The booing wasn't immediate, it was after a few seconds when the fans noticed he was walking off like we were 3-0 up. His reaction was shit either way, you're a pro, you can't ignore a few boos?
Yeah he’ll get exonerated for it because of the boos but really it’s all on him. A club captain doing that at 2-2 is inexcusable. The club, the team is more than one person a captain has to know that.

He has every right.
Normal people don't do their work constantly being insulted and called every name under the sun.

Yeah it's hard, I don't know how people want to be footballers for a top club these days.

Genuine question.

How do you bring him back after that? I'd never want him playing for United again if he was my player.
When he took of his shirt I was hoping he'd throw it away, that would be the final nail in his coffin. Hopefully Torreira gets a run now. Xhaka is not that good and he's too soft, not a big loss.

From what I heard there was a cheer when his number got thrown up for the sub. Then the booes started after he walked off like they were winning and that's when he put his hands to the ear. I don't like Young as our captain but could never see him walking off for a sub when we're behind or drawing a winnable game.

Difficult to see him coming back from that. He'll get booed at his own ground. The fans won't forget.

What a horrible toxic little club.
Uhm .. Uniteds fans can be a little toxic too. Just a reminder.

-

About Xhaka: I will not get into why he is booed off. His reaction is probably not the best for his further career at Arsenal, and it will be hard to come back after that. That, and supporters are not always right. They are many. They are emotional. Their voices can be heard, but they are not always right - they don`t always know the best for it`s own club, all the time. I`ll leave it at that.

I will also add: Young, Lindgaard, Mata, Matic, Lindelof, Rashford, Pereira, Fred, Pogba, Martial, Shaw, Rojo .. and also the coaching side needs a mention. That with all the trash bullying this group has been getting. They have tended themselves very good and not responded back. That deserves a mention. They probably have behind closed doors (i would, i would probably Kung Fu my way about), but with all the "social" media running around with lunatics behind the keyboard it is best to behave properly when all eyes are on you as a representant of a club. So, if you hate your own players, at least respect these `Devils` for that :smirk:

He wasn't booed off for being shit. There were pretty big cheers when his number came up (which is quite bad), so he decided to retaliate by slowly strolling off. That's when the boos started.

The whole atmosphere was toxic today, the frustration with Emery is boiling over onto the players

Doctors where I’m from are probably the most hated group by the general public and we get called all manner of abusive names.

Crap player who shouldn’t even be at a club like Arsenal, never mind their captain.

Don't like it when fans boo their players but it wasn't a smart reaction from him...

Have to laugh at United fans on the high horse after the shit Fellaini went through despite never throwing a strop and always giving his all. Old Trafford is just as toxic.

Remember his only qualification of being selected as captain was that his parents gave him the house keys when they were away during his childhood.

No wonder they boo.

I watched the replay and those sounded like ironic cheers. I don't rate Xhaka but he's getting scapegoated by the fans. Regardless he seems sensitive and has some of the most negative body language I've ever seen. Just clap and run off the pitch ffs.

For people saying he was walking off as if they were up 3-0, it was on 60 minutes not 80 that you would expect him to be running off. Also, his you could see he was already pissed at being subbed, which was then amplified by the fact that the Arsenal fans cheered.

The whole atmosphere at the club is toxic and you can see it's getting to the players. I haven't seen the match but from the comments it doesn't seem as if any of the goal were his fault, also his corner lead to their first goal. The fans are morons for booing him but his reaction doesn't make it better. I remember once Eboue was booed off after a poor game but he didn't react badly, eventually he came back and the fans liked him again.

Did Xhaka having a bad game before being substituted?
Still not the wisest reaction
Didn't sound like he had a great game.

Just baffling he is their captain and he is deemed good enough to start in that side. But then it's Arsenal. Torreira is more suited to the English game than Xhaka is.
