Still not the highest priority for the Jan transfer window regardless of who is being linked.

The news only said we have put him in our watch list which mean we are going to watch him to see how he progress first and means very unlikely we will sign him in January.

If he can score 15 league goals this season, I would say we should put him into a consideration. However, to me Martial is still ahead, this guy will only be 2nd choice if he joins us and I can’t see the move is happening because Everton will value him 50m or plus if he somehow scores 15 league goals. Crazy money just to be 2nd choice striker, I would rather put Greenwood as our 2nd choice.

He is not coming for less than 50m and it would be a colossal wastage of money.

This transfer rumour was started by The Sun. Doubt there's anything in this.

If we get him for under 30 million it would be a good punt. He is a grafter and can hold up and lay off for our other forwards. Can’t see him being anything more than a backup player though. I think being English, Everton will ask upward of what he is worth, so I won’t even consider him...

He's actually sowing some signs of development this season. He's still only 22. He has 8 goals with a goal every 142 minutes which puts him close to the like of Auba and Rashford. In an ideal world he'd be a great backup striker because he's a plan B option also: a physical striker that's great in the air and is best used as a target man. As he's at Everton the cost in signing him would make it not worth bothering, although his new contract is £70k a week apparently so he must be on pretty low wages at the moment which could make it more attractive. I don't think we're in for him regardless.

There was a guy in the Martial performance thread not long ago saying he’d rather have Calvert-Lewin so people somewhere must think he’s decent. Not for me, if it was 20-30 mil to be a back up/different option then maybe but you’d probably still get better for that type of cash.

Not convinced we really need striker cover when we have 3 that can do the role. Would rather get another Winger/forward in Or just anything for the midfield really.

He's a good player on his day but he's far from prolific and is more of a 'Firmino type' number 9 who holds the ball up well and brings the wide forwards into the game.

Shocked to see us linked though as plenty of Everton fans aren't convinced by him and they've tried - and failed - to replace him.

Will be a good striker longterm for Everton. Not good enough for a top 4 aspiring side as a starter anytime soon

If this is someone Ole wants, then no. I don't trust his judgement any more. He is living in some twilight zone.

I'm not saying we should get Calvert-Lewin, but do you not rate the three signings Ole made this season?
Maguire had been touted as a signing by Jose, so that was easy, James was suggested by Giggs so that just leaves AWB. James looks knackered. Our defence is a mess, but think that is more to do with the midfield. Until we get that sorted it is hard to say if they are going to be good all the time. Midfield is the priority. I would rather have a Raul Jimenez who is a consistent goalscorer than Calvert-Lewin who has only decided to contribute goals recently. That could be due to Silva leaving and Ferguson and then Carlo coming in. So does that mean we would need to use him the same way or will he fit what Ole wants. Problem I have is if we give Everton money you can bet Carlo will get someone even better.

Daft comment, he's only 22 and half his appearances for Everton have been from the bench anyway. Not that I'd prefer him to Jiminez though.

Regardless of who did what, fact is, Ole signed them and in my opinion, on the whole, they've been good signings. Problem is, they've come into an unsettled team, who have struggled big time with injuries.

Regarding Calvert-Lewin, I think it all depends on the how big a role he wants our potential striker signing to play.

I personally think Ole is happy with Martial as the starting striker for next season. With more creativity, I feel he can take, not only his performances, but goals to another level.

Therefore, I feel Ole will be in the market for a back up striker. Now, Calvert-Lewin may not be that player, but I can't imagine we'll be getting a big name striker when there's other positions of priority.

I don't see Calvert Lewin scoring enough goals in the future, he would certainly be a good rotation option and give us more willing running and some physicality but I don't think he would improve our attack greatly.

A big lump of a lad who's never going to be good enough for a top club. He's a handful I'd give him that but he doesn't have any natural scoring instincts at all

Another striker that has a similar stature that is not as good as Lukaku.

He's not good enough and I don't see any potential for him to become a key player to win titles. Can be a useful squad player, nothing more.

He's a bit like an Andy Carroll that can actually play football. It's hard to define him in terms of player style to others because he is an out and out target man. He doesn't look beefy and is quite lanky but he's very strong and more often than not is on the winning side of aerial duels which is why Big Dunc wanted to play him with another striker and why I believe Ancelotti has been trying a similar thing. He definitely needs to improve his goalscoring but that's nothing new and has always been the weakness in his game. If he manages to make that a consistent part of his game he'll be a very good player. Definitely not top level yet at all and wouldn't be a good move for him or you at this moment, he needs to be playing regularly before doing that. He's never really had a time in his career yet when he's been the main striker apart from this season and even then he's been dropped a few times.

Cheers, but it'd be nice to quote the real source in the first place, that these newspapers quote: The Sun. Then we'd all spare a few clicks.

Good player though. He's clearly beefing up with muscle and taking more fights this season. Think he has potential, but Everton will probably be his level.

the problem he might face though under Ancelotti, and we got a glimpse of it in last game v Liverpool. They tried continuly to play out from the back. Both central defenders Holgate and Mina looked so uncomfortable in doing that. You've a keeper in Pickford who is great at playing long passes, you've a target man in Lewin up top, and the few times they did go long they had success.

This boy is an absolute specimen, lighting fast and such a threat! Would love him to be our number nine with two prolific scorers either side of him (Rashford and Sancho?)

Was excellent today. Worked his absolute bollocks off and was always a threat.

Will be an expensive flop for someone.

Yeah you'd need 2 20-25 a goal wide men if you want to do anything with him as your number 9
