When he doesn't score, his team will have played whole game with 10 men
yes but he is meant to provide a goals baseline leading to a good chunk of points, isn’t he?

Thats great, how many of those goals were instrumental in winning major trophies unlike say every single player you nominated above. Mario Gomez had 2 40+ goal seasons in the bundesliga.... is he class? no.

How many of Alan Shearers goals were instrumental in winning major trophies ? Is he not class or is this now the latest excuse goals only count if they win trophies ?

You're not quite the full quid are you?

Perhaps look at Gomez trophy haul at Bayern... Better yet, go have a look at Shearers trophy haul (he actually has a couple of major honours let alone the ridiculous amounts of personal accolades, quickly followed by how far he elevated Newcastle to be a top 5 club for an extended period of time.

Perhaps then you'll get a clue and come back with reasonable and meaningful discussion.

Lukaku is simply another Gomez. He'll be finshied in a top league by 30 and plying his trade in Turkey.

Lukaku just doesn't score when the team needs it. Scoring almost for his own CV rather than anything that has ever helped any of his clubs or his national team.

If he does well at Inter - it's because just like it was proven IN England - Conte is a really good manager that has a thing for those type of strikers.

Caught the game. Do not miss him and having to pretend his goals make up for how useless he is when the heat gets turned on. Noticed Inter players sometimes tend to ignore him outside the box unless he's the most obvious pass

Quite the contrary, he's generally being slagged off for going missing against a decent team again. Inter are learning. He's a great player for finishing 6th in the league, but he'll never be first choice in a team that wins anything of note.
Interesting.

Thanks for the clarification.

Nail on head. We can revive this thread for the next 6 years but the reality is this... Lukaku will score plenty, go missing against quality opponents and never be the standard required for a club with serious CL ambitions. Ole was right to sell him, the problem was not replacing him.

Thats not the point though is it? No one is proclaiming Lukaku to be great. The point is that he is a very good goalscorer, as proved by his track record. Yes, he struggles against the better teams and is limited. But, how can a 26 year old Lukaku who has scored more career goals than Suarez, Roo and Titi Henry at the same age be shit? Its just blind hate. The reason why? Could be anything. For some reason, people on here get triggered by him. He left, move on.

Maybe if you watch him for the full 90minutes?

Struggled to hold the ball today. In fact, he struggled to do anything of note today.

I was just think the same, one minute he’s being hyped up for winning 4 headers as Inter are winning then 45 minutes later they’ve lost and he’s a big game bottler again.
They conceded 3 in the 2nd half and lost the game. When Dortmund threw everything at them Rom had so much space to work and make a difference which made his deficiencies even more glaring because he kept failing. I'd bet my house that Inter forum is throwing merciless abuse his way right now

No one on here has hyped Lukaku up to be anything other than a very good goalscorer. Its either hes a very good goalscorer, with certain limitations, or he is shit altogether. I fall in the former camp. People with hate and certain agendas fall in the latter group.

Only people who miss him and moan whenever he scores are those who don’t watch him play but just the scoresheet.

Inter Striker Lukaku Has More Career Goals Than Henry, Owen, Rooney & Suarez All Did Aged 26
It means he is a good goalscorer and we dont have one of those now we sold him

Rashford before turning 22 (season ending as 21 year old as it's hard to get the numbers for mid season), scored 45 goals (for club alone).
Henry - 31 goals
Ronaldo - 32 goals
Shearer - 43 goals
Kane - 36 goals
Sterling - 34 goals
Salah - 32 goals
Hazarad - 50 goals
Mane - 44 goals
Firmino - 27 goals
Auba - 16 goals
RVP - 32 goals
RVN - 20 goals
Zlatan - 48 goals
Griezmann - 32 goals
Eto'o - 52 goals
Cavani - 34 goals
Falcao - 30 goals

Even Lukaku before turning 22 played 3 seasons in England, scoring 53 goals. Rashford played 3.5 season and scored 45 goals. Lukaku played as CF, Rashford played as Winger.

Anyways Rashford should be great goalscorer too considering he outscored so many great players at his age.

Just scored over 20 goals a season what a terrible striker

Thank god we have much better goalscorers now
I mean I'm pretty unhappy that he got shipped out as well but if we had an adequate replacement, this wouldn't even be a conversation. Lukaku isn't good enough to be a Utd #9. It doesn't really matter how well he does at Everton / Inter, he had two seasons here under two different managers and couldn't cut it. 16 goals in '18, 12 goals in '19, I think Rashford will top that this season.

Being a good goalscorer? Yes he obviously showed that for us.

Weird comment.
How did he show he was good goal scorer for us, for a limited player he averaged less than a goal every 2 game. 2.28 games per goal is not a goal goal scoring record, especially in this era and also for a limited player. Even if you go by mins per goal, it's close to 2 games a goal.

What do you mean by not being good enough to be a #9, though? United 19/20 is not the same as United 07/08, or even 17/18. Sure, Lukaku isn't good enough to be a van Nistelrooy, Rooney or Yorke. James isn't Beckham, he isn't even Solskjær when he was a winger. Barely a single player in this team is a United player if we compare them with the winning teams.

Surely what matters is to compare Lukaku to the current United side. Could Lukaku contribute in the place of Martial, Rashford, James, Lingard, Pereira, etc. (considering he can play both as a striker and out wide)? In my opinion the answer is as obvious as 2+2=4. We're not a good team, it doesn't matter if he's not Ronaldo. We don't have one, and we won't until we get better.

He got no credir for scoring, he got stick for inter conceding?

Some fans our lot.
Must be Inter fans too considering they are not happy with his performance.

Edit: if you are talking about this game, then Lukaku didn’t score.

How many post you have here? Probably shitting on how shit he is and how shit jose is for having him.

EDIT: pop quiz, who's the top poster in this thread with 81 post?
Eh? What a great logic. I have most posts as I argue my points when someone challenges them.

I don’t post shit one liners and run away like you do in Ole thread.

If you at least thought about it a bit, you would have seen Haram was the top poster and he was banned for a month.
