That good chemistry in the group that Ole was preaching about really showed tonight. Rainbows and butterflies all around. Loving it.

Don't think this is necessary, but why not.

Arsenal started on the front foot and we were so passive (yet again) slow lethargic and back to square 1. Why oh why cant we roll up the sleeves and show some passion and pace from the kick off.
Shaw was poor and ive defended him of late. Dan James wasn’t in it. Lingards confidence is so shot he needs a complete break from the first team squad, hes basically playing because the squad is paper thin. Rashford didn’t look himself.
There was a reaction and an improvement in the 2nd half but to little to late. Probably because Arsenal tired.

WE DESPERATELY NEED SOME MIDFIELD PLAYERS IN THIS WINDOW. SORT IT.

Hate this team and Ole should go and find some work where he isn't totally out of his depth.

Pity they didnt bollock us 6-0 might wake the glazers/woody up. Biggest club in the world with a shit football team and an out of his depth manager.

Would you want to join United and be coached by this lot?
Players will join if UTD make the effort to recuit them. Maguire and AWB did. If we put a bid in for Bruno Fernandes he'd come. Fans need to stop making excuses for Woodward and the Glazers, they simply don't want to spend. They don't want to bring a DOF who can better recruit. That's it. There are 0 excuses for reinforcing in injury considering how bad the midfeild is

For those criticising OGS for playing Matic - who else would you have put in midfield? I thought he tried (despite the ravages of time) and used experience to calm things a few times, as well as trying a few forward passes.

Bottom line - the club has allowed the midfield (which was not that strong. last year) to become even weaker ; the midfield is the engine of a good team and ours is firing on 1 cylinder (even though that cylinder is doing a good job).

7/10.

Rashers did well. Lingz was trying some linkup play. Shawers was trying, showed character, didn’t always pay off.

Maticers was solid, was unlucky in a few challenges.

Raiola was right, Man Utd are shite.
He is absolutely spot on. We are shockingly average nowadays and as long as this current coaching system is present that will continue. Mediocrity breeds mediocrity. We are fecking disgraceful for a club of our stature, top to bottom.

Zero accountability. Ole will play Lingard next game because he's almost all we have and Ole thinks he's good. Simple as that. This man has managed Cardiff and Molde boys, Lingard is an acceptable player for him because it's all he knows.

Feck this team and feck anyone that thinks there's a "plan" beyond winning a few games and getting those season tickets renewed with spin and nonsensical buzzwords.

Shocking United side. Absolutely shocking.

And no.beating Newcastle and Burnley should be the constant not a rare occasion that makes us celebrate.

What's the lowest ever rating for a player in a single game? @Damien reckon Lingard will get close here
It's worrying that this is not the first time I've posted this in recent years, but we should have the option to rate players 0/10. Neither Lingard nor Shaw deserved a 1 today.

Small detail, but did anyone see Torreira eat from the packet of sports gel around 80 minutes?

They're L-Arginine and caffeine combined packets of gel that get into your system really quickly. I've used them quite a bit in training and I've had brilliant training sessions even on days when I've felt under-nourished prior. It's just an example of having great sports science and getting the most out of players.

Switched off at HT.

Don’t know where to begin with that 1st half? Can’t comment on the 2nd half performance as didn’t watch a single second of it.

At the club with the highest revenue in world football and a billion pounds spent on transfers in the last few years, an injury to Scott McTominay forces us to play a midfield trio of Matic, Fred and Lingard. There can't be many sides in the league that put out a more out of form and limited midfield than that today.

There's poor squad management and recruitment and then there's negligence.

Why on earth doesnt ole change te team in the second half? 2-0, same players, after 10min he did, whats up with that?? Then, harry has to go for greenwood and pereira for jlingz... change the plan!!! More passion, we played so well previous games but this one is not acceptable!

There were quotes from Bruno Fernandes the other day saying he had only wanted to join Spurs, that the projects at other clubs did not interest him, which does not say much about us.

Arteta's been there for 5 minutes and you can see what he's all about. Meanwhile, we're serving up the same tumescent bollocks.
When Ole had been here for five minutes we went on an endless winning streak. Doesn’t mean much.

Despite their struggles, Arsenal at home will always be tough. However the left side of the defense and the slow build-up in the attacking third needs to be addressed.

Toothless. I don’t get all the love for Martial. Typical inconsistent performance every other game. Our players deserve corporal punishment for that. Ole is too nice to drop his favorite players but we should never have to see Lingard or Shaw play for United again.
The players deserve a manager with the personality required to succeed at this level.

