The fact that long tail strategies are better than short tail should be a factor in this case.

I don’t know if Ole is the right fit for a long term rebuild, but he is here now doing it with all the shit it brings. We may find out that we want someone else to take over after this season. But sure as hell a long tail strategy is better than a quick fix. Sacking Ole now would be so damn stupid and would prove that our board are the worst. It’s not going to happen, they are not that stupid.
A long term isn’t beneficial if it’s not any good and it’s being implemented by people that aren’t qualified.

If they sack Ole it will have nothing to do with stupidity, blindly sticking with him and even appointing him could be called stupid. If they choose to sack they will just be doing what football clubs do. If results don’t improve he’ll be sacked, there’s no other option.

Because I have read that sentence too many times on here: „we are not a sacking club“.

Number of Managers in the last ten years:

Manchester United: 6
Manchester City: 5
Liverpool: 5
Chelsea: 13
Arsenal: 3

Bayern: 11
Real: 8
Barcelona: 5
What a stupid way to bend the truth.

We have sacked 3 managers in the last 10 years @Jaap

I'm not yet Ole out (somehow) but I know he won't be sacked this season. We won't get too near the bottom three, we'll continue to have these sorts of results, win, lose, draw, end up around 6-8th and then we will see what happens next year. The season is a write off by the club. They've invested too much PR into this being a sea change for the club with Ole at the wheel. Way too much "it's a process" talk to think they're going to make any change.
If we have already written off this season even before Christmas, and that we are already expecting 6-8th place, and somehow still keeping this current manager, the standards of this club have well and truly fallen. Mediocrity beckons.

Give this man 4 years contract
Yeah mate that's exactly what I said. I'm one of the very few who never wanted him appointed. Club legend and now has fans willing him to fail and want him gone.

And the 27.2% is wrong it's 48%. 24 wins out of 50.

It's not wrong, is it biased? yes, is it selectively left out to make it look worse? yes.

But is that a slander if he's actually that bad? Forget about stats, we only have 4 wins this season, based on that alone he is that bad.

27.2% in the last 20 or so games is enough sample to judge whether a certain manager deserves time or not. Watford already sacked two managers for under performing this season. Poch had an excellent record at Spurs but again was sacked after having better win % from the last 20 or so games than Ole. Correct me if I'm wrong but since March Ole has the worst win % in the league from all employed managers of teams that weren't relegated.

Almost half way through the season and we have the same wins as Newcastle.

As much as I think the sooner he's sacked, the better, it feels more grim than ever. I certainly won't be jumping around, the club is in a tragic state.
Same. I'm not naive enough to think there's any real guarantee the next chapter will be any better, after being so happy Jose is gone, I've learnt my lesson now.

Same but you have to believe in your common sense. Pochettino was the right man when we signed Jose and he was the right man when we gave Ole that stupid permanent contract.

Just hope he’s got a point to prove.

My prediction is Solskjaer will leave amicably at the end of the season after we finish midtable and we'll get Pochettino who won't be able to join another club until then due to a contract clause.

Woody won't want to negotiate with managers who are under contract so forget about Rose, Nagelsmann, ten Hag, Rodgers etc.

I feel this last 24hrs has seen a huge change in the media towards Ole and he is no longer getting an easy time.
The stats are bang against him now and I think he will be sacked Thursday/Friday. Jose will have the last laugh - at least it won’t be Liverpool for this manager.
The more I look at all the stats under Ole’s reign, I’m starting to think it may be the right decision. He’s blown his chance and I think the coaching staff should take the blame too. Whoever comes in needs to clear the coaching staff out pronto.

I guess he still has the mindset of a reserve coach, which is all about lifting the spirits and backing the players no matter what.

Sadly, as a head coach/manager, you sometimes has to be harsh and stop using players that dont perform. It will be his downfall.

Missing your point here? I’m not advocating we retain him. His record this season is probably better than Poch’s if we wish to be very selective on where we get stats from.
United’s problems are far deeper than just changing the manager.

So Ole is not the reason why we have a 20% win record?

