?

I thought the set up was good, in the first half when he played higher up the pitch, went toe to toe against them and looked comfortable. I think they created 1 chance (Firmino’s shot) which was created on counter. Then in the second half we gave up possession very easily and when James was injured, Ole passed on some chit to Rashford, he then passed that on to the team. Post that we dropped deep and played completely different game.

first half was good, second half was poor. Ole’s change around 65 mins was very poor. When you invite team to play their game near our box then 1 lapse of concentration means we will concede.

Absolutely spot on. But some on here think it was a good idea to drop deep like we did. That tactic is one lapse of concentration away from conceding. We just decided we will not attack and simply hoof it and that instruction came from the dug out which squarely puts the blame on Ole.

When we had nothing to lose, he allowed the team more freedom but the moment we had a goal to defend and a sniff of a win, he resorted to type. He is Jose-lite with a bit more positivity in the pressers but without the CV or the tactical nous of Jose. He is not fit to lead us as a manager, nowhere near good enough actually.

With martial back and hopefully Pogba back next shortly, we need to get maximum points againt Norwich and Bournemouth. That should take us closer to top 6. Lots of teams are going to lose points to lesser teams this year.

Its getting pathetic really. People seem to forget these are the CL winners and they are in terrifying form at the moment. Considering the state of our squad and all the injuries a draw is not a bad result. I think deep down many of these miserable plonkers are actually dissapointed we did not get beat 0-5
I get the same feeling. Some people i think started to enjoy being depressed

In the first 40 minutes you could see a pattern. Quick passes from left to right who gave AWB or Daniel James a open highway to the final third. We started well with a high defensive line with fullbacks pushing forward, a dynamic midfield triangle with lots of movements who gave us options to pass the ball in tight situations.

The other good thing was that this setup explored our weaknesses quite brutally. Our lack of creativity in midfield and our inability to release the ball quick enough. Another notable thing was that as soon our defenders and fullbacks didn’t push forward we lost the initiative and possession.

Btw. Lindelöf is a liability and he reminds me of a young Jonny Evans. Weak in his upper body, to passive in duels, relatively slow in tight situations. When Liverpool took a step forward he was the first one to back off and his coward ness broke or high defensive line and gave them more spaces between the lines.

All in all a positive first half. Credit to Ole that he changed formation.

Yeah, we need midfielders who are good at defending and can pass the ball. Right now the choices are poor. I was happy with AWB in this game, he did well in the attack too. Also like you said, midfield was dynamic but they lacked the quality.

Shame we didn't continue to play like this for whole game, we just dropped off which gave them initiative. We relied on perfection from the team to bail us out, which will never happen.

I am happy we got the lead but I knew in the second half they would get more opportunities to score.
Why? Because we had run out of steam. Anyone can see it. That's why I wanted Fred to be taken off and Jones put in. Or Ole could have gone for a back 4.
The problem with Ole always has been his game management. His reading of the game is very bad.

I've no issue with parking the bus and countering. What I do find funny is the fact that its the people who hated these performances under Mourinho who are calling it a tactical masterplan under Ole. Make your mind up.

It all depends on the context obviously, when Mourinho does it against a better team, I have no issue with that. Parking the bus isn't a bad tactic in certain games, when we do it very often, against poor teams, it's horrible for viewing.

His on field management is just shit, it's no coincidence we're awful in the second halves of the game like 90% of the time.

And the same people who can't come out of Jose's arse, are moaning about parking the bus. Making your mind up.

And also not sure to whom you are directing the post, it's better you take it with them as (with all due respect) any discussion with you is just waste of time in my opinion.

Yes. Not parking the buss when we have 1-0 up, 25 mins to go, a thin squad lacking several key players and expected starters, against the CL winners who have won all eight previous games, would be pure ineptness. Pretty much all managers would do it. When you do it and the CL winners get one shot at goal and only one chance, it normally means you have succeeded fairly well with the tactic. (Disclaimer: Succeeding fairly well tactically does not equate to being tactical masterclass).

United where predictably running out of steam towards the end, as the really only option we had on the bench was a rusty Martial, and we needed James and Rashford on the pitch as long as possible to even be able to defend that way.

Klopp made three tactical changes, Solskjær came up with three tactical answers. If anyone want’s to say we didn’t do well tactically yesterday, I’ll expect them to at least be able to point out what those six changes were before they say what they think of them.

(No, I won’t. I’ll expect them to say ‘Any fool could see we should have subbed on Phil Jones and gone with four at the back’).

He played his best players yesterday. Took a gamble on DDG and it largely paid off. Glad Klopp didn't win at Old Trafford, this is his last season in England. Ole has the backing of the board as well as the fans.

Extremely happy with the performance. Disappointed with the result. The first half was beautiful to watch, the players gave everything they've had. If this is a turning point, or if it was just a one off game, remain to be seen. It could be that Liverpool allowed us to play the way we did, and we won't be able to replicate that performance against smaller teams, who sit deeper and leave us more space to operate in.

One thing I am worried about is becoming a game raising team, seem lije we raise our game only versus the big teams. It's a weak mentality to have, I don't want us to become another Wolves. The motivation we saw yesterday has to reoccur every match day, no matter the opposition. That's how you win the premier league; you beat the small teams.

We obviously lack quality as we are better without the ball then with it.

The next five league games are crucial for his future. We're playing sides that don't frustrate in a low block and will allow us to play a bit. We have to start winning again because if we can't start winning again these more expansive lesser sides then we are in very big trouble. In fairness to Ole, our troubles with low block sides precede him.

We are only 5 points off 5th so we can still turn this around.

So are the Ole out brigade still calling him a shithouse and worse?
Ole and the team definitely deserve credit for yesterdays performance but one game isn't going to change anyones opinion that he is the man to take us forward. If we had of shown as much desire in other games then the knives wouldn't be sharpening so much against Ole.

Any player or manager have to prove that they're up to the job. It's the same as any job in life (unless you're a United scout) Unfortunately Ole still hasn't proved anything and anyone who thinks he has are lying to themselves or have an agenda.

If yesterdays game is a turning point fantastic but the only proof will be better performances week in week out. Not just turning up when we want to. In the next 6 games if we can achieve 4 wins, a draw and a loss then maybe people will start to change their mind about Ole, I know I will but on the other hand if we win 1, draw 3 and lose 2 why are people going to think Ole is the man to take us forward?

Football is a performance and results based business and it shouldn't matter who you are. If the performances improve you stay, if not you go. It really is that simple.

This isn’t about the short term though and that’s were our muppet Ole out fans need to grow a pair, what happens in the next 6 games isn’t going to change the fact our squad is not good enough. What happens in the next couple of transfer windows is way more important.

His options where limited because of the poor quality of our squad. Who’s to blame for that is up to debate.

One thing I’m a little bit disappointed with is the start of the second half. It was expected that Liverpool should come out in full force and even with that knowledge they immediately forced us to our back heels. We gave up the initiative and possession a little bit to easy in my taste, we should have played more physical and used our home advantage. Apart from that it was a good performance.
