I hope that we being linked to a player Poch wanted to get in at Spurs is no coincidence.
Interesting observation. Ole already turned his nose up at him over the summer. You'd wonder has dialogue opened already with Poch, behind the scenes in some form or another, with a view to taking over in the summer.

Not sure how genuine are links are, but for a player putting up some such consistent numbers as he is, coupled with his age and buy out cost, which is isn't excessively high, I'm not sure why there isn't more interest in him from bigger clubs.
Since when did a 100 million euros not become excessively high. His buy out is 100 mil, however Sporting need to sell him and realise that 2020 is probably the last year they’ll get a sizeable fed so rumour has it they are willing to deal at 70mil.

Is he better than what we have yes, is he a long term solution. No, not for me, and not for that kind of cash. Think desperation is what will probably drive this one if it happens. I’d rather wait till the summer or move for Olmo and Soumaré or something this window.

Sporting: Balconies and Viana negotiate Bruno Fernandes in London
Bruno Fernandes is being negotiated in London on Friday.

Sporting president Frederico Varandas traveled to the English capital, where he is accompanied by sporting director Hugo Viana to discuss a possible transfer from the Leonino captain.

Manchester United seem, at this point, the most likely destination for Bruno Fernandes.

Red Devils coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in Alvalade last Sunday to watch the classic with FC Porto. An information given by the "Record" in this Friday's edition, and confirmed by Maisfutebol .

Bruno Fernandes has always assumed the dream of playing in Inglaterrra, for the rest, and in the summer was close to achieving that goal, with Tottenham advancing even with a proposal, rejected in Alvalade.

Now this English dream seems close again. One indication of this was Silas' speech on Friday at a press conference.

«Bruno is a huge player, and these players have a lot of market. We know that it will always be widely spoken and sought after by the size of the talkative clubs. I don't like to think about this before, but I'm starting to think about alternatives within the team, in case Bruno doesn't stay with us. I hope this does not happen, as it is very important for us, but the truth is that we have to start thinking ... ', said the coach.
@SportingCP96 Good source ? Anything you're hearing from Portugal?

Would rather we get Grealish than bruno. If his passing was supposedly not deemed good enough for us earlier, then how did it suddenly get good again.

Who's to say how his playing style would into our set up and if can even come close to the numbers in the premier league.

We aren’t getting Grealish right now. Maybe in the summer but we literally can not afford to not get someone like Bruno in. It has to be done.

Him and a CDM would be good business for January. If Pogba and McTominay can get fit then, along with Fred, we should be ok with the chance to then assess again in the summer. Bruno alone won't cut it this January as we desperately need a solid defensive player (whose legs haven't gone) in too. I'd be happy then to think we could pursue a proper playmaker next window.

Yesterday we were definitely signing Van De Beek this winter. The day before that and we were definitely signing Boubakary Soumare. The day before that it was 100% Eriksen. Today Bruno.

The reality is that we're not signing anyone this winter unless it's some unheard of kid. Money will be saved for summer signings.
Pogba sold this summer to fund two signings...

Totally agree. Bruno and a CDM would represent an excellent January window considering how poor they usually are.

It would give us a great head start for the summer window and take away some of the impression to other clubs that we will be desperate for signings (which invariably increases the transfer fees.)

Now people are complaining that just one signing isn't enough?

Given how most us expect zero business done over this window, even Bruno + a new coffee lady would be wonderful news.

Yeah, I'll start believing this when there's a picture of him at Carrington. You can only be burned so many times.

Not complaining, would be happy with Bruno alone but ideally another defensive midfield signing could prove massive to us. We still have the Europa as a way to the CL so I'd like to see us show some ambition to do it.

However if Pogba and McTominay could get and stay fit then Bruno alone would be fine for the rest of the season.

Sporting must be in dire straights if they are selling Fernandes in January as he has scored or assisted like 60% of their goals this year and they are still in three competitions and in real danger of not qualifying for Europe at all next season if they go on a bad run.

Not believing it one bit. The Portuguese press are hopeless and drumming up a big transfer involving a domestic talent seems to be a national time pass.

Don't believe this guys, not happening.

I can't remember the Portuguese media going this big before. Would be a all-time low if it turned out false now.

Castles also reported similar so I think this is gonna happen.

Do we have offices in London? Why not in Manchester?

Anyway too much smoke without fire lads. It’s definitely happening :drool:
