Shocking that a Manchester United Forum has a running Sack Watch thread for its manager. Seriously, this is a new low.

We got rid of ONE high earner mate. Romelu Lukaku. He was also our top goalscorer and we're struggling to score goals this season so that was a great decision tactically.

Sanchez is back next summer and we're still paying his wages.

This 'clear out' is a fecking disgusting myth that needs to die immediately. Ole hasn't cleared out a thing - he lost our second best midfielder on a free transfer and got rid of Fellaini. Smalling and Sanchez have gone on loan and Darmian ceased to be a footballer 3yrs ago.

There was no clear-out, it's a load of bolllocks spin as is 99% of the shite that comes out of our club's PR machine.
We got rid of one high-earner?!? How do you work that out?

Since Ole has come in, Fellaini, Herrera, Valencia, Smalling, Darmian, Sanchez and Lukaku have left the club. Either permanently or on loan.

That’s a million in week in wages.

Stop believing the Twitter trolls and see the big picture

Let’s just remind everybody of another simple fact - our wage bill was the highest in England. Just think about that for a second. When the players are walking round the pitch whilst 0-4 down at Everton and 6th in the table.

I think they will probably scrape a draw today at Norwich which will buy him another week until Bournemouth away.

I simply don't understand you people, do you think we have a squad of world class players or something? Why can't you understand that Solskjaer has only just started a desperately needed squad rebuild (after 6 years of directionless mismanagement) and will probably need 4/5 transfer windows before it is complete.

Could another manager do better with our squad with it's current injuries? Possibly but it isn't certain.

My view on supporting Ole has nothing to do with dropping standards, far from it, it's about restoring standards that have been lacking for many years. That will take time and patience.
I agree. We are just not good enough, and no matter who the manager is, we need 4/5 players added to this team, and a few more to the squad, before we can even talk about top 4.

If he does end up getting sacked I really hope people are right about him being the problem and we shoot back up the league.

He's not the only problem though, and no one with any sense is saying he's the key to it all being shite.

But as bad as this squad is, its not nearly in the relegation zone bad.

I pretty sure the players weren't writing their own cheques, and productivity on the pitch never simply amounts to how much people get paid off it. We had the highest wage bill cause we are the biggest team in the world and hoped that translates to performances by attracting the best players. Hindsight is an exact science and only with the benefit of it, can we talk about whether players were worth it or not. Winning football masks lots too and it's amazing how we become forensic when we are not.

Fair play to Ole, he came in a won some brownie points getting rid of the so called deadwood but top managers would have got a tune out of them and decided to get rid once they had replacements. Take a look across the city or up the M62 if anyone wants to see how to do it properly. Yes Ole saved us millions in wages, but whoever comes in is probably gonna cost more in fees and wages anyway.

In fact we'll probably be even more screwed after he gets the bloody sack cause a new manager is going to have to start from scratch, it's hardly like Ole would have left any blueprint to follow. Where are we in the league, just think about that for a second?

I couldn't give a monkeys about where we are in the league if it's not 1st or a very close 2nd

This has been my point over and over again - what does it matter if we finish 12th this season if it means we set the foundations for a proper title-challenge in 2/3 years time?

That's fair enough, but if the squad isn't relegation zone bad, then the new manager can and should get us a lot higher up the table.
Provided we get a good one that is.

The poor squad is the managers fault. Blindly placing his faith in youth and relying on injury prone players to fill holes he created in his squad is his own doing.
Not saying it's right or wrong but ain't that what most of the caf wanted to do?

All I remember is posts like "Play Greenwood" "Give Gomes a run"

This place is very guilty for that, still is, I'm sure the match day thread will be full of fury because inexperienced and not ready kids aren't starting the game today.

Exactly.

The worst thing we as a club can do is put the young lads into this environment, it could ruin their careers been thrust into how we are playing now.

They need stability and leadership around them and at the moment there is none of that.

No way he gets sacked unless we are seriously in danger of being relegated.
You know we could be just 2 points above the relegation zone having played 10 league games after the match this afternoon?

