Jose Mourinho | Spurs manager

At every club he's been at since 2002, Mourinho has won trophies. Will he win one at Spurs?

All smiles and happiness now innit. He'll be gone by next Christmas, I'm certain of it. He'll finish top 4-5 and Levy will tighten the purse.
I think he will be there a bit longer. But I see what you are getting at, Jose is not a long term manager. But then nowadays, who is?

Does it mean Pochettino is shit then? And where does that leave the Poch fanboys?
He is far from shit, he is a very good coach but his time was up. He had a very good first team in his 2/3 season and for some reason people thought they were over preforming which we probably were as a squad but not as a first team. Last season for what ever reason the wheels came off, mostly after January.

Exactly. I think the days of long tenures like SAF and Wenger are over. The proverbial coaching carousel is the new normal.

If we are talking about the actual meeting and it gets aired it's quiet disrespectful and bad taste IMO. I hope it just means the cameras were around when he went for the meeting and then after.

I have no idea, just seems odd when he has so much money.
I never actually saw a problem with it. It wasn't like a hotel room, it was more like a serviced apartment which he was renting.

I would say that's the truth of it.

If Jose now turns it around and does a great job at spurs, what does that do to the "Ole is a norwegian idiot that barely knows what a football is"-narrative? If Jose isn't actually past it, who is to blame for United being shit under him?

Seems like a changed man at Spurs ...
I noticed that. I have seen him smile more in 2 matches with Spurs than he did for the better part of 3 years here.

I still have my popcorn ready for the usual Jose implosion; blaming players or complaining about not getting his 10 signings will come eventually. Just a case of how long until it takes place not if it takes place.

He usually does well as underdog. He was that in Europe with both Porto and Inter and won with both, didn't win with Chelsea or Real Madrid where expectation of success in Europe was much higher. Maybe this will help him. He also looks motivated again but he also looked this way when he started at United, means nothing long term.

I'm not really sure Inter could be classed as an underdog. They were clear second favourites for that title.

Although given how good Barca were I guess you could make a case for even the next fav being underdog.

Yeah, might be a good setup for Jose.

He might also have realised that his reputation has taken a knock after the United spell (maybe the lack of offers from any of the so called super clubs) which means he can ill afford another doomed spell. Who knows. Old dog. New tricks. etc.

Doesn't stop some Poch fans saying he will turn our club into title contenders.

I honestly have no idea if he could, he certainly would have more backing from United than Levy. His signings for us have been hit and miss, but usually the hits have been massive. Id like to see him back in management cause he genuinely is a very likable guy.

You know well enough that he can't do that with us. Look at how incompetent our board is - we need a miracle worker to be able to do anything in those conditions.

He could do that with the right backing in my opinion. He is a superb coach and if he came to Utd I have no doubt that you guys would absolutely love him.

People don't change in their 50s. He can assume a personality for a week or two but the original one comes out sooner rather than later.
Why the hell cant people change in there 50s? I'm not saying there wont be a melt down but to broad brush say oldler people cant change is a bit, well ignorant.

This question can be answered by asking how many managers we have gone through with either minimal improvement, no improvement, or regression. At some point you have to stop pointing the finger at the manager(s) and look elsewhere for the rot. Moyes, LVG, Jose, now Ole, who could soon be sacked, and we move onto whoever is next.

How many more managers do we go through until we realise it is not the manager. Admittedly it is cheaper to sack a manager than rebuild a team for each new manager.

From reading the articles about it, they just videod some staff tidying up some loose ends between Poch leaving and Mourinho arriving the next day - tidying up the office and so on.

The article headline is a bit hyperbolic.

The thing what he always does good are reactions during the game. Against Olympiacos he didn't wait, he made a sub after 30 minutes and switched formation.

Apparently he turned down £15M from Madrid not to take any job as they were planning to appoint him if ZZ turned bad. Bollocks I say.

José is just not a people person, circumstances will never change his characteristics because of how strong his ego is. Soon as Spurs hit a dead run of results and the screws start turning, he'll begin to alienate himself from the players. Imagine Pep going to Chelsea, United and then to Spurs within a few years of one another. That so me screams desperation.

I would beg to differ here - I think his football personality is not his real self. I get the impression he caricatured himself over the years and generally struggles to cope with the pressure of that perceived personality.

If that's the case, his more humble approach should serve him well this time around. In reality though, it's probably the lowest pressure job he's ever had - he's pretty much been expected to win the league in every other job he's had.

Needs to sort out Spurs woeful defence. Didnt see the match but they shipped two goals late on in the game again. Maybe time to move on some of the old guard and bring in a 'Jose' player or two over Christmas.

I tell you what. After seeing those quotes from Woodward, where he admits he gives new deals to players he knows aren't good enough, I understand why Jose lost his marbles at Man Utd.

Jose save us....

Come on top reds. Give your best shot.
He tried. But Woodward.

Can you link this to me? I'm in shock and anger at the same time. I've been a staunch Jose defender because it just made no sense to me to hire a man than needs an open wallet and authority over players and deny him both. If Ed's actually insinuated this , straight from the horses mouth...I just..I don't know