Ah ok so he is 100% responsible. Thanks for enlightening me. I was thinking the players, coaches and the owners must have some role, but no you’ve nailed it as all on Ole, bravo.

So we change our manager every other season and still we’re not challenging for the top honours and you (and others) think it’s all down to the manager? Insanity is rife  .
Ask yourself who hires the manager and structures the club, sets budgets, buys players. Who’s actually keeping Ole employed in a job he should never have got outside of being a caretaker.
We were above spuds in the league when he was sacked if that’s what you were replying to?

When a manager gets sacked, the only thing that matters is the last 20 games forms, and rightly so, otherwise Poch would still manage hotspur.

Jose United stats was much higher than his last 13 games stats, doesn't mean he's doing fine.
The stats you originally quoted weren't the last 20 games of managers, it was the overall records of 2 managers and a partial record for Ole, so your response is completely irrelevant.

I don’t see a better team selection or formation being suggested on these threads and I think it’s because there isn’t a better option at the moment. We need a central midfielder and the two that are injured back.

I’ll judge him after January if he’s still here which I hope he is. I’m not a believer in the manager being at fault all the time and I, like the rest of us, have no idea what’s going on behind closed doors to speculate about player attitudes or reasons for transfers.

My point is - if we choose to be selective and go with the results since he was made permanent - the sample size is good enough to sack him already and not to give him more time.

I’m tired of this argument that the problems are not only with the manager. That one is clear, but the manager - being inept and totally out of his depth is a major one and needs to be removed.

The Guardian, Goal.com, Daniel Taylor in the Atlantic all running markedly similar stories in the last 48 hours would seem to indicate that Ed has been busy. All of them (plus his recent UWS interview with Andy Mitten) very much pushing the "Ole is completely safe" line to such an extent that you have to think it is actually true, this time.

I really believe that Ole will be here for a while yet.

Or Ed has learnt his lesson and not giving anything away which is exactly what he did with Mourinho, who’s job was safe day before he was sacked.

They can’t not sack Ole based on how things are going, even if they decide to stick it out to end of the season he’ll have to go then.

Ole is as good as gone it’s just a question of when not if. Moyes also thought it was a long term project but he didn’t give anyone anything to buy into, no progress, just regression. Ole is exactly the same, if he was here next season he’d be starting with his job under threat.

Ok. forgot about stats, 20 games, whole career, etc.

If [Put any top 4 teams in Europe manager] Last 14 games is 4-6-4 they will be sacked, or at least under heavy critics if not hanging on a thread.

Just putting things into perspective, I don't even name names. Any Top 4 Manager (zidane, Simeone, Contec, Brendan, Pep, etc) all would probably got the sack.

My thoughts too, but things will change fast if we keep losing & dropping points. Could be 5th if we beat Spurs though. No manager is immune from the sack if things go really bad.

all those who defend Ole are talking nonsense, Brandon Rogers took over Leicester city after Ole and he is already 14 points above him now. He did not take over Barcelona, it is fecking Leicester city ffs.

To be fair, I'm yet to see anyone defend Ole by claiming that he is actually a good manager.

Mostly, the arguments in favour of keeping him centre around the assumption that he knows what it takes to build a squad that can play the "United way", and therefore needs to remain in situ until the overhaul is complete.

Says it all really. "Its our DNA", "this is how we do things". Its all sound bites in other words bullcarp.

He is out of his depth with a coaching team to match. What does Carrick do, sorry he sits there and offers bugger all. If its a learning process then he needs to be at Rochdale or somewhere to learn.

Tactically clueless group. This thing on youth only 3 of those players may make it at OT there is no class of 92, Even McTominay who we rely on is pretty ordinary.

The worrying thing from the Villa game was that it was only Mata that seemed to try and make runs in and around the box (and most have slated him). Martial & Rashford were like a couple of statues. Flipping clueless.

Ole looks like he's aged 10 years in that photo since he got the job.

I think this is all coming to a boil now. We lose both matches, he's as good as gone. I just hope the club does not make another monumental feck up in appointing the next manager. I'm not convinced our current form is down to just Ole's coaching and tactics. The entire coaching staff needs cleaned out if Ole has to go.
