Is he an all out striker or a winger? Havn't seen anything of him live so can't really say anything and youtube vids make even Bebe look top quality so hard to come to any sort of judgement watching those.

We are slowly transitioning into a team like how Liverpool play and by that I mean, like Liverpool, who don't have need an out and out striker in their system, we are looking for someone who could be part of an interchanging front 3. Edouard will be the striker to start off with but will provide width when required and Martial or Rashford could take up the center spot. Also, I think Edouard can hold the ball up fairly well which is what we've lacked in our striking department.

He clearly knows where the goal is and will be a good addition and I'm assuming will be a lot cheaper than other choices. However, I do have to admit that Werner could be my first choice if we were to sign a striker.

Easy to be mislead by YouTube vids but he looks a player in those clips.

Holds the ball up and links well which would be ideal with our other forwards, looks to have a very quick turn of pace as well.

If he’s available in January he could well be worth a punt.:smirk:

That's someone I've seen a fair amount of live both this and last season. He's my first choice as well without a doubt but can't see us getting him. There's just something about us and signings that make sense that don't go together...

A younger Lukaku.
The striker we need is Timo Werner, if not him then Moussa Dembele.

Big, black and strong = new Lukaku?

Werner would be amazing, but lets not kid ourselves, he is not coming here.

He is left footed, similar built and has similar bad ball control like Lukaku.

Totally agree mate,
It used to annoy me when Pogba was compared to Viera and Toure as they are nothing like each other as players.

He is right footed and is a technical player.

Mousse Dembele is the new Lukaku - a strong lad with an unrefined touch who knows where the goal is.

I love Édouard! I was shocked when I realised he’s only 21. Exactly the sort of player we should be after in January

I watch a lot of Scottish football for my sins, he has a much better all round game than Morelos even if he doesn't quite score quite as many goals. Celtic are far superior with him in the team and he seems to get a lot of important goals for them.

Think he has a higher ceiling than say Morelos. Suspect he'll have one more stepping stone between Celtic and a top 6 team. Rarely do top 6 teams take a gamble on a player from the SPFL.

I like the look of Edouard, seen him a few times, wouldn’t mind him as another striker option. Wouldn’t cost to much either could be a smart bit of business for us in January, therefore not going to happen.

He was signed for £9 million so you’d be thinking Celtic would want £18- £20 mill.

Can’t see it happening myself

I watched him in Europe for Celtic a few weeks ago. He looked clumsy and wasteful. I may have picked a bad game for him but based on that, I personally do not want.

Will be the next big player to go from Scotland to England and be successful. No chance he comes to united though, he’s more likely to end up at Leicester in the summer.

Have to say, I agree with that from what I’ve seen.

I posted about him a while back and got very mixed reviews. While some players from Celtic/ Rangers have been ace, I don’t see him as being in the : VVD, Di Canio, Larsson, Laudrup class.

He is a rough diamond, but he looks like an exciting prospect tbh. Seems to lack a bit of composure at times though.

Not gonna lie, I would love to see us take a shot on him. I think he's going to become and excellent player and there is a hell of a lot to admire about his game.

I doubt we would get him in January due to obvious reasons, but I think he is a player who could bring a huge amount for not as much outlay as others.

quality player, very good at creating chances as well. Anyone saying they've seen him recently and aren't sure, he's coming back from injury. At his age, he's a great prospect. Someone above said he lacked composure, that's actually one of his strengths. Celtic are a selling club, you make them the right offer they will take and go snap up the next prospect. Good thing about Edouard is he has a bit of everything, speed, strength, finishing and link up play. He's definitely destined to step up to the next level.

He doesnt look consistent, never really stands out and is hardly ripping it up in the Scottish league.

People slam the Championship, Portuguese, French and Dutch leagues when we are linked to players there, but we should look at this guy who is at best in the "good player" category for Celtic? Get a grip. He's not worth the discussion frankly

I know we are in need of signings, but come on seriously....

No doubt you were pedalling a similar line when people were discussing Van Dijk..Mane...etc etc? Quality players can play in Scotland or for smaller clubs- it’s not a crime!

Don't think Mane played in the Scottish league.

Players from the Scottish league don't really transition well into top teams, from what I've seen. Off the top of my head, all I can think of is Larsson and VVD.

Nakamura performed well at Champions league level but never made the jump to a top team.

he's top goalscorer in that league despite missing part of it through injury, and his game isn't based on being an out and out poacher. He's 21 , hes a prospect worth looking at. People on here don't slam the Portuguese, French and Dutch leagues, if anything they give them too much credit at the expense of other leagues such as SPL. Look at the frenzy on here about a 19 yr old lad playing in Austria, people were referring to him as a "generational talent" ffs. So much to Edouard's game in regards to working the channels, setting up teammates etc, plus he can score. Look at his performance in Italy v Lazio, he was hands down by far the best player on the pitch. He has the temperment to go to such an intimidating atmosphere and shine.

Moussa Dembélé has nothing to do with Lukaku, their games are totally different.

He's a very decent prospect. Not an out an out goalscorer but has a good all round game. He is absolutely nothing like Lukaku, a quite bizarre comparison

Didn’t say he did! The same sort of comments come about players playing for lower clubs though too

Would've made sense if the club didn't wait till the last days to sign Bruno. Now we're stuck with Ighalo for better or worse.

No it wouldn’t have. We probably are not interested in him. If we bought a 21 year old striker for big money, it will be for the long term. If we bring in a 30 year old striker on loan, it will be for the short term.

I doubt Celtic would demand ‘big money’ though! Certainly no more than Ighalo’s club would demand to make his transfer permanent

Top player, I really like that he has a bit of everything. Pace, power, can score, can create, hit free kicks and he's young. There will be interest in him, he came through the ranks at PSG, very involved in French team at underage level so scouting in europe will be very aware of him, a lot more so than say a young scottish kid breaking into the celtic 1st team. I could see Rodgers being interested in him, Vardy still doing well obviously but at 33 and a player whose game is based on speed, they'd need to start planning for down the road. Rodgers knows Edouard from his time managing Celtic. He'd probably go for somewhere in the 30 to 40 million in today's market.

I'd actually expect Lyon to buy him to replace Dembele when he moves this summer. Would be very smart.

Edouard will join Leicester. Almost certainty.
