Lindeløf injured. Tuanzebe injured. Bailly injured. Maguire needing a rest and playing through pain. And Jones is still not given minutes in the EL.

I think it´s safe to say Ole does not rate Jones. Maybe it´s in his contract. "Last choice" it says.

Yet he recently got a new long-term contract. :houllier: The genius that decided this was a good option should be made to pay Jones' contract from his own pocket.

I don't rate Jones as poorly as some but I have to agree, if he's clearly not wanted then what was the point of the new contract? Surely the money in wages saved would cancel out any transfer fee anyway, another poor contract decision as with Mata.

Well, depends how you see it. Someone HAS to be that 5th choice, and preferable, without making to much fuzz about it.

For the 50th time in the 9 or so years he's been here.

He's complete dogshit and I never want to see him play for us again.

He's an absolute joke.

You dont want to wish injury on anyone, even less on a Manchester United player, but for the team and the performances it might be better if Jones cant play....

Insane that Jones is prefered over Smalling.

Phil Jones still costing us games in 2019 is a testament to how poorly run this club is. He is due a testimonial soon for feck sake. Just ship him off to whichever pub team is willing to take him and be done with it. Has never during his time here been good enough.

For the umpteenth time, Jones is a nightmare of a footballer. How have five successive managers not seen this?

How did he get a new contract is what I want to know?
I genuinely think that it was done in the belief that another club would be in for him and we'd squeeze a few million more from them for him. Obviously, no other team wanted him even if he were available for peanuts.

He's a decent defender for the most part. He just makes appalling decisions far too frequently, including decisions which will end up with him being on the treatment table again. It's incredibly frustrating to have such a brainless footballer play for us.

The fact he's lasted years is madness.

First start for ages. Was doing fine until his blunder for their first goal. After that he struggled.

Previously he at least used to put few good games whenever he plays that convince everyone he should be given a new chance or so.

Now every time he plays, he makes a disaster.

He didn't play that bad. Big error for the goal of course, but he also won the ball back a lot and passed it well. Our midfield and fullbacks was a much bigger problem than Phil Jones.

Did well until the mistake...sums up his career. Another gem for the disaster reel.

Even before the mistake he was all over the place, raging about like a bull in a china shop. We need to get rid in the summer.

I actually thought he was playing really well today until....Jones pulls a Jones. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, but it seems like every time he makes a mistake it's a costly one. It was the right move to take him off at half time. If not for that goal, then just for the tactical switch as the 3-4-3 was not working in the slightest. TheCaf has Jones rated as the worst player on the pitch today. For me, that honour goes to Perriera

He's shite, no question but throwing him against Sheffield after not playing any football in so long has got to be a bit on the manager too.
It's his job to play football ? He should be ready to play against anyone when called upon. In his defence it's a blatant foul on him leading to the 1st goal

Think it is between Rojo, Jones and Baily on who is going to be sold, and right now Jones sees to be begging to be sold. Looks less composed than some of our young players.

I'd be embarrassed to drive that Bentley around if I was him.

Even before getting bounced off by Mousset, he was rash in tackling. Also seemed our players didn't want to pass to him at certain points.

He may have played his last game for the club considering the comeback we made after his departure.

For 19 minutes he was United´s best player, then he goes on to to that. A horrible decision horribly conducted.

It was fitting that the game today was on a Sunday as he played like a Sunday League player, pathetic.

Genuinely thought it was a foul. If that was a Spanish fullback getting barged into the back they'd get a free kick 100%.

Mousset made no attempt to play the ball and just barged him over. It wasn't a 50/50 shoulder duel so you can't use the "be big and strong" excuse. Think we got robbed with that.

The first goal should never have stood, it was a blatant foul on Jones. English refs and vars are just aweful.
