This is the incomprehensible thing that I would criticise Ed for most.

Negotiations shouldn’t begin on July 1st 2020; if we need 4/5/6 players & can identify this in October 2019 I believe it would be resonance to expect the club be able to make those signings in the next 10 months.

The summer window was a shambles & the continued slowly slowly approach is malpractice.
There's your problem.

I like your incredibly positiveness, but history says different things in the last 10 years:

- Max 3 signings/year
- Net spend 50 million

Embrace reality and deal with it

Stop dreaming
I don't know about that part!

In the 14/15 season (LvG's 1st) we made 7 signings.
The next season we made 6 signings.
Then, in José's first two seasons, we made 4 signings each. Albeit Alexis was a January purchase.

I'm not saying we will sign more than 3 players, but we have done before so I wouldn't rule it out.

I don't think that we will sign more than 3 players in the summer and I think that they will be paid for out of the sale of Pogba. I hope that I am wrong. Maybe Woodward realises he made a mistake not replacing Lukaku and Herrera and that the sh!te show of this season is the kick up the ar$e he needs to invest significantly more in the squad in the summer.

It will be 4 signings in 2020. Not in the summer, lukaku will be replaced in january. Then 3 in the summer, 1 cheap (alà Dan James)

4 players aren't going to do shit. We still need to get rid off some deadwood too. Lingard (isn't going to happen with Ole at the wheel), Mata, Rojo, Young and possibly Matic.

We would need 4 now in January and another 4 in the summer to even get close to where we should be.
Such a bloody true post but apparently rebuilds have to be done at a snails pace.

I’d agree this squad could do with a shake up to the duke of 6-8 players, if this can be seen in November 2019 there’s no reason these transfers shouldn’t occur by the end of the 2020 summer window other than incompetence.

Speculating fees we’ll never actually know is futile.

There are bargains to be had in this market. Good scouting/negotiating would get you more out of £250/£300mil.

Er.. given our track record over past several years, good luck with that.

Under a tree.
Need more than 4 if a proper clearout is to take place. I also consider Sancho highly unrealistic, but so is the scenario below, so there you go....

In:
Odegaard 40m
Partey 45m
Haland 45m
Mcginn 50m
Zaha (with discount) or Bergwijn 50m
Kurzawa free
Fraser free
Toby free

Out:
Lingard 30m
Pogba 150m
Matic free
Mata 15m
Rojo 10m
Young free
Sanchez 10m
Bailly 20m
Jones 10m
DDG
AWB Toby :) Maguire Shaw
Partey McGinn
Zaha Odegaard Martial
Haland

Time to visit your optician for a refund. Those rose-tinted specs they sold you are messing with your vision. If Madrid buy Pogba, there's a chance they'll part-exchange Ødegaard, but they'll value him way over £40m. In a world where West Ham ask £80m for midling players, no way will Villa sell McGinn for less than £60m. His contract runs to June 2024. No chance we get £30m for Lingard. £45m Haaland, more like double.

1. Eriksen
2. Dier
3. Håland
4. Ødegaard

Eriksen will be out of contract in the summer and is set to leave in January.
Dier has fallen down the pecking order with Tottenham and could leave too.
Håland already played under Solskjaer and they are in good relationship.
Ødegaard can be requested to Real Madrid as part of the exchange for Pogba.
Smalling should be kept as he would make a good pair with Maguire.

Why would we buy Dier, when McTom is coming along great guns?

It's scary mate how many people are mentioning Eric feckin Dier as an option. and some have given the reason of him not making the spurs starting 11 as a reason we might be able to get him. Its mind boggling.

Utd are not buying Dier - spurs wouldn’t be able to sell him to West Ham.

I’m sure if his surname was spelt Dyer, and he didn’t grow up in Portugal he would never even have an England cap (exaggerating slightly...). He’s spurs’ version of Phil Jones (without the injuries) - had good potential as a youngster, but never improved.

All of a sudden we look less desperate. I wouldn’t go for a LB now, I’d prefer to give Williams a go and at CB I think we’ll go for axel.

