Edit:
Okay so that was an admittedly awful thread. My bad, caftards. It was Thanksgiving here in the states and that's the effect of a full day of drinking surmised in one bad post. If you want the original egg-on-face, please see below for any of the quoted replies.

But gee whiz some of you are venom tongued.

Also 8 of the 11 starters yesterday are actual first team players. So pretty much everything I whined about was patently/technically wrong. Guess Astana can be proud about beating us afterall.

What on Earth was Ole thinking? We haven't sealed top spot in the group. We have a miserable record as a whole and duly in need of thrashing a side to get some confidence. We have senior players that are still with us direly needing minutes and freshness. Heck, we need just a solid all around competent performance for 90 minutes. And he decides to leave the team at home and play the academy side.

I really tried to focus on the positive around fielding all those academy boys and indeed a few of them played quite well. But the fact is that traveling team, that lineup were incredibly disrespectful of Manchester United, the traveling fans, the Europa League and Astana.

So mission accomplished:
Ole gets his name in the books - most academy debuts in a European game in a single outing. Woo hoo.

I can't credit any of the good play today to anyone but Butt. The senior players showed themselves to be more poorly coached. And the manager must think running this club is like some video game where you can skip and Sim games moving on to the important ones you actually want to play.
You didn't try that hard.

Please tell me this is one of those sarcasm threads that are just really convincing that the OP is being serious?

TBH I think the traveling fans are fine, and dont need for you to stick up for them from the comfort of your warm bedroom.

Didn't people want to see kids in these mostly meaningless games, especially in the EL? Isn't this what everyone has been asking for for years now?

All the first team players looks tired but apparently some of them needs minutes.

Correct call from Ole imo. Big game on sunday and we need the first team fresh to get back to winning ways especially with th midfield decimated by injuries and incompetence. Get Garner in for Peirra

If anything, he should have done that against Rochedale. One of our key players may have been available these last two months.

Archer, did you honestly hope that we had sent our starting 11 to Astana to play a game that would guarantee us top spot ( not qualification as we had already qualified) and then fly them all back for a very important game against Villa at the weekend?

We are about to enter the busiest period of the season with a thin squad but they should have traveled to pointless game which is closer to Beijing.

I don't see an away game in the Europa League as the best way to do it. At home in a league cup seems better especially considering top spot in a group can prove the difference between a good draw and losing our only chance at getting into the CL

Ah I forgot. Losing is a positive thing now!
You’re tedious. There are very clear an obvious reasons we sent a youthful side to Astana. You’d be the first crying if we’d sent the starting 11 and Martial or Rashford got injured before the busiest period of the season.

Ole setup those youth players for failure.. gave them a nice taste of what playing in the first team under him is like. Reminded me of that 4-0 vs mk dons.. it was a terrible decision to play no first team players we lost to astona and no one cares if it was all youth. We kost to a 10 year old kazak team.. its actually embrassing

I don't have much problem with what happened today. Better than tiring the main team while we have a league to try and improve our diabolical position in it. Wasting effort and players against Astana after qualifying would have been foolish, and I think the travelling fans would have taken the idea of seeing some youngsters and talented prospects in a useless match.

Everyone know my stance on Ole but today isn't a day that I should moan in imo.

You don't see the irony in fans traveling that far but the team not ?

My expectation wasn't a full senior team. But I really felt the likes of Rojo, Matic Young and Mata could use more minutes. Would have been a great game to try Jones at DM..

Well I doubt Astana wanted to be there themselves so I don't get the disrespectful part.

If we sent out some of our first team players and for example Rashford or Martial got injured there would be dog abuse thrown at Ole.

I don't have a feeling he is the right manager for us and hope we are having our eyes on the alternatives, but throwing and turning everything negatively just to take a dump on him is pretty tiresome too.

Sometimes it is better to not write anything than to write so all people can see football knowledge.

This hate against Ole has gone up few levels.

We'd have probably played better. According to Savage the team has been doing well in Football League Trophy or whatever it's called now.

Villa, Spurs and City between Sunday and Saturday, we already have big injury problems but there are people that want the first team to go to Astana for a dead rubber on a Thursday night. Clueless.

One of the few bright spots of this season is seeing all those young players playing for the first team. I'd rather Ole persists with playing Levitt and Garner in midfield than the likes of Matic, Fred and Pereira to name the few. The only thing that bother me is giving Lingard the captain's armband, I think that was a new low.
