Apparently has 30 cleansheets in 49 games. That's simply amazing no matter the opposition.

I like his style, and imho matches what i want to see from United Gk. Cool, fearless, and dominating.
I've always wondered if we are better off with him instead of DDG.

Very good at coming off his line and you definatley notice that when he plays. Very good shot stopper, and has a cool commanding presence where he seems to claim crosses without much shouting and screaming. Positionally on par with De Gea I'd say but lacks his reactions and arsenal of shot stopping David has. Also let's not go past how well the lad can pick out a pass too.

Keep reading posts about him not being good enough and flapping at crosses etc. I’d say we’ve got possibly the best back up keeper in the league. He rarely plays and always looks a solid performer.

For who? Not ahead of DDG!

I like Romero, and he’s an excellent no. 2. He seems more than happy in that role.

He’s been a no. 2 a lot in his career, and doesn’t show any particular desire for that to change, and one of the key reasons why he shouldn’t be a no 1.

Why can’t we be happy that we have a great goalkeeping department, and they are harmonious- no in fighting, no swapping of keepers in crucial games. A great first team keeper, and a great back up.

I meant from his point of view. It's strange in a way that he never makes a fuss when he has the ability to start every week. He's good enough to play first choice for at least 15 clubs in PL but yeah I'm not complaining, we're lucky to have the worlds best number 2.

I don’t think he wants to be or has the mentality to be a no 1. Otherwise he would have asked to leave, and we would have let him go with a lot of good Will and wouldn’t have stood in his way at all.

Suits all parties really well.

Top mentality, not sure if anyone saw the presser for AZ but when a journalist asks him about how easy it is to not play for a while and play the odd game. Sergio talks about how he works his bollocks off just to play the odd game and to be mentally prepared for it.

Yeah, very good answers in press conference.

Great servant to our club, I really respect Romero. Very shaky with the ball at his feet but he is always up for it when given a game.

He’s got to be the best backup keeper we’ve ever had? he’s quite a bit better than many first team keepers we’ve had as well. Seems like a great guy to have in the dressing room as well.

Best No2 in the world. Has never let us down and I’m really surprised he’s not been bought by another team as their No1. We’re lucky to have him.

Another clean sheet and commendable shift from the player in this squad who never complains but has the most right to. This on another day where there’s nothing else to be positive about.

It would be apt if we declared our No.2 the club’s player of the year.

Unfortunately if De Gea didn't get dropped last season when he made 1 mistake a game for 2 months running ultimately costing us top 4, he isn't getting dropped now. Especially after his new contract.

Good and composed throughout, he absolutely deserves a start in the league at his point.

One super save in the first half. One awful pass out of play for a corner. Most of the rest was fairly standard stuff.

Clearly we were very fortunate that Doherty headed the ball straight onto his arm, rather than directly into the net.

63.5% clean sheet ratio. Nobody to play more than 10 games comes close. Let’s hope De Gea’s got an extended break for midweek.

I would not lose any sleep if De Gea left/got injured and we made Romero our #1.

He seems like a keeper more like Van der Sar who will get better with age unlike de gea who has to rely on his reflexes which will die down with his age.

I reckon if he does get PL games that he won't be perfect - but he will be more all rounded and help our defensive game, something we have lacked since van der Sar in our box.

It really depends if people and the manager decide if a mistake from him is now worth it in comparison to de geas mistake - in my opinion it is. But the manager right now probably don't have the balls to make such a move.

Brilliant No.2, doubt there’s a better one out there. Had that one brain fart when he kicked it out for a corner when it looked like there where a couple easy passing options available but luckily never came to anything. Definitely deserves a run in the team if De Gea keeps making silly errors.

Definitely deserves a chance to be our #1. De Gea is surviving off past performances and not current form. Romero has started 8 games this year and has 6 clean sheets. De Gea has started 22 games and has 4 clean sheets. Seems a no brainer to me...

When he first joined he seemed flappy and erratic to me, but I never really doubted his ability to pull off saves. He clearly commands the defence better than De Gea, but I never really understood the fans that wanted him as number 1 if De Gea left a few years ago.

It seems as though his decision making is getting better with age, but it’s hard to make a judgement until he has a run in the team. He should 100% start against City.
