"Because of the way we come to the game by the emotional way, they had more emotion than us, you see for example McTominay performance, the globality of his performance, he was dominant."
I didn't know a player performance can have something like "globality"

Barnstorming performance. We've missed him badly while he was out. If he improves his passing significantly he could actually become near world class. Luckily he's got time to do that. Or just better passers alongside him. United great in the making...

That whole weird thing where Jose invented an award to give to him and we all naturally assumed it was just to big himself up, and it turns out it, like, might’ve actually been genuinely worth it!?

He's trying too hard to force the issue with his passing. That's both a good thing (because he's not afraid to take responsibility) and a bad thing (because he's about as creative as a Borat impression).

He's brilliant.

We really missed his presence in the midfield, he isn't very good passer of the ball but he is good ball carrier and he is very strong physically which is something we missed.

Gave away possession couple of times (or few more times) in our own half, should cut those. Him and Fred have formed good partnership, with Pogba's return we should improve our creativity and create more chances.

It really is baffling how much he has improved. I spent the last couple of hours before the game waiting for the lineup just to see if he would play.

As soon as i saw his name on the team sheet, i felt confident.

His all round intensity was as good as ever, but my God his passing has become so good. Plays the correct passes almost all the time, whether short or long. And the way he carries the ball through traffic, just power through most times.

Glad to have him back.

His absence has highlighted just how integral he is to the midfield. Has proper grown in to this role and continues to grow by the game. Look forward to see him Fred and Pogba start together, could potentially change the trajectory of our season going in to the new year.

I am so happy for the lad after all the grief our fan base has given him over the past few seasons. Patience is scarce commodity amongst football fans

He shrugged off Kane like it was nothing.

Mourinho would start him in that Spurs team, no doubt about it.

Already better than "used to be valued 50 million" Eric Dier.

The part in bold was what I was thinking at a point in the game. Maybe we should let him concentrate more on other things - with an above average passing of course - and have better passers surrounding him. To that end it will be nice to to get two midfield reinforcement in the coming transfer window but I want Ole to be bold in giving more game time to Garner, Levitt and Gomes. I still believe they and others umentioned are endowed enough to make a career here. Or maybe somewhere else.

McT is doing great and has still time to improve passing and shooting. He however needs to cutout his tendecy of taking too long on the ball and losing possession unnecessarily

Fred carried him yesterday. Weird to see all this praise
Please tell me you're joking. White text, anything?!

Fred was fantastic also, but he doesn't reach that level of performance without Mctominay next to him. They both work together really well and raise eachothers game, they have a great partnership.

it's definitely not "weird" to see praise for him at all, in fact I'd say the only weird thing is you not seeing how good he was. He battered Tottenham "the most physical team in the league" all over.

What a player. I don't see if there's any issue with his passing actually (a lot of posters criticize him on that aspect). His decision making is fantastic, always choosing the right pass or dribble. He has quite good technique so it makes it look like he's got more time on the ball.

What was it again, 70% pass accuracy, right? lost the ball/dispossessed multiple times, in fact, Spurs goal can be directly traced to him losing the ball in midfield. So yeah, I’m surprised by the praise.

To me, Fred carried him.

Stats don't tell the whole picture. You can play safe all game and have a 95% passing accuracy like Cleverley used too, but you go nowhere so whats the point? both he and Fred were forcing passes and trying to drive us up the pitch.

He did lose the ball once in midfield that I can remember, mainly from an awful pass from Lindelof that put him under pressure.

For the fact he's only trained for a few days, I was very, very happy with his performance. I think you're being massively picky and judgemental.

He already has a very good shot on him. That said, with the ‘agenda’ accusations, I was reading all the glee over the last couple of pages afraid of being the one to raise the concern about the fact that he can’t pass a fecking ball anywhere near well enough. Thankfully a couple of others have mentioned it now. In all this unbridled praise, I’m here scratching my head that it doesn’t seem to bother people how often he gives the ball away. Reading the match day thread, I saw it mentioned throughout the game, and then came in here and the summary is ‘Roy Keane’s back’.

To me, he does a lot of things very well, but he isn’t good enough on the ball. My concern with the midfield is that we seem to be a ‘stop the other team playing’ midfield, even at our very best. A good performance is how often we broke up the play and all that stuff, and has been that way for a few years now, especially against the better teams. I think at our stature, we need to start moving towards controlling possession ourselves. I still see our midfield unable to make a lot of passes that would make the difference, and just the general play one-touch triangles etc. The emphasis on tackling, chasing, blocking and pressing is a bit too much for my liking.

I like the way he forces passes between the lines. He's not afraid to fizz hard passes into the forwards. He's playmaking, for lack of a better expression. Keano was like that. He'd never settle for square balls. Always looking to get the ball forward in some way. It's a very simple skill, yet one so often missing from our midfielders.

I think he’s really good on the ball. He has a good first touch and is deceptively nimble with the ball at his feet for a guy of his statue, which makes him a good dribbler and able to get out of tight spots.

He drives us forward brilliantly.

Hands up there is room for improvement with his passing though. But equally you can’t accuse him of being “safe” - he looks to play it forward.

For a 22-year old lad, he is turning into essential and is close to mainstay.

The difference this guy makes to our midfield is palpable. He’s clearly our most influential midfielder in terms of team performance. Here’s hoping Pogba will make an impact on his return too.

Hmm, fair enough.

I mean, he's made a strong case to be our most important player now... which isn't half saying something considering opinions on him 12 months ago.

It's between him and Rashford anyway.

He's the first player who's come through our youth system, since those under SAF,that you can see a gradual progression with each passing performance.

Overall, his physical attributes are extremely vital in our side.
When he's out ,and for all of Fred's and Perriera's endeavours, his loss is abundantly clear.

Fred player well yesterday, really well.

McTominay was not carried by him. Scott was excellent in his own right.

Yes because Marcus hasn't improved at all since he has debuted.

What a top midfielder. He adds too much solidity to our midfield it can't be underestimated.

Yeah - McTominays passing is actually very Keane-esque.

I feel a lot of people on the caf may never have seen Keane play in the flesh so your comparison has made me think . Keane did indeed drive a lot of forward passes through the lines the way Scott McTominay does.

They might have complained that Roy Keanes passing was poor too - because sometimes it was. I can’t really think of too many occasions where Keane directly -made- a goal, he had 33 assists in well over 300 games. But he always fizzed the ball in to the strikers or out wide and got things moving whenever he could - it was more the impetus he gave us and if you watch old Man Utd games it’s plain to see.

I’m extremely excited by McTominays continuing improvement. Scotland with him and McGinn will have one -hell- of a midfield. Man Utd look good with him and Fred even

Still think we need to sign someone to play next to him as I see Pogba getting sold.

You know the hype this lad would be getting off the press if he picked England instead of Scotland?
