I bet these are enforced and a wildly inconsistent basis. They're not fining Billy Gilmour £20 grand if he gets stuck in traffic.
From what I have read from Chelsea players, they fine themselves. When a player is late he puts the money into a pot or something like that. That's what I understood from the story about Kanté often being late.

It's the same at every club i'd imagine. United run a scheme too. Roy Keane has talked about it plenty of times, he used to organise it.

I was going to say, surely a more effective and fair system would be to make it %-based of a player's salary, as they can vary from £20k to £300k a week.

A player who earns less will be punished more heavily than one of the stars at the club, that's how it looks to me.

That would have been what I assumed as well.

I want this to be real (not sure why) but how has this list been verified?

Your teacher tells you to put a dime on the year end travel jar for every swear word that comes out of your mouth.

Just because you're rich doesnt mean you can put a 10 dollar in and swear all day long. They cant just put a million in there on deposit and go on a one month holiday.

I think it's good. I believe the funding would be spent on some treats for the team anyway, probably some event somehow.

Only 2,500 for being late for match day, but 20,000 for being late for training.
It's the same amount if you're late for the report time for training as it is if you are late for the matchday bus. See numbers 1 and 2.

The 20,000 figure is if you are so late that you miss the actual start of training and I would assume that being similarly late for the start of a match is so unheard of that it would trigger much more serious disciplinary action such as a sacking, as that would be a serious breach of contract.

There'd surely be young players who'd really feel the hit of being late for training. Could lose close to a weeks worth of wages.

I reckon there's warnings involved and half arse excuses are accepted etc
I would argue that a more equitable system would be to deduct percentages instead of fixed figures.

These things are very common and this doesn't include the "kangaroo kourt/court" of things between players in the dressing room.

For example, if someone gets a yellow card or red, players would be fined and that would go into a pot. They would be given a point or whatever. The more gimmick or funny player imposed infractions (e.g. photo in the newspaper, TV interview with Gary Neville, etc.) would generate more points. However, the player with the least amount of points wins because they keep to themselves and most of the time, it should be a younger player or good pro who can win the pot of money at the end of the year, end of the month, etc. It's a funny internal game to keep players loose and fun and engaged away from the game itself.

If someone is late in our office more than twice then they have to bring in a pack of biscuits. Relatable.

I doubt there are 1st team players on under £10k a week.
I wonder how much some of their youth teamers made good, like Tomori are on.

You often hear of players on piffling money as they've broken through, and haven't yet re-signed.

Yeah I think the secret footballer talked about that in his book. Players who have their breakthrough season but don't get bumped up to first team wages for a year. Apparently at prem clubs it is quite normal to see a Corsa parked between a Ferrari and a Ramge Rover.

Although in fairness, we at Wycombe had what must have been Chelsea's 4th or so choice goalie on loan a few seasons back, and he was on 15k a week!

Being late for training. £20,000.

That's a years wage for someone. Absolute disgrace.
More than a years wages for lot of folk, me included.

But when you consider most of the players are probably on that a day, in comparison, it’s like fining most of us £50.

So being am hour late to a meeting would cost £30,000? Woof.

If my work had a fine for dialing in late for work calls... Or forgetting about them altogether, I'd be a very poor man
Thats the one that sticks out to me too. I routinely dont turn up to work until around 10am.

Is this system actually legal? It seems like a weird thing that an organisation can impose such rules on its employees.
No this is not legally enforceable. But you can’t really say no when it’s for charity and all you colleagues are doing the same.

Seems a bit harsh if you are one of the youth players just got into the first team on 20k a week, getting fined the same as the more senior players.

I would strongly imagine that these terms are for first teamers above a certain wage.

For youth players and squad player's on a modest wage there's probably a watered down version.

Actually I was wrong. They can enforce it if it is in their contracts.

This is the premier league equivalent of the amateur leagues fine jar for beer money. Just their wages, mean they need a few extra zero's on the end
