James Garner must be really poor in Solskjær's eyes. We have Fred and Andreas in our midfield, while Pogba and McTominay are out, and still Garner is not a solution. Fred and Andreas are the worst central midfield pair, I have ever seen in United, and we have a manager, who loves to play the young kids, but Garner is still on the bench...

Villa should have won ??, better team in 1st half, yes but not 2nd, Tom Heaton again has another good game at OT, Martial could not finish his dinner, again. Best player Grealish, for Villa, great goal.

Utds useless CM is a issue, big miss again Mctom, hope he's back on Wed, or it's a loss to Spurs again at OT. How can a striker not run at least into 6yrd box when James gets the ball is beyond me, he put 2 in first half , and countless ones in 2nd, Martial just looking for cut back all the time. This guy is supposed to be our no9 . Play as one gamble a bit more, does that today he gets 2 tap in in first half at least. Hopeless. Deserved draw for both teams.

Haven't seen the Caf down immediately after a game in a long time. That says a lot about how people feel about this result, and I can't blame them.

Awful result, and performance to match. Ole keeps talking about the spirit and mentality of this team compared to the squad of last year as the main source of improvement. But that's twice in a week now that we've fought back to take the lead and given it up again, almost immediately in the case of this game. That's not the hallmark of a mentality strong squad, and if he's not delivering that, I'm not sure what else he's delivering at the moment. Granted there are injuries, but we still need to be winning this at home. Especially from a winning position.

It was always going to be a tough week with upcoming games but it's just looking unexpectedly (or was it?) worse after that result.

Villa should have been 2 up in the first half if not that offside call.

No surprises that McGinn and Grealish more than held their own against Fred and Pereira. Both better players than what we could field.

It's easy to feel frustration. We all want United to win. It's not going to get any better until we buy better players, and it doesnt matter who is in charge.

This was the team we had to put out. A hopeless midfield three and a poor bench. There simply isn't any other option.

We were 6th with 26 points from 17 games. So, unless we win our next three matches, we will be even worse off.
We definitely aren't winning the next 2 so yeah we'll be even worse off.

Last season was a fecking horrible nightmare season, and this one is shaping up to be even worse.

Ole Gunnar Sockpuppet.
This is uncalled for, keep it civil and don't do any "sly" digs at the club's legend. Even if you're right and he is not the manager for us, it should end with a handshake and a massive sign of respect from the fans. He'll always answer the call to manage the club and you should respect that.

It's getting to a point where I don't think a 100 transfer windows or 100 manager sackings will do anything for us anymore.

Same old story every game, every year.

This long term injury to Pogba has not been kind to us. And now without Mctominay as well our midfield is solid as a wet newspaper. Feel sorry for Fred who is the only one even resembling a PL midfielder. We need to target 2-3 cm's for the next summer transferwindow.
Rasford and James are pretty good and gets the ball into to box every now and then but absolutely no one gets on the end of them. A player like Haaland can't come fast enough.

That one actually wasn't too bad, ive seen much worse and it probably isn't too far from the truth. I think Ole and the board are on the same side, and he knew he had limited funds last summer and would have to make do with the squad.

I didn't see the game but got the gist of how we were playing from following the thread on here

This is on the bbc text commentary, part of Ole's interview this has really annoyed me as it is so Moyes like

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is talking to TV.

"We didn't go out together as a team," he says. "We should have done better. These boys will learn and improve. Sometimes inconsistency will happen with young boys.

"We failed to control the game at times but we can't do anything about that now. We have to work on us as a team and become a better unit. Aston Villa had too many counter-attacks for my liking."

More from Solskjaer coming up.

So would I, to be fair but my point is, Ole is not a career manager. He doesn't "need" the money or exposure as someone else might, or he'd do whatever to manage any team that would have him when not managing us. He seems like a private person and enjoys it the most. He'll answer the call to be the manager or caretaker or whatever the club needs for the love of the club. He never let the club down as a player when there were teams offering him starting place as a striker, what player would do that now? For this he will always be the special kind of legend.

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskajer: "First half today wasn't good enough, their first goal knocked us emotionally, we didn't compete until half-time. The boys have character, they're young, they have loads of energy and the second half was miles better, but it's a game of two halves as everyone says.
"These boys will improve and learn from this experience. As a club we don't like to be in this position but that's the reality. Wednesday we have a big game, Saturday, these boys are looking forward to every game.
"Inconsistency will happen, in moments we played fantastic and at times we were too open. We failed to control the game but we cant do anything about that now.

What’s the latest excuse today from the Ole in camp?

Villa had better team than us?
The players available to us in the midfield are not of a sufficient enough quality to sustain a top4 challenge. Without McTominay and Pogba, we are a lame duck in the water. No manager is going to fix that.

I have never wanted the season to be over so much. I hated it under Van Gaal but seeing Ole having to try and put lipstick on a pig every week is painful. That was trash and we are trash.

Time to go, it's clear there's a lack of coaching, even when there's an obvious pass on we delay

There's some amount of dossers still here too though, leopards never change their spots, ole needs to let the new man know who they are so they don't get a third chance

The coaching is non-existent. Anybody else noticed how we can't even play a pass in front of our players for them to run onto, they're constantly played behind. No wonder we play such tumescent, slow shite. Such basics that are taught at a very early age.

Haven't seen the match but listening to the radio commentary and reading the posts here it serms like the same old same old.
Any genuine United fan must be desperate for Ole to do well such is his legendary status for the club but I really don't know what to think any more.
At home, against a promoted side, knowing a win will "shoot you up the table to 5th:eek:) and the team flops yet again.
Something drastically has to change before this 7 year rut becomes a decade long plus of depression.
Not happy.....not happy at all!:mad::mad::mad:

Thanks.

Doesn't really matter what he says to the media. It's the on-pitch performance wot counts and it's all a bit shit.

Kid is 18 and played 85 min in Kazakhstan late on thursday. Would be nuts to play him again so soon.

I was Ole In until today. And Im a very positive fan, always looking for upsides, good things to look at and the glass half full, but after this, Im done.

A team on the pitch that for 90 minutes has no idea what they are trying to do, league 1 mistakes at the back. The players also carry a lot of the blame obviously but this cant go on.

If Ole cant lift them and make them at least look like they are trying to do something, fail at it but atleast try, then theres really no reason why he should stay. Its a sad time to be a man united. Worse weve been since Sir Alex retired and for the first time since, I really dont see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Fred has had some awful performances, but today he was one of his better performances.

Four managers in a row that Woodward has got wrong.
Which suggests the problem is far deeper than just the manager. Ole is dreadful, yes, but any manager would struggle here. Do you think that if Klopp was in charge he’d have us challenging? He’d struggle as well. It’s naive to think that just the one manager makes all the difference. It’s because of this naïveté from the fans that we continue to struggle.
