Chelsea
Of course a Chelsea fan will justify that since their club is cut from the same cloth.
What a weird post.

I suppose United or whoever you support have never had a penny of debt/outside investment?

I guess it depends on your opinion of the difference between "debt" and "outside investment" and massive unprecedented amounts of money being ploughed into a previously mediocre club in order to ensure they dominate the league.

Debt or investment aside both Manchester clubs have no excuses. They’ve spent more NET than any teams in Europe for the past 3 seasons. Guardiola crying in the media today that he can’t compete is a disgrace.

I think Jack Walker's Blackburn take that mantle for the premiership.
Actually the Blackburn side that won the Premiership in the 1994-95 season cost less then Manchester United's squad in total.

Yes Jack Walker did play a huge role in their success, but it wasn't all down to his money. Being managed by Kenny Dalglish would have been a big factor too.

Quote from the article:

Rovers spent far less than the incumbent champions, Manchester United. Peter Schmeichel, Denis Irwin, Steve Bruce, Gary Pallister, Andrei Kanchelskis, Paul Ince, Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, Brian McClair, Mark Hughes and Andy Cole cost £19.33m.

Whereas Flowers, Henning Berg, Hendry, Ian Pearce, Le Saux, Stuart Ripley, Mark Atkins, Sherwood, Jason Wilcox, Shearer and Sutton set Rovers back a comparatively low £14.7m. Given that these squads – in particular United's – took years to assemble, perhaps a fairer assessment would be to look at the 1994-95 spend in isolation. Even on this basis, United's outlay exceeded their rivals'.

Yes, had nothing to do with Jack Walker pumping millions into a run-of-the-mill club.

In 1988, Jack Walker donated building materials for the new Riverside Stand at Ewood Park. It is also thought that his money was used to pay for the acquisition and wages of Ossie Ardiles and Steve Archibald in the 1987-88 season.[4]
Walker took full control of the club in January 1991 with the intention of turning Rovers into the greatest and most prosperous club England had ever seen. He also threatened to make Manchester United look "cheap" [8] and within the first three years he spent £25 million on new players. This included breaking the British transfer record twice, signing Alan Shearer from Southampton for £3.3 million in 1992 and Chris Sutton from Norwich City for £5 million in 1994.
The Ewood Park ground was reconstructed at a cost of more than £20 million to give it a capacity of just over 30,000, with the new Jack Walker Stand providing a lasting tribute. New training facilities and a youth academy were also constructed at Brockhall Village.
When Jack Walker bought Rovers, the 1990-91 season was half completed and they were just above the relegation zone. Manager Don Mackay initially used Walker's funds to make signings which helped ensure Rovers survival that season, and built the platform for a promotion challenge in 1991-92. Walker declared his ambition early on that Rovers would return to the top flight, establish themselves as a top side in England and eventually go on to compete with the very best clubs in Europe.[9] Kenny Dalglish became manager in October 1991, and by May, Rovers had been promoted to the newly formed Premier League through the play offs.[10]

Anyway, this is the blue moon thread, so we're veering way off topic.

I agree. We should be competing too but it’s now refreshing to see City fans moaning about players we signed like James and Wan Bissaka.

They are spoilt though they just want a shiny new toy now that their current ones aren’t working. Hopefully Guardiola will go soon or I’d have zero respect for him.

Imagine spending more time at a smaller club than the one you support. Surely he should have stayed at Barcelona longer?! I don’t get the logic in leaving the world class club u support to manage another team other than he’s kissing Abu Dhabi’s backside. The way he acts he’s just padding his own ego at times. Maybe he feels Barcelona is too big of a club to attempt the same since Messi is god in Barcelona not Pep.

That is interesting to see, but of course it's again the difference between a team's earnt money and a moneyman.

I'll always think of that 5m Sutton transfer as being the one that really accelerated the transfer market in England, as after that you soon had Cole 7m and Collymore 8.5m

I don't get how they call us rags? Are they not the Emptihad council house club, that were in the wilderness for like 100 years up until the Sheiks came along? Buffoon's.
It’s to do with when Old Trafford was bombed during the Second World War and we had to ground share. Apparently we also didn’t have the money for kits at that time so we were wearing ‘rags’ instead.

Stay classy City.

Indeed

And once he stopped pumping money in they soon went back to where they were the day before he took over.

If city had to stand on their own two feet they would be a mid to lower PL team.

2-2

He is shit that had nothing to do with injuries just a lack of brain
Imagine THAT being your first choice £50 million left back. feck off
Why was Mendy trying to let it go out of play. It came off a City head so would've been a corner.
How thick is this team seriously
Mendy's greatest contributions to City have been on Twitter
Mendy the instagram hero.

The twitter king.

feck off.

What he was thinking.
Mendy and Raz cost us three points. Both goals never should have happened.
Absolute shite feck off the lot of them

So fecked off with tippy tappy shit
3-2

The Kdb sub was the moment we sacrificed 3 points. No threat whatsoever and playing like this for so long was just asking for them to score.
Take off your best player Pep ..You're so clever.
Taking Mahrez off was an awful decision as he's brilliant at holding the ball. Taking Kev off for Gundogan is the worst substitution I've ever seen our club make.
Are you fecking kidding Bravo it wasn't even close to the corner you useless fecking bell end. A few shit idiots in this squad have fecked us tonight.
And there we go. Game over. They'll score another couple now. Why he decided to shut up shop with defenders as wank as this I will never know.
and now the site has crashed

The sheen from his bald head is definitely fading. A few of the City fans coming to terms with the circle of life and the potential ending of an era.

