Who else do you want in there?
Probably because we have no one else.
So many keep asking the same question.Who else is there.
Garner.

We’re playing Aston VillaPeople having a go at Ole.
Who would want to play a midfield like that?
If McT and Pogba are available, with Fred we would have a pretty good midfield.
The ridiculous thing was that the commentators said he "doesn't miss from there".Our goal has been out down as an own goal . Shame for Rashford who has looked sharp
Villa midfield will walk into our current midfield and it's not even a contest.. Then what Villa coach should say?
50 million! Every time i see that figure it boggles my mind£50 million of it was spent on Fred. He was our big signing last season
Happy days. Why wouldn’t we start such a key player.Garner is a CM.
He hit the post!Own goal ?
That fecking harsh.
AgreeTuanzebe on for Pereira and Greenwood for Mata both straight away, dont wait till last 10/15 or if we go a goal behind
well, it's about as pacey as a rockYeah definitely. Looks solid as a rock that...
Iirc the initial shot has to be on target for the goal to be given.I'm very surprised we're going in level there. Our goal didn't feel like it was coming at all. Very harsh if that goes down as an own goal btw. I suspect it will be awarded to Rashford on review of the goal panel, similar to McTominay ealrier this season.
Anyway great goal by Grealish. Wasn't even that mad at conceding it, but what did annoy me is that Villa continued to dominate the game from there. It wasn't just a case of world class strike against the run of play.
Bloody hell...Villa midfield will walk into our current midfield and it's not even a contest.
What? He's looked about as sharp as a butternut squash. Our goal has been out down as an own goal . Shame for Rashford who has looked sharp
No we have no control over this game is because of poor coaching plain and simple.Lack of a proper midfield is killing us. We’ve got absolutely no control over this game.
A 50m mid finding his feet 18months in? Probably a little generous mate.McT is not a top rated midfielder and Fred is just finding his feet. So I would agree. Why I always blame the board for how we started with this squad.
wrong. It was his choice to go into this season with that midfield.
And its not going to change anytime soon.50 million! Every time i see that figure it boggles my mind
It's fecking absurd. People running this club making those sorts of decisions
He's looked about as sharp as a beach ball. The only positive thing he's done is head the ball towards the post and in off Tom Heaton's arse. Our goal has been out down as an own goal . Shame for Rashford who has looked sharp
As dumb as one too when Jones is in itwell, it's about as pacey as a rock
What? He's looked about as sharp as a butternut squash.
Yup bloody hell i know.Bloody hell...
I know. He was an awful purchase.A 50m mid finding his feet 18months in? Probably a little generous mate.
It's not just tackling. A CM has to be able to receive the ball, needs a good consistent touch and good passing. That's really where Garner is so much better than Pereira. Proper CM.The problem is at the 10 with Mata. Unless Garner is that much better tackler than Pereira
I agree.we should have a strong enough squad to cope but hey if you sell players and don't replace them...
Think part of that is Periera playing that CM role. I like him further up and he can put in a lovely cross, but him trying to defend is crazy. He should be in Mata's role and Garner or dare I saw Williams should play next to Fred. Shaw should be in LBWe don't look that bad in attack, but the defending has been poor. We are so bloody open and give away a lot of space.
Periera as RW or AM isn't as terrible as you make seem. He can play a thread or a wonderful cross but to think he can play anything deep is insane. I do agree Garner is at least in his known position there and should have started. Or as I've said above Williams could have slotted next to Fred, or dare I say Tuanzebe.Horrendous half of football. Goal should go back to Rashford, wasn't really coming out and was probably still going to curl in. Andreas Pereira is a trash footballer but got an assist on the first useful thing he's done in months. Still should get subbed off and sold in January. He's so far off the required level it's ridiculous.
Fred has done ok considering he is a 1 man midfield... Nothing special but all the same can't blame him much when Pereira is next to him.
Wan Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire and Williams have all been shit. Actually everyone has been shit, but the defence and midfield especially. We're being outplayed by Villa at Old Trafford, but hopefully Ole will actually change something here and take pereira off. Preferably Mata off for Lingard as well.
He needs a lot of confidence work from a manager and also needs to play in an actual midfield. Poch would take him up, Ole has to start thinking more on him. Tuanzebe or Williams partnering him in midfield today would have done a lot for him.He has. There is a player there somewhere. That bit of skill earlier was amazing.
Good post. Not a lot of them in this thread. For all the stick I give Ole even I’ve gotta admit our midfield can do nothing to protect our defence in this game. Hence why they have about 4 players driving at our box every time Villa come forward.
Our defence is completely isolated which is worrying when we have someone inexperienced like Williams and Lindelof without much pace. Matic would have made more of a screen for them this match despite the hate he gets. Without McT and Pogba it’s very tough to set about them.
It seems amazing that we couldn't find one midfielder who could improve our quality. It was his choice to go into this season with that midfield.
Jokers, the lot of themAnd its not going to change anytime soon.
Look,80 million on Maguire ?
50 million for AWB ?
Good players but we've been taken for a ride there...again.