So essentially you think he's a genuinely talented manager and if given time we will see this?
......because of his portfolio of managing top teams, winning trophies, breaking the monopoly of big teams, building teams from the bottom up, developing youth, managing high profile players, knowledgeable backroom staff.........The irony, our shite Forward we wanted rid of gets the choice of the two biggest teams in Italy and yet if we fire our manager, he wouldn't get a job in our championship.

Jesus Christ, a new Ole thread, amazing.

Thing is Ole will get sacked of that I am sure. It's gone past the point of no return with the fans. I personally think it is fair to judge him this season when he has had his regular back four available for a run of games. His most creative player in midfield available for a run of games and arguably our most natural finisher in Martial available for a run of games.

Would Liverpool be at the top without Robertson, Alexander Arnold, Wijnaldum, Frimino + an injured and out of form Mane, would they bollocks. Same goes for City as well. I defy any team to go out and play with a 'Plan' or 'Identity' that apparently we don't have at present.

Don't care who actually comes in now, I really don't, they now inherit players from Fergie, Moyes, LvG, Jose and now Ole. A patchwork quilt of a mess. If you think Pep, Potch, Allegri will sort this mess out then some of you need to take your heads for a wobble. What an utterly toxic fan base we have now. It reminds me of when Villa went down a few years back. Booing and moaning at everything.

Maybe we have hit bottom now and that run that Ole put together we were playing well above what we should have been last year.

Didn't he say somewhere that he and Woodward had pretty much agreed that not replacing players like Lukaku would put us in this situation but that it was necessary to rebuild the team. They just didn't expect it to be this bad so they will try to fix a few things in January. And then everything will be according to schedule again so he will make it to next summer where he will buy another 2-3 players.

So my guess is he will be fired either somewhere around December 2020 or he will be here for years and years to come, bringing us huge succes.

With all the Woodward and United PR leaks in support of Ole, I doubt they'll sack him this early. If the bad results continue, he probably won't make it by January, so sacking him can be justifiable and the board can hire another interim and get away with having to reinvest in the squad.

I really don’t think Ole will get the sack unless we’re in serious danger of going down in March

It’s obvious from the outside that Ole and Ed sat down pre-Summer and put a plan together. I believe it went something like this -

- get rid of the high earners who have contributed very little

Reason: our wage bill was the highest in the PL and the structure had gone crazy. Players were put-out by Sanchez’s wages and the squad was unsettled. Some of our fans seem to think we have a bottomless pit of cash - but we really don’t. Wages account for half of our turnover so if we can offload the freeloaders, we free up money for signings.

- start to rebuild Utd with footballers who want to play for Utd for the right reasons

Reason: Ed seems to have realised you can’t just pick up a successful “name” from elsewhere, drop them into your team and expect them to deliver instant success. Football is a team game which revolves around having the right attitude and complimentary playing styles. Our team was a horrendous mish-mash of styles and players who downed tools the minute things didn’t go their way.

- develop Academy players so we can fill out the 23 with young, talented players, rather than having to spend £100m in backup full-backs, like City.

Reason: Transfer fees have gone insane. Im sorry but it’s untenable for anybody to keep spending £50m+ on a footballer to sit on the bench. It’s hurting City at the moment as they can’t develop a player, so they’re continually forced to spend big on squad players. If we can develop players like McTominay, Tuanzebe, Greenwood and Dean Henderson to fill-out the squad, we can focus on two/three big money signings each year.

In my opinion, all of the above policies make absolute sense. I said at the start of the season that we would be in for a terrible year but we need to ride it out to start fresh. I haven’t changed my opinion one bit. Those fans who think we would, or can, let eight go and bring eight in are just deluded. It was never going to happen that way. We’re paying now for bad decisions since about 2005 onwards....not for finally making some good decisions, like letting Sanchez and Lukaku go
Incredible to think we won the league in 2013. Heck, we finished 2nd two seasons ago and now, whether serious or not, theres talk of relegation.

Regardless of other circumstances, its incredible that our club has fallen to this low. Never would have imagined when SAF retired.

I think Ole has done a great job in dropping standards to a bare minimum.

If you're not winning then you're not good enough for United. I don't care who you are, I would've had Busby out after 3 losses.

.....this form isn't new, and even with a full squad we were still losing games. That argument about if Liverpool or City lost players only holds any water as the down turn in form would directly be attributed to injuries, they are starting from being European and PL champions. You can still have a identity without the right players and we know that as under SAF, it didn't change even when he didn't.

