More experience needed in this game. We could do with a core spine of 4-5 experienced players. We've no need to "rest the whole team" or anything like that.

Just wondering even though it is very unlikely to happen but could this game be called off due to the severe weather conditions? Or will it most likely have calmed down by then?

Some people don't half post some rubbish, get a grip.
Maybe READ the thread and see that I've already acknowledged that this isn't, in fact, an issue before jumping in with comment like this?

Not quite sure if they are all fit, but:

    Romero
    Dalot - Tuanzebe - Rojo - Williams

    Andreas - Garner

    Gomes Mata Lingard

    Greenwood

Would replace Andreas with Levitt. The lad looked very comfortable alongside Garner in Kazakhstan. This is a far better opponent, and hence an even better opportunity to gauge his level.

I think we need to keep Fred, McT, Rashford, James and Martial fresh for the PL game. Can also rest Maguire and Lindelof, though he may play one of them. I think Matic will get some game time, provided he his fit. This team really should be capable of getting a result. There is enough quality there.

I think this might be a semi-strong team as we need to avoid defeat to win the group (which I'm sure will be the aim). However, I do think that we should be resting 9-10 players if possible as well. Will have to see what Ole says in the presser. Would be nice to see Matic & Rojo in the squad to be a bit fitter and potentially provide cover if required over Christmas (mostly the Colchester game). I believe Pogba, Fosu-Mensah and Dalot are expected to miss out but it would be good to get those guys back in contention (mostly Pogba obviously). Realistically, the only players that started against City or Spurs that should/could start here are Young, Martial, and Greenwood.

Young because he didn't start the City game. Martial because he didn't start the Spurs game, and Greenwood as he should be starting every game like this one. Martial could do with 60 minutes and another goal. Romero, Tuanzebe, Williams, Garner, Andreas, maybe Mata and a CB (probably Jones unfortunately) should all be getting game-time in this game for sure. Would like to see Levitt again, potentially from the start too.

Edit: Laird, Bernard, Garner, Chong, Gomes all start for the U23's tonight so unlikely to be included. Expected the latter three to at least be in the squad, but probably not. No Levitt though. Injured? If not, small chance he is on the bench on Thursday. Probably depends on fitness of Matic, Fosu-Mensah, Pogba etc.

My Europe League choices look shot after seeing the under 23's team tonight, but I think that confirms Williams, Levitt and Greenwood. Interested to see if Dalot or TFM is fit to start, or perhaps Young will get a run out at RB. Garner was subbed after 60 minutes, so perhaps he will start as well.

Put a decent side out and get a win:
    Romero
Young, Tuanzebe, Lindelof, Shaw (needs more minutes)
    Lingard, Pereira, Garner
    Mata
    Greenwood, Gomes

We need at least a draw to secure first place in the group so I wouldnt be playing a squad full of youngsters, specially now that its crucial to keep the momentum going.

    Romero
    Young-Tuanzabe-Jones-Williams
    McTomminay-Fred
    Greenwood--Pereira----James
    Martial

Anybody wanting to throw this game should think again. We need to keep up the winning momentum and mentality regardless of the opposition.

The Astana game didn't really benefit us did it? Rest players yes, but play for the win.

    United 2-0
That's the United mentality I know. We've had a big step away from that on here. Not just this season, going back to cafe wanting to lose the FA Cup final if it would guarantee Liverpool not winning the Champions League.

It did, first team played 3 games in a week and won 2 of them, running 111 kms in both games. They had good 1 week rest before Villa game so they were much better prepared for this week.

I want us to take this game seriously and win obviously, but the likes of Wan-Bissaka, McTominay, Fred, Rashford, and James in particular have done an incredible amount of running over the last week or so. I'd much rather they were left out completely, or maybe one or two of them on the bench as insurance (one of Rashford/James, maybe McTominay as whilst recently injured he's at least been able to rest for a few games previously). Playing Romero to keep him sharp shouldn't be an issue at all, while resting one or both of Lindelof/Maguire is something we might get away with, but could be less required than the others I've already mentioned.

There will still be experience in this side with probably Romero, Young, Jones, Mata, Andreas, and Martial backed up by Tuanzebe, Williams, Greenwood and even potentially the likes of Matic or Rojo if they are passed fit. I think it will be quite a mix of usual first-team contenders, squad players and a few youth players. We also have the Colchester game coming up this month to rest the most important players from the first team. That game could be a bit closer to what we did with the Astana fixture, but I'd expect a few more squad players and maybe the odd first teamer in there too.

Definitely interested to see the presser and hoping Tuanzebe, Williams, Garner, Levitt, Gomes, Chong, and Greenwood are in the 18.

I hope we don't underestimate colchester. A title would be nice this season and we are close to a final now.

Play the kids with Greenwood and maybe Shaw to get game time (hopefully don't pick an injury). OGS could play the last 10 minutes if needed to win the game. We need to win the Everton game on sunday.

Matic is back. Dalot has been training. Rojo and Pogba not ready for this. TFM and Bailly start training with the team next week.
