Tournament started yesterday in host country Brazil. Japan comfortably defeated Holland 3-0 with some real stand out performances from a few of their players. As a United fan I would like to see us sign some of the big Asian young talents from the likes of Japan and South Korea. Both nations seem to be producing great talent and I hope to see one or two maybe join us in the near future. The two Japanese kids in the below tweet were excellent against a strong Dutch team so will be ones to watch for the remainder of the tournament.

Japan always seem to play a good brand of football. What stops them going further in say a World Cup is an outstanding striker and physicality. Technically they’ve produced a lot of fantastic players.

Great result for Japan, player for player Holland are pretty comfortably the best side in the competition, even without Brobbey. Hansen, Unuvar and Taylor are all exceptional talents. Watched all the games yesterday but missed Saturdays as was out. Japan were excellent after a poor first 10, very well coached as always.

France should have won by more, they’ve a decent chance at winning it. Good mix of talent and physical attributes, which is very important at this level.

Was disappointed with USA, thought they would do better. It’s not a good Senegal side this year, they really struggled after the first 30 to deal with them.

Soloman islands play today, that should be a big score. All their coaches and staff are local based which usually doesn’t end well. Hopefully I’m wrong and they’re competitive.

I saw a few minutes of Japan and thought their striker was very good. He was extremely quick and hard working and the Dutch defenders couldn't handle him.

I'm not sure what number he was though. But yes, definitely, Fergie! Sign him up! Fergie Fergie Sign him up!

Watasuki? Weirdly he hadn't been capped before yesterdays game, wasn't involved with the u16s at qualifying. Has been involved with cup squads for Bellmare the last few times it seems.

Soloman started great, got a goal harshly disallowed. Crumbled since though and could easily be more than 3 at HT.

Argentina Spain is a good watch, much more open than 0-0 says. Big fan of Esposito up top for Spain, Moreno on the bench is good as well. Pretty even game so far.

Our goal in the first match. Another local kid to me and started off at the same club as myself. Same for Jayden Nelson, probably the biggest talent in the side. With Angola and NZ in the group, we should be really looking to advance out of the groups. Looking forward to the Angola match tomorrow night.

Will need to win by a couple, was working it out earlier. Their GD is terrible, Canada and New Zealand play each other and both have a bad GD, one of those will need a big win to go through. Australia Hungary group could potentially have 1/2 points in 3rd place. Barring that Dutch will need a solid win to overtake one of the other 3rd place sides and USA are solid.

Brazil win their group, really good solo goal by Veron to seal it.
New Zealand might scrape through but they need a lot to go in their favour. Will need USA to draw with Holland or Holland to win by 1 goal exactly or they'll be out. Need someone else to mess up the final game also.

Monitoring players till they are 22 before paying world record fees.
No, to look for incredibly talented youngsters to add to the youth teams, like we do every season.

Strange comment considering the number of quality young players we've brought in over the past couple of years
Yeah mental comment after we pay 80 million for Maguire and chase Sancho for a fortune whilst throwing 50 million at Dembele. We have only just started getting smart at recruiting youth after years of neglect hence why the reserves were relagated which was a disgrace really.

Big clubs spend big money on players, we've also brought in some of the best young players around Europe in the past few years before their prices went up & we had to pay far more for them & you've admitted yourself that we've gotten smart so your original comment is fairly nonsensical really & just seems like you're having a moan for the sake of moaning but fire ahead if that's what you want.

Why is it nonsensical if we are only just starting to do it?

Well firstly we haven't only just started doing it we've been doing it for the past 3/4 years after a few years of poor youth recruitment, secondly it's fairly nonsensical to be complaining about 1 of the parts of the club which is actually being well run & thirdly I have no idea why you felt the need to air your grievances by quoting me mentioning that a particular scout was at the tournament.

Which players have been the standouts?
No-one has really stood out to me, don't think there has been anyone who looks clearly far too good for u17s. Obviously the huge talents Cherki and Fati aren't involved so does explain it a bit. Some might come into their own in the later stages. Most players have just had good individual moments, such as Veron solo goal for Brazil, as opposed to being impressive all the games (for me anyway)

Our transfer policy is wank and we've not really addressed it apart from maybe Dan James with regards to decent scouting and value for money. I wasn't having a a go at you, you touchy cnut.

Well considering you're talking about the scouting in the u17 world cup I thought it was safe to assume you were talking about our scouting of & signing of players around that age which we have rectified but carry on talking bollocks about something you seem to have very little understanding of you clueless cnut

Maybe you should take your own advice considering each post has shown up more & more just how little knowledge you have about the thing you're complaining about

It's a shame Cherki isn't playing. He's just sitting on the bench of a CL game right now doing nothing when he could be helping France win a WC. Would have loved to see him play internationally at such a tournament. Anybody know why he didn't go?

He's a 2003 born player & this is for the 2002's so they're using the lads who have actually had a part in them reaching the World Cup. I think Cherki has only played 2/3 games for France at any level strangely enough.
