Because we don’t get invested in transfer speculation nonsense. And we are happy with Martial as our striker with Greenwood getting minutes as the backup. And we would rather sign a RW and midfielders.
Madness. Martial, Rashford, and Greenwood are the only players that can play up front for us. Two of them play every game. One injury and we’re depleted up front and have no one on the bench to step in. For 20 million he was a complete bargain to give us more bodies up front.

HELLO

Dortmund paid 30M for Håland's sporting rights (20M release clause + 10M to his father) and a 15M commission fee to Raiola. Haland will earn 6M net salary for the first 2 years, with a wage rise to 8M yearly and a release clause starting with the third year of contract.
It's the obvious move for the player. But that last bit just shows that they've got the future planned out.

Go to the best club in terms of development. Can move on after 2 years. Dortmund and Raiola make a quick buck.

Exactly. I get why people are bitter, but the move to Dortmund made much more sense.

We'll hopefully be in the conversation again when he leaves them.
Have to speak to him before they insert that buyout clause, although you hope they do and it is massive. One in the eye for Bayern.

Under a tree.
I think he will do well but part of me wants him to shit the bed and drift off into obscurity due to Raiola being involved. 15m commission for a 20m transfer :houllier::rolleyes:

I don't think he's what United need at all. You need to sort your defence and midfield out, and you need a right sided forward rather than a centre forward like Haaland.

Good luck to him, probably not the type of striker that would have suited us. Is it strange that I am a little more gutted about not going for the lad Liverpool signed based on what I have seen?

I can’t comment on the source, but would assume that it is gross and not net wages. Dortmund doesn‘t make a Norwegian teenager from the Austrian league their top earner.

Looks like United briefed few journalists. Unites pulled out of the deal because of the demands by agent and also them wanting buy out clause

Maybe they are scouring the Championship, or have decided a more experience striker would be better to go with the youngsters. Our strikeforce is very young. Mandzukic is gone now, so not sure who that could be. What about Giroud?

Good move for him. He was by no means guaranteed a starting spot here and probably realizes that the stress to perform would have been intense at united.

The gradual step up and regular game time will certainly help him.

I didn't want him and i think that we didn't even were in the race. If we were, for that price we would have signed him.
He is a striker. We have Martial and Greenwood. So why would we want another young striker? Forget Greenwood on rw. He is a striker and he needs to play there.
We need right winger, not striker( maybe some short term backup target man). But in a long run we need to go all in for Sancho. No brainer there

What funds ffs, they paid the close, 18 m pounds. its nothing.
That’s a third of our average net spend for the last 2 seasons, it’s not “nothing”. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s Haaland or a centre mid in January, and if that’s the case I’d rather a midfielder.

Roy Keane ended his dad's career, that's why he didn't come. Karma.

Ended his career by sneaking into City's training ground and shitting in Alfie's boots, but not before passing by his home and shitting into his wife's handbag.

In fairness it’s a very sensible move for him. Guaranteed minutes at a very good level. Guaranteed Champions League football. Make the grade and move up on to an elite club.

No doubt he’d have gone game time here, but nowhere near the level he experiences at Salzburg and now Dortmund.

This does not look good for our and Ole attractiveness for players. If we can't convince someone to join us who was given his first chance by our current manager and moulded by him, who can we convince.
Being fair its not just Ole, its the overall state of the club, but yeah having a norwegian league level manager isnt helping.

Yes. The pressure here is immense, also he will develop there. Dortmund to me is a good start, then move on, then go back when you are a bit past it.

Nah, I think Haaland just picked Dortmund.

We still need to sign an experienced striker as back up to martial. I’m not waiting for another injury to derail our season. We’ve already lost so many points due to this.

i hate the fact that if he is actually any good he will cost a fortune in the future. I hope raoila found a way to include some exit clause in his contract just in case.

Re right sided forward - I don't see it as an urgent matter. Both Greenwood and James can do a job there.
Midfield is a bigger concern. We already have limited options there and with Matic and Pogba's futures in doubt, situation is almost an emergency.

Promising that we seem to be focusing on the areas that we lack the most but the ability of our club to execute remains a big problem. Think Haaland will be good for Dortmund but not convinced he was a priority for us over the midfield and number 10.
He was bought for 20M he would had hardly interfered with our budged to get other reinforcements, the reality is we tried but we are not what we once were.

We are not talking about competing against top tier clubs like Barca or Madrid for players, we are now competing with one level below clubs...and losing.

Bellend talking on hindsight and giving his opinion like he knew the deal all along.
Yeah absolute hindsight machines. It's like if you know the story then break it. I don't trust a single hack except Di Marzo and Falk. Yes, they get it wrong but they get information and they just release it without fecking making up a load of nonsense.

Great news as far as I’m concerned. Pursuing a 19 year old striker to compete with our 18 year old striker makes no sense. We also have a 24 year old striker. All vying for one spot.

Just get a right sided forward and the frontline is complete. If later we are not satisfied with Martial, then he is to replaced, not added too.

So Salzburg have sold two of their young talented forwards for 28m and we didn't get either.
To the Hwang thread for more disappointment....

Career wise, its a good move for him.

Probably a teaser for what lies ahead in the summer, I doubt many top talent would be lining up to join Ole's Utd.

Oh we were definitely in for him, and he turned us down. But it could be a blessing in disguise if we’re about to address the midfield.

Close the club.

Jokes aside its a shame but we need new mids anyway more than a Cf.
True, a midfielder is the highest priority now. We can make do with Martial and Greenwood as striking options for now but what scares me is the crazy number of games coming up. FA cup + Europa+ League cup+ PL.

So many people here saying 'ahhh but we need him to be the backup striker'

Umm, I don't think Erling Haaland wants to be a 'backup striker'. It's a bit rude of us to say that no?

Wait. You don’t think the Juve links were fabricated to force BvB to put up the Raiola commission do you? Would like to have seen him here but if the reports of clauses and sell on fees are correct, we actually made the correct decision, money wise at least.
