I’d be extremely surprised if Brahim and Vinicius end up good enough for Real Madrid. Jury is still out on Jovic, I don’t think he’ll ever be given the no.9 position as his own, even when Big Bad Benz calls it a day.

There is also Hakimi and Reguilon out on loan, who both look impressive too.
Would also be interesting to see how Barca manage the post-messi transition. How do you replace a guy who scores 50-55 goals on average and provides like 20-30 assists per season? They might probably spend very big in 3 or 4 years.

We'll see. Vinicius had a great last season up until his injuries and was Madrid's best player in many matches. Brahim Diaz is a bet, obviously, but he's so talented on the ball. Extremely good close control, low center of gravity and in general a different type to Vinicius and Rodrygo.I think it's a very good mixture.

The only issue I have is that they've got three players who are best at left wing with Hazard, Vinicius and Rodrygo and the Belgian will stay for at least another 3-5 years. Even then it might be hard to squeeze Rodrygo and Vinicius into the same starting 11. Could look something like this:

Rodrygo - Jovic - Vinicius
Ödegaard - Diaz
Valverde?
Reguilon - Militao - ? - Hakimi
?

Looks good to me. Even if some won't turn out great, that's a brillant basis for building a new team. In today's market, Ödegaard, Rodrygo, Vonicius, Diaz and Jovic could easily turn into 100m players and they bought them before that happened. In hindsight, every single price they paid may turn out as a bargain.

Make no mistake, we'd pack them all into a single ribbon-wrapped gift basket for Mbappé, if we have to

Any Madrid fan here. Do you honestly see Perez splashing 100m plus for Pogba. I mean you have Odegaard Ceballos Isco Kroos Valverde Modric and Rodriguez that plays the CM position. Van De Beek and Fabian Ruiz are also interested in coming to you guys so why would Perez want to break the bank for Pogba

Modric may leave the team in June and James is on the team but is not Zidane's first choice.
The same happens to Ceballos.
Maybe the club sees Pogba as an obstacle for Valverde and that could make him show less interest but Zidane keeps insisting.
Something like a line of 3 with Casemiro, Valverde, Kroos and Pogba ahead. Odegaard has a loan for 2 years so at the moment is not part of the equation. 100 million seem a lot. Personally I don't think they'll reach that amount.
Maybe they offer less money and players.

I don't see Florentino doing it

I think he should, but i don't see it happening unless Zidane delivers a big trophy and then threatens to quit if Flo doesn't do everything he can to sign him

Btw, Modric is on his last legs, Ceballos and James don't count and we currently have Casemiro, Valverde, Kroos and Modric as true central midfielders. We're thin. Pogba could easily slot in either Kroos or Valverde's roles without much trouble, and give us a 3 man starting-quality rotation for 2 positions.

As to Odegaard, i'm not sure whether he could fit in midfield next to Kroos. Modric made it work because he was very mobile and an actually very good positional defender in midfield. I see him more as part of the front 3. Besides, he's on loan for two years, not sure we'll be able to bring him back before then

Just saw this gem:
First time in my life that I'm jealous of Norway. They have these shiny, young football things now that other people want. Real, Kvarme and himself have made continuously made good career decisions that have helped him grow.
You’re Icelandic, yes? And this is the first time you’ve been jealous of Norway?:p

Ødegaard already better than most RM players.

Personally if I was Real Madrid I'd let Kroos and Modric go in the summer. Both been brilliant players for Madrid but Modric will be 35 at start of next season and Kroos not as good as he was, also 30 next month.

That would create space for Odegaard to come back and be in competition with Casemiro, Valverde and maybe a new signing like Pogba.

I am not saying he is the best player in La Liga - but he can't be far away

I am assuming you haven't watched real much this season. Kroos is having a special season. Modric probably will be moved on though.

Kroos has been great under Zidane so I guess they'll get another two or possiby even three years out of him. With him, Ödegaard, Isco, Casemiro and Valverde they have a very strong midfield.

Anyway, if Ödegaard plays like this for Madrid, the question is who will play beside him.

Things are turning out perfectly for them. I'd say in this very moment, Real Madrid has the best perspecticve of any club out there again.

Yeah I haven't. I've always been a big fan of him but last couple years he's seemed off for Madrid and also Germany. Fair enough if he's back on form.

He has really worker on his weaknesses these last few years. Both talent and hard work behind his development. Already a special player.

Lad is sooooooo good. His work ethic will ensure him keeping it up and improving as well.

Unreal that Norway will enjoy this player for the next decade plus. Here’s hoping the likes of him and Haaland get their first international tournament next summer.

I'm loving it. Been waiting for this breakthrough ever since his first season at Strømsgodset, because I knew he'd become this good. A kid with his footballing brain and technique is as close to a sure thing as you're ever going to get in football. I can't believe anyone ever doubted him.

It was clear he had something unique. I remember watching the videos of him at 15 and he was dominating the main Norwegian league back then. Even then he was picking the right pass, had the right weight, made the right decisions. He was ahead of the curve even then. The only thing that could have let him down was his attitude, but even then it was well-known that he was incredibly down-to-earth.

Seconded. It was incredibly frustrating to be a Norwegian who’s read so much of the close coverage in Norway, knowing how ambitious, focused, disciplined and grounded he was, and then seeing all these posts about him chasing the money, or thinking he was too good for Castilla, etc.

I never had any doubts either. Incredible to read accounts of how the youth coaches at Strømsgodset didn’t give him instructions because he spotted options that the coaches couldn’t see from the sidelines.

Holland was really good for him. Playing among adults in the Eredivisie at the age of 16, he really found out what was missing from his game, but he just kept at it. He’s not looked back since he kicked off half way through his Vitesse stay.

Serious serious player. At this point I’m getting quite sure it’s him in second place behind Mbappe for the new wave. Sancho slightly behind, and Frenkie, Felix et al. a little further back.

Real know what they’ve got, and Ødegaard wants to make it at Real Madrid. He’s on a really good trajectory, why would he switch up his plans to join our post-Fergie malaise when he looks poised to becoming an important player for Real in two years.

Suppose we'll know for sure if he gets a new contract in the summer

Anyone know what kind of release clause (they're obligatory in Spain) Madrid has on him?
