Thing is, it's honest question. If we sack him and get someone like Poch or Allegri in now, is it quaranteed that they either make our midfielders Andreas and Fred play 2x better or get two high quality signing in midfield department this winter?

WIthout that quarantee, how can we expect them to finish us higher than Ole could by the end of this season?

Or maybe there is a chance that Ole get's the funds to find a midfield addition this winter and Pogba stays fit the remaining of the season and we finally would have a working midfield setup to go with the attack and defence, which would also make Ole's job easier to achieve us top6?

There are so many hypotheticals and if's and but's, that simply one sacking and hiring can't solve it all. That alone wouldn't quarantee us 30 more points by the end of season.

I read this situation as we want to show we're backing him, believe in him, but I bet if we keep dropping points and looking hopeless they'll be left with no choice. This strategy only works if we're seeing progress, which we're not.

Its just hard to make a case for him to stay.

I always look at our results back to the PSG game (cos thats when everything seemed to go to shit). SInce then we have played 23 times in the league. We have won 6, Drawn 8 and lost 9. Thats 26 points out of a possible 69.

If you compare the other Managers we have had since Sir Alex left their records for their last 23 games are:

Mourinho: W 10, D6 L7 - 36pts
LVG: W 11, D4, L8 - 37 pts
Moyes: W11, D4, L8 - 37pts.

Not only does that highlight to me that Ole is taking us backwards, but Christ we have been bang average for a lot longer than I realised.

Its a results business at the end of the day and his time is almost up. Two heavy defeats in the next 2 games will surely do it.

I think the standard has been considerably loosened though. Before Woody would sack if we weren't making top 4. Now he's happy if we finish 10th.

In theory, but I doubt it. Because there are money men to please. If we finish 10th, looking shite, I think Ole will be thanked for his service this season and let go. That feels like a million years away though right now.

If Ole can’t do the job now, hasn’t had a great managerial career then in all likelihood he isn’t going to transform into a much better manager. There is no need for Utd to have a second rate manager just because he used to play for us.

Maybe a new manager can’t get much more out of this squad but he could at least start implementing some kind of plan and system. That’s biggest issue with Ole he’s just picked up where Jose left off and that’s not what we need. Even if he does keep the job for rest of this season or next year he’s got nothing to build on.

Nothing is a guarantee in football. If you're working from the starting point that if something's not guaranteed then why do it, you'll do nothing. It's also the wrong question to ask whether Poch or someone else could make the midfielders we got now that much better. I think he could get better results than what Ole has got, but we haven't got a great team, and the midfield in particular is very poor. Poch isn't gonna make Fred or Pereira into Keane and Scholes. But, again, that's not the point. The question should be, is he the man to propel us forward in the long run.

In terms of Poch, the answer would be a yes from me. Personally i think Ole is out of his depth and i don't trust him to get us back to where we need to be.

Some articles are saying different, but they aren't credible articles to be fair.

But I do think Ed has massively lowered the standard for Ole. Every one of our previous 3 has been let go when the club was in better form than Ole currently, and it's not like Ole didn't spend in the summer.

Ed reportedly reckons if you buy over a few windows, Ole will sort it out. Which is presumptuous, unfounded and completely consistent with his standards of logic.

This season is already toast. This is all about getting the right manager in place in good time for the summer and next season. That is all anyone should be caring about.

Yes. He is definitely getting the sack. The question is whether Woodward is going to pull the plug early like last season or dither till we are mathematically out like with LVG and Moyes.

No. Those are just words to show to the stakeholders that he has some sort of long term vision. Unless our results dramatically improve, Ole wont be here next season.

Talk from within the club is already confirming he’s in absolutely no danger of losing his job. The timing has to be right, and I wouldn’t supporting firing a manager while having no plan in place, but there happens to be a very good manager out of work at the moment (Poch). This place will melt down when he takes another job and Ole is still here. I think Ole is here until the end of the season unless we’re in real danger of relegation, which is a sorry state to be but there we are.

Yeah that meltdown will come. In the end I think keeping him despite results are the right choice. Imo we are moving in the right direction and will benefit in the long run. People here are allowed to feel infuriated about the season, but we need to look long term and not be shortsighted.

The other reason we cant keep dithering about sacking him, while I'm not entirely sure who I'd replace him with, is we are not the only club looking for a manager, Arsenal are actively looking as well

Reality is we are going backwards and if things don’t pick up only scenario is Ole gets sacked. That’s what happens and entrusting future to someone so out of his depth and with a negative and very simple way of playing simply doesn’t make sense.

Only thing that can buy Ole time is a big upturn in results or more likely Poch is reluctant to take job straight away.

