Im not disregarding his ability as a manager. However if I had to choose between Leicester City's Manager vs Leicester City's Board or Scouting Network - I'd definitely choose the second option for United.

The players they get for the price they pay are fantastic - absolutely competitive with the best in the league & consistent. They've done it for 6 years now & they don't look like stopping. They know what they are doing.
Well there are lots of talented footballers around the world, predictably so given this is the most widely played sport around the world. However the man who knows how to use them the best is important. Point is if Puel was still there no one would be going crazy about their players as they'd probably still be in mid table.

Dunno, during Liverpool days he said how defending is easy, while his team conceding 50 goals per season in PL.
Probably not his best statement he made but he is right.

Most attacks on goal from "any" team usually end up with no goals meaning defending is easier than attacking. Even when we beat Saints 9-0 less than 50% of attempts were goals.

I think he has a different managerial team around him now, perhaps a big one for defensive organisation is Kolo Touré.

Ndidi is as effective now as Kante was for us in stopping opposition attacks, we also had Evans several times today running out of defense to nick the ball out of Arsenal's midfield. Did Liverpool have a decent defensive mid during his time there?

A team can play under Megson as manager, where when the opposition has the ball your entire team is in your own box, when you have the ball your wingers aren't allowed past the halfway line, never mind defenders. 90% of games wouldn't concede, but also wouldn't score, and you need to score to win games. Look at Watford now for a team putting effort into defense, they conceding very little.

Now conceding little "whilst" also been productive at the front is what's very difficult.

You're right, Leicesters midfield is definitely better than ours (minus Pogba) and it's because of poor recruitment. But a good manager has this current United squad in top 6, comfortably. Not 14th.
Agree we should be amongst the top 6 for sure

More points than their performances have merited (see Vardy's conversation rate) so don't get too carried away. But they're doing well and I'd be surprised if they finished outside of the top 6.

His players are not world beaters. They missed lots of killer passes, some finishes that were fluffed and still scored 2 goals because of the set up and coaching.
We have better players in some positions and don't get close to his style of football. All the credit to him.

We had the chance to get tielemans but left it for some odd reason

Would rather bring back Moyes than this cnut, no thanks.
This is why your team is doing a China Syndrome. Not that BR would go to united. That would be impossible but you would be lucky to have him. Still you can go get a retread or a past it dinosaur of a mgr instead of your Ole. You really need some smart people on your team to make right decisions.

Don't be daft. Not that I think Rodgers would mange United tomorrow given it's the start of his Leicester project. But a few years down the line, it's not impossible.

I think BR would leave Leicester tomorrow if we were in for him. He has a massive ego, and so the chance to manage one of the elite clubs in world football would be too much to resist. He’d also earn a heck of a lot more money here too, and this would immediately help him get over leaving the Leicester “project” behind.

As well as he has done though, I still think we can do better long term than BR.

actually you didn't, his agent tried to get him to wait for you but he wasn't interested in doing so and recently it was reported we got him for £32m not the £40m previously reported

You just know Ed will go for Poch when he sacks Ole. Spurs will get Brenton and we will regret it.
The way it's looking right now, Spurs will probably sack Pochettino first, then Pochettino will get hired by another team before Ole goes anywhere.

Aside from getting results (which is clearly low down in EW's priority), Ole is the ideal manager for the Glazers and EW. Yes man, never speaks up against the board, good PR guy ("The boys did well tonight"), lets the board keep the budget low (both with transfers in and out as well as the salary for the manager himself, although with that said Ole is still one of the highest paid managers in Europe), and his legend status in the club prevents half the fans from turning on him even if we get relegated.

He's going to be here for the foreseeable future.

I honestly don't think he's the man to take us forward.

He's doing well with a good squad, in what is currently a pretty poor league (Arsenal, Tottenham and us struggling, Chelsea held back by a transfer ban) but I'm not convinced.

He did okay at Liverpool too but they were still right to replace him when they did, not just because Klopp is a top manager, but because I think he'd reached his limit there.

He'd probably, maybe, turn us around somewhat, but there'd still be a need to replace him with someone better at a later point, and probably a few more duff buys to move on as well after he's gone.

I'm sticking to my stance that he's benefiting from non mid week games which allows him to play strongest squad every week. I'll reserve judgement when he has to constantly rotate his squad.

Brendan's definitely benefitting with the fact that Leicester don't have an expectation to necessarily get top four / league challenge. So he can compensate the lesser pressure by overachieving which is exactly what's happening. Leicester are an exemplification if a team with no real world class players who are a sound / quality team. He's undoubtedly a better manager than Solskjaer, any fan who would take Ole over BR is deluded on the premises of what condones a successful manager. Given the Scouse history and Brendan's persona I can understand people objecting him for "personal" reasons.

The squad seems good due to how well he’s doing though. When he took over they were bottom half of the table in free fall and since have lost Maguire. They have a decent side but have no right being second he’s done an amazing job.

As Kev Keegan would say 'I'd absolutely love it if Leicester won the title again". Just think of the irony. Brendan Rodgers wins the title with Leicester and denies the scousers, having taken them close when he was Liverpool manager 6 years earlier.

Not happening, sadly. Didn't Liverpool batter them (in the shot count) recently?

Exactly, if we had swapped managers, I’m pretty sure we would have swapped positions in the table as well now.

Sad thing is I look forward to them playing every week these days, they play good attacking football and constantly go at it. Meanwhile we struggle to create a single chance in 90 mins.

Didnt a lot of people here want attractive football over results? Surely he’s a great option for that (although he’s been getting the results nailed on too this season)

He definitely is. Not taking it all away from him as he’s obviously a very good coach but he had the same benefit with Liverpool that season. They had a week to prepare every week and it really helped their rhythm, fitness and coaching plan.

I don’t think people realise how much of a benefit it is to have that extra time.

Saturday game > Sunday rest > Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to work on fitness, individual coaching, team tactics, opposition work and half day Friday to stay fresh and limber before the weekend game.

As opposed to squeezing that process into half the time period of weekend > midweek > weekend. Half the time to prepare for each game, more travelling, less recovery time, less time working with the players individually less time working on team tactics.

He gets his players settled into a nice rhythm that is much harder to achieve with a midweek game.

Give credit where it's due, Leicester are playing a very efficient system. In fact, they are playing better now than when they won the title. I'll be surprised if they finish outside top 4.

Totally agree. Also no pressure helps a lot. Even if he finishes 8 this season his job is secure. It's an absolute free hit.

Yes the shot count is the most important thing when winning the title. Honestly think its more important than points. Seriously though, United and Liverpool are the only 2 teams to beat Leicester and Chelsea. Means nothing though, certainly as far as United is concerned. Hopefully the scousers will get beat by City and then theres 4 teams within 5 points

Why?

He has walked out on three clubs already to take a new job while he was under contract.

Shame those feckers have so much luck because the thought of him denying them is bloody hilarious.

Still, fantastic job. Will be hard for anyone to push them out of top 4.

Surely the 3rd best manager in the league now?

Not bad at all.

Nine goals conceded is incredible. Well done to Brendan and the team.