I think Pep, Poch and Klopp do sought it out as they have done with slightly different situations and starting positions. If they all left tomorrow, the respective teams are better than when they were appointed.

Not sure I'd say the fan base is toxic, in fact there are as many Ole in as there are out. Not sure you can make any comparisons to Villa, a club that's spent 900m which in principle can be spent because of the fan base, I think we should be expecting more than what we are seeing a present.

What I have seen is that we are organised and don't concede many. We are DREADFUL going forward, partly because we lack quality and partly because the two attackers we do have who posses a level of quality (Pogba/Martial) have missed most of the games.

Imagine next season if we add a quality CF and a quality #10, plus keep Pogba and have a little more luck with injuries.

De Gea, AWB, Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, McTominay, Pogba, Martial, James/Rashford, 'Quality #10', 'Quality CF' is a very good team and comfortably top four....which gives us the base for further progression

Oh yeah? Name them
DDG
Shaw
AWB
Lindelof
Dalot
Tuanzebe
Lingard
Pogba
Rashford
Martial
Greenwood

Have all been injured since the start of the season, some more important than others, but are all needed for different roles and jobs in the current squad.

DDG managed to recover in time for Liverpool, so even if you discount him I make that at least 10 that I can think of off the top of my head.

A far cry from your “two injuries”

The team that won the league in 2013 contained Vidic, Evra, Ferdinand, Scholes, RvP, Rooney, Carrick, Fletcher, Nani and Giggs. Granted, not in their prime, but still high, high quality, experienced players.

The club have made absolutely disastrous decisions since then - absolutely NONE of them are Ole's fault.

You can question Ole's tactical nous but I'm sorry it's not his fault we're crap. This is not a defence of Ole, it's simply a statement that you can't have your cake and eat it. I bet if I check your post History you were pro-appointing Ole after PSG AND shouted for a clearout post-Everton

Only three of those mentioned players would be in our strongest 11.
Add in Lingard.

So we’ve had 3/4 of our first team out. Wan Bisaka and James have missed games. We lost a player in the warm up last time ffs.
But yeah, we’ve only had “two injuries.”

So before Ole came in, the squad was embarrassingly unbalanced. We all knew the issues, too many defenders, too many aged players, not enough creativity in midfield and too many mard arses in Lukaku and Sanchez who turned upto training for a payslip. Now he has injuries (a lot of them) and people still think he can implement his stamp on the team? I respectfully disagree.

Maybe the wrong word but I think Klopp has been fortunate, dare I say lucky with injuries. Yeah, he might lose one player for a few games then another but that first XI has been together for a good few years now. Pep walked into the foundation of a balanced healthy squad. If he messed up in the transfer market like he did a few years back, what's the solution, no problem go and buy another couple of full-backs.

The mess we are in with successive mismanagement across the club since Fergie left, there is no quick fixes at all.

I agree. We are just not good enough, and no matter who the manager is, we need 4/5 players added to this team, and a few more to the squad, before we can even talk about top 4.
If this is true, where and when did it go so wrong for us? With previous two managers, we were always there around top 4. Even finished 2nd the season before and we were unhappy because we felt the squad is capable of more. And now we need 4 or 5 first teamers and some squad players to "even talk about top 4". How did this happen?

You know Martial and Pogs played when we were losing games too. You know Ole has been playing Pogs as a DM. Have you seen our midfield? You know how hard it is to attract quality without CL? Pogs is def off when he gets the chance. It's all about opinions I guess but that team for me needs a LB, DM, CM, AM, CF minimum. That's probably 400m.....

Before Ole was made permanent reports claimed Ed was focused on bringing Poch. Poch will be available at some point before August 2020. When that time comes you better believe they will consider him if Ole is still struggling week in week out. Their long time target being available on a free could be too good to pass up in favour of a failing project.

I'll even go as far as to say it will be negligence heck even foolish not to. I'll believe Ole is fully backed if I see our board choose him over an available Poch. It even makes sense if you're a moneyman like Ed. The cost of sacking Ole would be less than if we had bought out Poch's contract a year ago. From the money angle that's redemption for the failed Ole experiment
