Instead of spending cash on Sarr, they should have reinforced their defense IMO.
Watford have always been hit and miss. Get to 40 points and go on holiday (West Brom also used to be like this). Last season they did very well indeed for 3/4 of the season then had poor end and got trashed in the cup final.Whoever comes in has a pretty easy job really. Their squad is way better than the other sides near the bottom. They've got genuine quality in Delofeu and Sarr and then decent players with Gray, Deeney etc. Midfield is pretty strong as well for a bottom Prem side, Capoue, Pereyra and Doucoure is a solid midfield. Defence is the weak point but they've been coached horrifically to be in the position that they are in. With a decent appointment (not overly likely given their track record) they'll finish mid table easily. Of the current bottom half of the league, only United, West Ham and Everton have better squads. Bournemouth is probably similar.

Ziganda is an awful manager. Why would they even try go for him?According to the Atlantic, Roger Schmidt and Marcelino turned down Watford job, and Chris Hughton, Paul Clement and Sam Allardyce are not under consideration.
And according to Sky, Watford held unsuccessful talks with ex-Athletic Bilbao boss Jose Angel Ziganda.
He prevented Leicester from going down by going on a 8 win run iirc. Don't know how much input he had in transfers but he was manager when they signed Mahrez and Vardy.Feels like an appointment made with one eye on next season in the Championship, which makes no sense if Chris Hughton is available. Pearson is a good manager for the Championship too, mind you. Not sure he can come in and do anything to prevent them from going down in the first place though.
Marcelino is a very good manager. But if he didn't accepted the transfer strategy at Valencia he would clearly refuse to manage a nuthouse again.According to the Atlantic, Roger Schmidt and Marcelino turned down Watford job, and Chris Hughton, Paul Clement and Sam Allardyce are not under consideration.

not the same without Shakespeare and Walsh with him, both out of work but not sure how their relationship is now daysHe prevented Leicester from going down by going on a 8 win run iirc. Don't know how much input he had in transfers but he was manager when they signed Mahrez and Vardy.

Apparently they didn't even talk to Allardyce. Has he become so toxic that even teams threatened with relegation won't go near arguably the best manager at keeping teams in the Premier league?Tweet
