I would bet on the 10th position. Not bad CB's line to be relegated, horrible attacking line to make it even top-5.

Start of the season, thought we would finish 7th...we are far worse than I ever thought.

8th, but it is possible that he scrapes a Europa League finish.

Wasnt so long ago people dismissing finishing a distant 2nd. Now they're praising a possible 10th place finish as something that wasnt so bad.
To see how the Ole in crowd have lowered standards. In May they said give him one widow, and then judge. And it was accepted by them that crap football and finishing below 6th would deserve him getting sacked.

Now many will praise him for avoiding relegation on the last day.

it's mad, 47% of people don't want him sacked yet 97% of people think we will miss out on top four. The f*ck are that 44% smoking if they think it's OK to keep a manager who has no chance of getting top four?

I think top 4 is possible and top 6 most likely. We are still 3rdin xpoints and top in xga. If the transfer market and pogbas form can boost our xg at all, even 20%, we will be okay result wise

We are still muck

3000 or 120, it'll generally average out around the same.
How? Sample size is too small and around 4% voted in this thread. For all we know, Ole in fans are fed up with one more Ole thread and not arsed to open this thread.

My general feeling is that things will certainly improve after the Jan window and with Pogba back in the playing 11, we might get a few more wins. We'll get in the top 6 but top 4 will be an uphill task for us. Hope Chelsea fall into a slump and Spurs & Arsenal never recover.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
Oppos want Ole to stay...

As with Moyes - all oppo WUMs on here are pretending to be 'Ole in' Utd fans - no doubt about that.
So @Rood @bosnian_red and few others are opposition WUMs pretending as ManUtd fans.

Always knew it.
I like what you did there, Roonster me old chum - you took simple logic and blasted it wider than a Phil Jones penalty...

Oppo WUMs being 'Ole in', does not make all 'Ole in' posters Oppo WUMs! ;)

As long as we bring in 2 players in January I think we will finish the season stronger than we have started it. Top 6 finish

Why do you think that?

I'm asking cause I can't really think of many examples in the PL of clubs bringing in players in January and it improving their league position drastically like you're suggesting. Usually January signings turn out to be failures initially until they get a proper pre-season.

6th would still be pretty shocking with two January purchases, mind. I'm not even sure what the point of the purchases would be if they didn't result in a genuine push for top four either?

I cant think of many (or any) situations where a squad is crying out for something to the same extent that we are for creative players. A good right sided attacker and a number 10 would transform this team instantly.

Might be because the reason many think we won't get top 4 isn't strictly due to the squad build up (not even the main reason). Ole might not be perfect or the guy long term, but plain and simple we need more and better players. We have no depth in midfield or attack, and even in our starting 11 we have like 3 positions who straight up are not good enough to be starters at a CL club. I can't fully blame Ole when a big part is just not having the squad to get better results and more consistent results. What I can blame Ole on is the performance and style of play in general, which hasn't been great. But i dont think anyone would really get this squad at a normal top 4 level without fixing the midfield and attack in the transfer market. Doesn't need too much, but the main things are not signing a midfielder to be the holding mid, and not replacing Lukaku in the squad.

Transform it into a team that finishes sixth, though, so what's the point?

I'm just curious because you've often said on here that Ole needs time to build a squad and we need to stop chopping and changing and making reactionary decisions, yet buying two players in January is about as reactionary as you can possibly get, especially when there's no tangible benefit to doing so, because really, what does it matter if we finish 6th, 10th, or 14th?

I do not in any way dispute that we need to sign players but I really struggle to understand what the point of doing so in January is, especially when players tend to be overpriced in January and have a far lower success rate when you buy them, if all he thinks we'll do when we sign these players is finish sixth?

This argument falls apart when you realise that the squad Ole inherited finished 2nd the season before under Mourinho. The narrative at the time was that Mourinho's negative tactics were holding us back and that we can challenge City if we improve upon it. Certainly capable of top 4 anyway.

The fact that people now believe we have no chance whatsoever of top 4 after one summer window with Ole spending 150m on new signings shows what a disastrous job he has done here.

The 47% are away with the fairies and wildly deluded. Their reasoning is not objectively based on actual football performances and history, that's for sure.