I’m still of the opinion Greenwood will Come through this season too so can’t see a striker coming.

CM looks like the priority and a wide forward, plus replacement for Pog if he goes.

I would go all out and buy a midfielder or 2 this January. Someone who can go in beside McTominey and Fred/Pogba. We need more quality in there. We can wait till summer to buy a centre forward. If we continue with the 3-5-2 then its quality in midfield we need this January. Going forward we have Rashford, Martial, James and choice of Greenwood and Lingard to play as the two upfront/Wide forwards. Think some games we play in will be won in midfield and we are light at the moment. Some injured players not good enough when they return rather see midfield get sorted.

If we could get two players in January I'd give anything for a quality CDM and another CM option. We need quality and depth there.

Summer we can focus on RW, STR and replacing Pogba. If we're lucky.

Zaha for 50 million :)

He's shit

I'd sooner spend that on Darcie glazers mansion as both would have the same impact on improving the squad.

Yeah I think Palace will regret not selling Zaha in the summer, when the iron was as hot as it's going to get. A lot of clubs do this, then end up regretting it when that player's form starts going downhill.

Maddison and Sancho would be the priority for me. I’d rather sign two top quality players like them at the expense of other areas.

Agreed. Especially when our back 5 has enough strength and depth.

Any back five that still has to regularly play Ashley Young definitely doesn't have enough strength and depth!
He won't be here next year.

AWB/Dalot and Shaw/Brandon Williams.

Maybe Maddison if Pogba leaves (looking fairly likely) but until then I think I’d prefer someone to take hold of games - either physically (Kante/Partey) or in possession (Neves/Thiago).

Dunno if that's strong considering Shaw's injury record and the jury's still very much out on Williams. We could definitely do with a solid left-back, but obviously there are higher priorities.

What sort of midfielder is Tonali? Heard his name pop up a few times but never seen him play.
Deep lying playmaker from what I've seen.

To be honest, I've only watched him 3 times properly but he looks a nice midfielder and people on YouTube called him the new Pirlo so I'm sold.

Fair enough.

If he can do a job as a number 10 too, then I’d be definitely sold. Can’t bare another season with Mata, Lingard & Pereira in that role.

A couple of midfielders and Haaland would be great. Sancho is going to be out of our reach and I think he will end up at the Spanish giants, Bayern or Liverpool/City.

Maddison would be great and another ball playing midfielder.

CF: Haaland/Martial
RF: James/Lingard
LF: Rashford/James

AM: Maddison/Pereira/Mata
LCM: Pogba/Fred/Garner
RCM: McTominay/McGinn/Soumare

RB: Wan-Bissaka/Dalot
RCB: Lindelöf/Tuanzebe
LCB: Maguire/Rojo + Bailly
LB: Shaw/Williams

GK: De Gea/Pereira

Gomes, Chong, Greenwood, Henderson amongst other youngsters (Laird, Levitt) should all be loaned out for a whole season to get some minutes playing against men. As for Garner I think the best place for him to develop is right here. I think he is the best of the younglings.

Out:
- Sanchez 10 mil
- Smalling 15 mil
- Jones 15 mil
- Matic 10 mil
- Young free
- Mitchell free

No one is going to buy Bailly as he is always injured so he can be the back of the back up. Five central defenders should do the trick. Mata is not being sold either as he is probably going to get a job in the office after his playing career. Lingard is going to get a new contract, I have no doubt about it.

In:
- Maddison 80 mil
- Haaland 60 mil
- McGinn 50 mil
- Soumare free

Our net spendings would land at 140 mil, which should possible. I dontt think the leftback position needs to be strengthened just yet, lets see if Shaw can stay fit and Williams will have another year to develop. Spending +60 mil on Chilwell now would be insane imo.

Don't think he'd be suited to it to be honest. But I'm not to worried about that role - I like Pereira there and I want space for Gomes to come through.

I would add Lingard to your list too he needs shipping out asap.