Worst substitution? He clearly doesn't remember the likes of Vassell for Samaras subs that they used to make. All world class players, I swear.

LVG's notebook
Footballers are thick as feck step forward Mendy
Life is suffering
I have no words I just don't understand how loosening a man stops us playing our passing game.
Jim Beglin is a twat
Pep out
Raheem out
Mendy out
Rodrigo out
Gündog out

Need BFS ffs. fecking hoof it for once ye numpties!
Watched it again, Jota dipped his shoulder into Ederson, Ederson tried to avoid contact. Barely even a foul, never mind a red. How anyone can say he was trying to deny a goal scoring opportunity there I don't know. He looked more concerned with giving away the foul because the player was looking for it.
We now have lost as many games as the rags wtf
I’m curious to know whether there’s still people that don’t think we need a rebuild. I see an alarming number of posts suggesting less than 5 signings are needed. It’s roughly 7.
Complete clear out in the summer needed, hopefully a new manager as well
Kind of unacceptable after spending the GDP of a small country to be in the position where we need to spend even more on at least three new defenders.
We are so fecking spineless, no game management at all tonight. Some of the play was like watching Sunday league, clearances that went backwards, shit first touches and simple 5 yard passes going astray.
I wonder whether pep did that on purpose....I mean wtf, no attacking players on at 2-0 up. Relying on that defence.

Major changes needed ideally beginning with a CB in Jan.....
An absolute disaster of a season haha. We’ve have been majorly spoiled last two seasons but my word this has been shite. Even with 10 men we should of beat that absolute shower of shite. Just focus on the cups now, we can still end up with 4 trophies, can’t argue with that. Well just pretend them scouse c*nts didn’t win the league
Pep looks like he’s off in my opinion.
So basically owen is calling Mahrez a blatant cheat on live tv

This anti city agenda is reaching new heights

Salah does not and did not get this much last season
Can i just point out that from last seasons title winning team we finished that game without Dave Eric Leroy Stones Aguero Kevin and of course Edison.
Stop with the doom and gloom .
Bloody hell a real hatch job on marhez on Amazon
I need a new TV as my current one has just landed in next doors back garden
The rodents are crawling out I see...

lots of blame tonight.

you can’t excuse Ederson. You rush out and touch a player, it’s on you.

sterling was horrendous barring one moment.

otamendi, mendy and Gundogan should be ashamed. Horrible substitute by Pep, when the game needed legs.

I fear that is the performance that broke our squad tonight.

people have grossly underestimated the loss of Sane and Laporte.

leaving the captaincy to Fernandinho and David hasn’t worked either. This is Kev’s team and we need to build it on him now.
Anyone still think it was a really good idea taking off KDB from a Team that needs to defend on the front foot by attacking the opposition because they are incapable of defending with 11 players on the Pitch, never mind 10. ?

Difficult one for the Wolves MOM,Peps tactics,Mendy Assist,Sterling assist,or Clowninho in goal.

We need new defensive coaches badly.

All good teams start with a decent defense.
Mendy , the full backs Mangala
Amazon and your bunch of wank pundits can get to feck!
Always said if I was a manager, that before I signed any player I would check the mental capacity whilst under physical stress. It's plain to see that, for all the supposed physical attributes, players such as Sterling, Mendy and Otamendi are fecking brain dead retards.

Any successful organisation cannot expect to remain so by letting absolute buffoons be involved at any level that can impact performance. I'm even beginning to question Pep for his blindness to this chaos that he is orchestrating. That defeat was completely avoidable and our complete inability to prevent it, tells us everything we need to know about our limitations of which there are plenty.
Made even worse by the fact the silly twat was in the process of shielding it out for a blatant corner! He was having another decent game to be fair to him but obviously another schoolboy error to add to the one Ottauseless made for the first.
No chance of CL
Absolutely no chance
UEFA will see to that. I don't bother attending the CL its corrupt to the core.
Oh how we could do with Johnny fecking Evans now.
Yeah, I was queuing at Maine Road at 6 in the morning to get one of the 800 tickets for Northampton away in Div 2 so no rag here
Having a 'Top Blue' competition.
feck me are you playing alternative citeh bingo?
What next you helped build the massive floodlights?

Couldn't give a feck, you only post when we lose and seem to revel in it.
We'll dick someone soon enough, put 6 passed them and the fear factor will be back. Some misfortunate set of feckers will play against us soon, like we are a soft touch and we'll absolutely batter them.
John Champion’s commentary tonight was a disgrace. All the idiot talked about was Liverpool. As if we all don’t already know the league is theirs, and deservedly so. But I so wanted to punch the telly tonight listening to that total dickhead. The missus said why didn’t I just turn the volume off? Never thought of that!
One thing for sure Michael Owen is a grade one pube

It's embarrassing how entitled they've become. They are literally where they are because of a rich sheikh from the UAE. Pep Guardiola probably didn't even know there was another team in Manchester before 2008/09.

They've got one of the best managers the world has ever seen and still not happy. We'll fecking have him then. He can join an actual big club not a fake plastic one.