Club has to say they back him, they backed Jose day before he was sacked. Ole will get same treatment.

People do have to bear in mind that Poch probably has a clause in his contract that means he cant manage a Premier League team until the end of the season.

Levy would not fail to get something like that in there.

He's not taking this seriously. He's smiling like an idiot after a draw which feels like a lost. I know united aren't exactly top 4 material just yet, but if you want the confidence from the fans and real support. At least beat these fecking teams united should be beating. No excuses. It's pathetic.

I'd be smiling if I was getting reassurance from the board that my dream job was completely safe despite my being completely out of my depth

It reminds me a little of Moyes charging down the touchline punching the air after salvaging a draw against the mighty Fulham having stunned them with 80 crosses

Thank you for your news flash Sherlock. Now going back to your question if I asked you what good would it do keeping Ole for these 2 matches if it won’t change the outcome of us being underdogs?

The fact of the matter is if we are going to sack Ole in the summer or when we won’t make top 4 etc then why not sack him now when we have a chance of getting Poch? Wasn’t it we kept LVG and missed out on Pep..? History repeating its self, agreed Poch and no Pep but he’s got to be the best choice at the moment!
You should take up politics

Results is not the only factor. Building something great takes time. We all know that we had to do a major rebuild. I suggest some patient. Anyhow, this is my opinion on the matter.

Such a lazy nonsensical comment I hear too often on here! Of course no ones fecking happy if we finish tenth! We’re a far more powerful business and brand if we’re winning! Don’t forget the hundreds of millions we’ve wasted over the last seven years either

As much as I'm alarmed at how poor we can be I'm not at all surprised . This is the weakest squad we have had in a very long time and while I'm aware it's been made weaker by selling some 1st team players I think it's a clear out that's been needed .

This season is a complete write off and if we buy in January and again next summer then I'm happy enough to be patient and see if Ole and the club actually have a proper plan for the coming years unlike every season since Ferguson left .

Dispite our league position the football we are trying the play is generally more exciting than under LVG and Jose which I suppose isn't hard . Pogba at the moment is a huge miss but Ole needs to deploy him in the number 10 role instead of a sitting midfield 2. I thought in the 2nd half yesterday that Fred showed glimpses of having something about him which was long overdue .

I will continue going to games and just hope January beings us something in the transfer market and we can keep injury free

To be fair, the famous gif was after United going 2-1 up. Your point still stands though.

It’s a huge factor though and no signs we’re building anything let alone something great. I’m all for being patient if there is some kind of plan and competence sadly this club has neither.

I agree with you and honestly this is the opinion of most fans I talk to before and after games . Our league position isn't telling the truth of how we are . It's small mistakes like missing penalties or yesterday Williams sleeping for the 2nd goal that is killing us .
Injuries with our paper thin squad has also been very unlucky. But I agree patience is needed right now and let's see where this rebuild takes us because we can't just keep sacking managers and praying someone works a miracle in the year our fans seem to give each one

There's nothing to learn from that tweet.

Even if the board were preparing to sack Ole, the last thing they would do is suggest as much to Jamie Jackson. The board have been supportive of all our managers post-Fergie, only to throw them to the wolves when the time was right in their eyes.

It was reported last week that Poch's £12.5 million severance payment would need to be returned if he takes another job in the prem this season.

Well it does sound like the players, staff and board are happy with the long term plan. I think this is the right way. Ole might not be the one in the end. We can’t keep working on quick fixes like we have done.

Time will tell if this was a good plan going forward long term.

We are the laughing stock of world football.

It’s absolutely heartbreaking watching this all unfold. 99.9% of clubs would have sacked Ole for this disgraceful run of results. Then again, 99.9% of teams would never have appointed him in the first place:(

I am happy to hear that and I had the feeling most fans think that way. It’s going to be hard, but I think it will be worth it.

Agreed. He just doesn’t come across as someone who’s going to give bollockings to a player. He comes across as far too meek to be a manager. Sir Alex was a hard nosed bastard of a manager.

Hes just happy to be there and isn’t willing to rock the boat when he really should against these owners and CEO. To them he’s probably just the friendly guy in a suit, who smiles and says “yes sir” a lot.

They dont inform journalists about impending sackings but they would definitely notice it if he's losing the dressing room. All three managers before him had plenty of warning in advance.

Klopp has been at Liverpool 3 seasons before he won anything ? Is that not a 3 year rebuild ? He has completely changed his starting 11 from when he took over is that not a rebuild ?

That’s the things. Mourinho lost the dressing and the players stopped playing for him. With Ole the players, apparently, like him but they appear clueless.. very damming of Ole as manager.