We just looked so tired. I'm really worried for the rest of the season. Who have we got to put in so some of these guys can have a rest? No one. It is only going to get worse.

I’m really not a fan and never have been, maybe it works with certain teams and certain players. I prefer each player being accountable for another.
Yeah but that's bad because as soon as some players changes positions, there's a confusion. I mean, for me, a team that switches formation cannot be defended against in man marking. Zonal is better in my mind.

Lingard isn’t even good enough for the Championship.
Absolute rubbish.
The whole world can see it, every game he plays.
Soon as you see his name on the team sheet starting 11, you know we are going to be s@@t going forward and likely to lose.

You just know he’ll be a starter again next league match.
Total shite !

Yep another two years according to mastermind and technical coach that is Ollie. Arteta rocks up & gets them to play after a few games. Yes out of puff in the 2nd half but a pattern of play.
I reckon this might be the 15th time I've read this shite tonight. Conveniently ignoring the 18 game run or whatever it was Ole started out on.

Arteta has achieved nothing yet. Arsenal were hardly exhilarating tonight, scoring two scrappy goals against a top ten worst United performance of all time.

By far the most disappointed I've felt watching a United game this season. Not one single positive that I can think of to take from this match, apart from the fact that none of our direct rivals won today.

It's a real problem figuring out why we just don't turn up in certain matches. Is it Oles fault? Is it a poor mentality amongst the squad? Are they tiring already because the squad is thin? Its probably a combination of all of these things, but it's a real concern with so much football left to play. We could really do with a couple of players this month.

Arsenal are such an ordinary team. I actually laughed out loud at some of the commentary tonight. We handed them these points on a silver platter and even by raising our performance from god awful to really quite bad we managed to look the better side after half time. Well and truly 3 points thrown away.

I'm choosing to avoid this place for a few days now because it's entirely predictable how this forum is going to be. We are going to have nights like this and the rest of the season is going to be difficult. No Pogba, McTominay out for 2 months. A few players looking like they'll need to play 60 games this season. It's not sustainable. We need at least 3 signings.

Last point from me - on a night when the whole team were piss poor, Lingard managed to stand out in a sea of utter mediocrity. An actual 1 out of 10 performance. Mata showed in 5 mins what can happen when you have players on the pitch that can pick a pass. People are going to go in on Ole again, but we must accept that there are major problems in this squad and under the circumstances being in 5th place and still in all the cups is actually a pretty decent position.

Same shit different day. It's frustrating when we keep doing the same thing over and over, even when it's been proved not to work. Our game is overwhelmingly unidimensional: try and work out a pass to the wing in the slowest and most ponderous fashion. We play with no urgency, pass the ball without a hint of purpose, no movement off the ball, no support for players on the ball, get easily bullied, almost never win the second balls etc. You can just about prepare a description of how we play a month in advance.

Is this a tactic or just players trusting their nonexistent instincts?

Pretty terrible. The weaknesses are the same blatantly obvious ones we've had for a while. Of the 5 midfielders that played today i'd want to move 4 on as soon as possible. I guess if nothing else its a timely reminder that we need signings.
Arsenal were pretty good tbh. They did well to cut out counters with the high press and just slowing us down enough to get defenders back. We didn't help ourselves but it was well executed mostly. They just had way more energy, getting Ozil to track back and make tackles by his corner flag is kind of impressive. Targeting Shaw is another simple, smart move as he's an obvious weak link. They earned their win

RVP and Rio on BT doing some great analysis of how nobody in our team could provide for Martial and Rashford making some great runs.

Now they are telling an anecdote of how Ferguson called the defenders and midfielders into a meeting and threatened with dropping any and all of them who couldn’t find RVP’s runs with balls over the top.

Well I do suspect Arsenal will largely pick up form under Arteta but yeah, not good enough. Got completely annihilated by their movement and pace in the first half and while it was slightly better in the second, it was then a case of trying to break them down, which we already know we're useless at.

Back to the drawing board for the cup games.

It is a problem. They have let the squad get paper thin, Ole is guilty of this as well. Certain players are playing constantly. It cannot be great for them. Some are looking especially jaded.

Please don't bring up that snake. He's taking an opportunity to take a piss at the club. The sooner him and Pogba are gone the better. We needed Pogba today and all indications were he was going to play. But out of nowhere he's ankle is hurt after his agent attacked the club publicly a few days. Who knows if he's really hurt, or he is trying to force his way out.
The Glazers and Woodward are problem, the recruitment structure is a problem and greedy agents like Raiola and selfish players like Pogba are also a problem.
