You'd think i'd grow out of it but I get more nervous about our first match in the FAYC each season than I do for the first-team in the FA Cup.

Anyho, injuries permitting i'd go with this:

Mastny
Bejger Fish Mengi Devine
Mejbri McCann Helm
Wellens Hoogerwerf Elanga

Svidersky, Sotona, Shoretire and Forson or Mason Greenwood on the bench, just in case!

Edit: as Mengi is still eligible he comes in for Hughes. and partners Fish with Bejger back to right-back.

Don't know why but I had Mengi as too old, it's the last time I count on my fingers and toes
Considering he has been playing U23 football this season its easy to forget. But yeah he is still 17 years old.

True as that may be - it really shouldn't matter against Lincoln. Having said that - we probably have the worst record of all top-teams of going out to minnows in the FA Youth Cup. There have been some shocking results over the last 10 years.

Last year we won against Chelsea - and got destroyed at home to Brighton in the 4th round
17/18 - out to Derby on penalties in the 3rd round
16/17 - out to Southampton at home in the 3rd round
15/16 - destroyed by Chelsea at home in the 5th round by 1-5 (Mount and Abraham scoring one goal each) - we played with Gribbin, Rashford, Fosu-Mensah and Gomes was a sub
14/15 - out to Spurs by 3-1 in the 5th round
13/14 - out to Huddersfield in the 5th round
12/13 - out to Burnley by 3-4 at home

So needless to say our recent record in this tournament isn't great - and we really need a good performance by Mengi in the tournament as I don't really rate many of our other defenders.

Mastny
Bejger Mengi Fish Svidersky
McCann Helm
Wellens Mejbri Sotona
Hoogewerf

Subs: Mee; Hockenhull, Neville, Hughes; Forson, Iqbal, Shoretire
As @lysglimt said, and the number on conceded goals show, the defense is the big worry. Without Mengi it would look poor to be honest.

A good start from United, some half chances and already a few shots inside the box blocked. We’ll score soon...

well I can't say I agree with you - think we have been pretty poor. Sotona and Hoogewerf both tend to run really fast, and forget about everything else than running really fast!

Think the opening 15 minutes or so was good, but lately we’ve been poor, agree with that.

Looking slightly better in the second half. We should be able to put a lot more pressure on this Lincoln-side.

We really should, a poor side and not even that well organised. Mejbri after a lively start has been quiet, think we (or he) need to get him more of the ball. Perhaps a sub on for Wellens, all our attacks are coming from the left side. McCann has been good but we need to break them quicker and get the ball in between the lines more.

Not impressed by Hoogewerf and Sotona .. once they get the ball, they just run straight ahead ignoring any team-member in a better position

Superb play from Bejger, nicely side-footed home from Hoogewerf

Worth noticing that several P.L clubs are out of the tournament already.

Liverpool lost away to Spurs
Watford were beaten by Fleetwood (!)
Leicester beaten by Brighton
Newcastle beaten by Norwich
Everton beaten by Derby

We will play away to Norwich in the next round

Everton and Liverpool going out this early must be a similar type of ”shock” for them as it has been for us in recent years.

Bejger has been good at right back, Mejbri has been causing them big problems when he’s on the ball, McCann has been absolutely controlling things from Deep midfield. This second half has been great! And the sound is now working too!

Agreed on all points. McCann has very similar traits to Levitt.

FT United 2-0 Lincoln

Goals: Hoogewerf (2)

Mejbri & McCann the obvious standouts for me. A decent second half but we need to be much better if we want to progress to the latter stages of the cup.

4th round: vs Norwich (A) around Jan 18

Only caught the last half hour. I'm assuming the prior 60 mins were just as easyish-peasyish?

Think we started brightly but the second half of the 1st was pretty poor, Lincoln made it hard by being really physical. 2nd half was much better and after the 2-0 goal we just cruised.

First half wasn’t great, but we were slightly better with a few more opportunities. The first half goal was a complete fluke, but probably deserved on the whole. The first 20 mins of the second half was great. We really dominated them and they had no response. Second goal was definitely coming and well deserved.
