Quality of opposition is where the doubts come in.

Without a doubt he's an upgrade on Lingard/Pereira and we're desperate so I'll take it.
I’d take it too at this stage a midfield off Pogba, Fred, Bruno might actually be entertaining.

This was the one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen over the summer he was in tears before a friendly making it look for all intents and purposes like it was his last match. Something had to have reversed last minute.

I’d take Emre Can on loan as well along with the Ajax lad and Grealish.
Would be brilliant!

On your bike Andreas, Jesse and Matic.

If nothing else, I expect that he will add a bit of potency to our corners and free kicks. That has been a huge deficiency in the squad.

Ed failed to deliver in the summer that’s probably the only explanation, I think the manager clearly wanted him since summer.

Didn’t Ole say we never tried to sign him because his passing wasn’t good enough, be quite strange to sign him now would it not.
No. It was an article that stated Ed mentioned it not Ole. But if you read the article there is no quote. Media had blindly to convince people to blame manager.

This is happening right lads? Even a tier 1 simon stones said his source told him that the agent and the sporting’s representative went to England for negotiation.

Creative, can score goals and good with set pieces or corner. I can’t be more excited here.

I only watched him with Portugal National team, and I always impressed with him and I think he is 3rd best Portuguese player at the moment behind Ronaldo and Silva, his work rate is not bad either. Although his attempt for long shoot can upset some people since I have seen people criticised Rashford for keep shooting long range when there is option to pass.

Excited. I’m wondering what’s Ole’s plan with him here. Making him like Lampard since we got Martial who can hold the ball and drop deep or make him like traditional no 10 to create chances rather than score more goals.

This is my concern too. It’s the deeper midfielder we need most I think.
We are lacking options in that position, yes, but the creative part of the midfield is even more pressing.
We have Jesse Lingard on the first 11 for Christ's sake.

I saw him in a pre-season match against bitter rivals Liverpool and I was impressed. Industrious, composed and his pressing, for a friendly, was rather insane.

He'll likely fail here.

Looks like we're signing exactly the sort of player we need. This can't be happening right?

The only way we don’t look like fools for not signing him in the summer is if Ole thought lingard would step up and he hasn’t at all. He’s a lingard replacement more than a pogba right?
I would think so. Pogba-Fred behind Bruno for home matches vs cannon fodder. Tougher matches McTominay in place of Fred, until we sign a quality DM.

Fred-Pogba-Bruno sounds exciting to me.

At Sporting Bruno he´s doing both. Just imagine to have someone who can actually score from distance!!!

What makes you think dm is more of a priority over 10? We need creative attackers and goals-scorers the most imo.

If we can fix that, our defence will naturally improve overnight as less pressure will be on them. You don't agree? It's one of the main reasons why i would have preferred midfielders/attackers in the summer instead of Maguire.

We lack any sort of depth when it comes to our midfield, I think we need both really but at least we can adapt our formation to play without a 10. You’re right that we lack goals though, it still blows my mind that we spend so much of an apparently tight budget on the defence.

I’ve been watching lots of stuff on him this evening. He’s a really good player. He’s going to score and assist 1000% more than lingard. Him attacking on the right side of CM and pogba on the left and I think we start to break the stubborn teams down. He can do the unexpected and deliver that pass you didn’t think was on. The only doubt I have is why one of the other big clubs didn’t go for him after his mad season last year? The big Spanish clubs shop in Portugal a lot for their top players and they aren’t shy about splashing the cash. He’s a good age. I hope he’s not mentally fragile like a lot of our signings seem to be. If we’d got Haaland too that would have been some window ... please get a RW and a DM now too. Even if they are just punts. I’d take another 2 form players from the championship even. Just get top fecking four and keep building!

Lingard killer!
Jesse with the pressure off for a month or two might hit some form again. Everyone can see he’s been terrible for ages and needs to be out of the team. I wouldn’t mind if he was sold at all. I don’t particularly like him or anything but he’s better than he’s shown the last while. Could still be a decent squad player if he cuts the big headed marketing shite and gets his head down.

Yeah the more different setups we can switch to in-game the better. It's too easy to play against us right now.

I know, it was absolutely mad at the time. Attack literally is the best form of defence. Also, as we're finding out, being a 'boring' struggling defensive team makes it that much harder to attract future talent.

This is a good point.
Regarding the unearthing of gems - we don't do that. Our scouts haven't unearthed a gem in several years, which leads me to believe that they too, are (massively) under performing.
We have to sign the player to unearth them.

There's too much smoke now for there not to be a fire. Would be excited to see if he can carry over his performances in the Portuguese league to here.

I'm sorry but no way that is happening. He's 27, not some 17 year old who will mature.

I agree, it's finally starting to look exciting attacking again. That's a massive plus on it's own.

I don't know why the big Spanish clubs weren't interested. Makes you suspect either his decision-making or temperament as the talent is there. We know Spurs wanted him last summer for big money for them, likely as a replacement for Eriksen, so he did have some suitors.

Just got to trust Ole has done his character background and if so, he should be ready to fit in from the start.

Me too, we need all the bodies we can get at this point.

Hope this happens because considering his stats for Sporting he surely can't do worse than Lingard, actually the only way to be worse is to score own goals so doubt that happens

A couple days ago everyone feared no one would be bought so I will be more than happy but still hope we go for one more signing at least this window.
There was a noise and rumours of Donny van de Beek a couple days back, surely Woodie was not doing a quick smokescreen for this ?

I understand you’re totally fed up of him, as am I but he’s a better player than he’s shown this season. Is he starting UTD quality? No he should be shipped out on this form really but he can certainly contribute a lot more than he has recently before he leaves. Sods law He’ll probably start playing class once his contract starts running down and head off to another team for nothing

A transfer to appease the fan channels and get them off the clubs back for a minute, ugh.
What? It isn’t just fan channels on the clubs back. If anything we should be on the clubs back even more than we are. It’s a disgrace.

Well we don't score enough goals so either/both of both of those would be nice.

I hope this is another good signing by ole. You have to say his signings like to get stuck in and they’ve improved us if everyone could stay fit for longer than a week. We need some starters for sure but the squad also badly needs some quality in depth too.

If we were to get Bruno during this window, wouldnt that put an end to Maddison/Grealish, or can Bruno play in a pivot?
From what I read and hear, the likes of Grealish have technical ability on the ball that Fernandes just doesn't who has far greater end product. Again, I fear were going for the wrong type of player. I imagine most are just happy to possibly be signing anyone. But again, I see us not prioritising on close control, ability in tight spaces etc
