Giggs' comments didn't help at all. Carragher trying to paint the narrative that he's a faker today too, kept pointing out that he was looking up after he went down like every other player would stare at the ground or something.
I like Carragher as a pundit but that really annoyed me yesterday.

Giggs comments didn't help but the agenda started as early as the Wolves game, yesterday he was clattered like he was playing in the NFL and the ref didn't do a thing, Ole needs to address this issue publicly or the lad is going to get hurt.

Feel like punching Giggs for what he said .. James is one of the bravest players in our squad and was taking some significant hits at pace. Ridiculous this recent furore over him and Carragher was being a bellend.

This is when you miss players like Roy Keane & Paul Scholes. Virgil would have been tackled within five minutes of that cheap shot hit :houllier:  :houllier:

I saw a bunch of cheap shots from the Scousers last night and it showed how frustrated they were.

The van Dijk and Matip challenges were hard but perfectly legal. This is the Premier League isn't?

:nono: Both occasions would have been carded if Salah or some other hot shot was on the other end of the hit. This is Premier League.

The 2 Liverpool CB's body checked him, because he was too fast for them. They should have been punished. He will get hurted if the ref keeps allowing this to happen.

I'm in favour of players getting bullied for exaggerating contact. A stigma should be attached to them, it's not enough for them to be kicked at, the boos should be consistent, and they should be shamed extensively in the media. Martial imo shoud've been the EPL's whipping boy last season. Now concerning D.James, the question is ... has he got away with exaggerating contact at any point thus far? If the answer is no, then Ole needs to sound like a broken record by constantly mentioning it. On the pitch, the captain needs to protect him, and teammates should be prepared to take one for the team with cynical revenge tackles, or words expressing animosity. If there has been a case where James avoided a booking through simulation then the current treatment he's received hasn't been severe enough.

You know there is this thing called google which works a lot better instead of just asking people you dont know to list things for you . People would be really better if they used that more
Yeah but Google cannot show things that are not there, such as Daniel James being a diver. Judging by some posts you'd think he's a Neymar kind of guy.

He's tiny and rapid. Always going to go flying when he collides with defenders.
Even more so when it's not him colliding with the defenders, but them lunging into him because they can't catch his shadow.

A lot of the times he just runs into people and expect people to move out of the way. He is super quick. But he needs to learn when to use that speed better. Learn to slow things down and isolate players before putting on the speed.

He's a little guy and he throws himself around. He needs to learn when to pull out of a challenge or he'll get hurt.

They were perfectly legal. Rough housing is part of the game, especially the english game.

The idea is that if the player cant completely trick and beat the defender cleanly, he must at least be able to rode or absorb a shoulder charge or impact

We do miss that player that will go and put in a hard challenge back on the offenders that makes them stop. This has somewhat left the game in general but it still goes on. People will be quick to reference Keane or Robson but we don't need to look very far back at all - Zlatan would have dealt with VVD & Matip and absolutely love it in the process.

James is not a diver and both the bookings he received were unfair, one was clearer than the other. I think people forget that when you run at speed, you sometimes have to take action to avoid someone you think is going to clatter you so you end up going down, so it can look like a foul. If you have to hurdle a bad challenge and lose balance because of it, despite no contact, it's still a foul much like you will be sent off if you throw a punch at someone and miss. I remember a penalty that Ronaldo won years ago where there was no contact but it was deemed a foul for this reason.

I think James, much like Ronaldo, is very brave to keep getting up and keep running at players because when you are chopped down regularly, it hurts and it adds up. James has a terrific temperament and he has been a very good signing so far.

I thought it should have been two frees for a bodycheck both times.

However...

Giggs absolutely threw him under the bus calling it playacting (whether it was or not), it's one thing holding your leg etc to slow the game down, but pretending to be unconscious is a danger both to himself and others - he should be banned for it.

Probably incorrectly (as I believe he was clearly concussed & Giggs was protecting himself and Medical team) he now has a reputation for feigning injury & worryingly might end up ignored by players and a ref the very day he does have a serious head injury.

Note - it was the Liverpool players who put the ball out for him after second injury on Sunday. His own players chose to play on.

It’s funny how people’s perceive things differently.

I always thought Hazard was always the most protected player in the league.

He was incredible at positioning himself to win free kicks but at the same time the refs almost seemed to put the whistle in their mouths the moment anybody got within five yards of him.

I’m not sure about the stats but I would hazard a guess (no pun intended) that he won more free kicks than anybody during his time in the premier league.
Of course he was.

I'd like to know how many free kicks and penalties that guy won, that figure would dwarf anyone else.

Vardy and Sterling won more penalties than Hazard. Hazard has won 9 penalties,
Vardy - 14,
Sterling - 16.
Zaha - 15
D.Silva - 10

It's just not on and the club should be making a massive fuss to put the spotlight on both shoddy refereeing and those players going out of their way to take the kid out.

Biggest issue is they're not even trying to mask the intent and the process of fouls being blown for with no cards produced as James lays there decked out is becoming increasingly irritating.

In the old days, matters would be taken into the hands of the enforcers in the team, but even that's not an option anymore, so what is to be done?

They were out to kill James on the pitch today, a lot of nasty tackles on him and a few dirty ones on some of our other players. Dean is an absolute wanker and should be retired as a referee, totally incompetent.

Ole has to be a bit like SAF and put pressure on the refs. It's like the Black Knight of Monty Python out there on James if not the team at times.

He is quick as hell the little man. Even small touches make the fouls seem wild. He did receive a lot of hard tackles today though. The referee is still supposed to hand out yellow cards for persistent fouling, yes?

He's going to have a very short career at this rate; he's taking some really nasty tackles in every game. Mike Dean is a fecking disgrace.

He will always get caught a lot because hes just that quick. With his pace a 50/50 becomes a 60/40 in his favour and by the time defenders realise they wont get it they are committed. He is one brave bugger though

We are the most passive, apathetic team in the league.

Teammate being kicked around the place? Nothing. No player with enough balls to get in someone's face.

Timewasting? Players say nothing.

Bad decisions? A shrug of the shoulders. See De Gea against Everton.

Such a hard squad of players to actually like.

This is true, Periera, McTominay and Rojo are probably the only few who have a bit of grit and that nastiness to get back at the opposition in our team. Williams as well, but he has been well behaved so far.

Exactly what I was thinking. Pathetic. Makes my blood boil that he's being targeted and I don't even know the kid.

Problem is that if you react, things will start getting out of hand and the least cultured team will take an advantage out of it.
Kudos to our players that kept calm considering the situation.

Well maybe if he didn’t go down like peak Ashley Young his teammates would actually believe he’s hurt. There was one tackle near the end I thought he was a Stunt man

United managed a feckload of timewasting in the first half.

I think McTominay would've been that guy getting in people's faces if he'd have played.

Otherwise, I think it was a good idea not to respond to Burnley's shithousery today. Dean is just the sort of ref who would side with them in everything. Taking a kicking and just getting on with it really nullifies that sort of approach as well.

There was one challenge that was a blatant red. Defender just took him out purposely with his studs and he was clean through on goal. Somehow Martial getting to the ball and being offside meant it wasn't denying a goalscoring opportunity. I'm not being funny but are the supposed top referees/officials in this country actually that thick?

Mike Dean whenever he refs our games ends up being the biggest obstacle to winning them

Thing is that Dean is known for being trigger happy when it comes to cards...

Ole needs to speak out in the press like Fergie used to. Highlight the treatment he is getting.

I completely agree. It's becoming a massive problem and is costing the team points. When Mee took out James he was clean through on goal. The United players should have surrounded the ref calling for a red card. There were no complaints at all. The Brandon Williams yellow card, everyone just laughed.

The Martial disallowed goal was a dreadful decision and there was hardly a murmur. De Gea vs Everton would have been looked at more closely by VAR if the players did a Keane/Stam to Andy D'Urso. Same with McBurnie at Sheffield Utd.

It might not be sporting and it might not look pretty but that's what winners do. Ole needs to instil that into this team because they are way too soft at the moment.

The only player who did it today was Fred when the ref gave that awful corner decision in the first half.

It's a disgrace for the club if they keep quiet about it. It's criminal what's been done to him and he's bound to be severely injured if this shit keeps up.
Somebody should compile a video with all the ugly fouls he took so far, the result would be outlandish.
