That Williams miss was all Ole's fault. I expect his resignation on Ed's desk first thing in the morning.
 And so many on here not seeing the positives of what we are building, no patience. Williams was fecking brilliant again, Fred was excellent, Rashford looked very confident, Greenwood clinical, Gomes looked confident when he came on, really enjoyable, not just the performance and result but the fact there is so much emphasis on youth, watching United is starting to become fun again, does not always happen of course, it is inconsistent, you understand that, but build around that core of home grown players and there is a very good team there.

Easy win against a weak Norwich team. It was a strong performance with some very good individual displays, I was particularly pleased with Mata and Williams who made key contributions.

Big mention to Greenwood who scored a cracker coming off the bench.Think that’s his 9th goal of the season, outstanding in his breakout year.

The big tests will come when we play the big teams. Unless we beat them. In which case the big tests will come when we play the smaller teams. Unless we beat them.
Brilliant.

One positive I do see in this team is that they don't seem to lose confidence and belief too easily. We've had plenty of horrible matches this season, but it often hasn't been long before we put in a good performance where the players have been able to express themselves. At least they're still clearly trying and they're still playing for Ole. I just wish the general level of quality was better

Nice stats. That games part is miss leading though. Most of Greenwood's games are subs, like today, it takes him 5 minutes to score the goal.

Norwich drew with Arsenal, Leicester, Everton and Spurs, beat City and ran Chelsea a close game.
They are bottom of the league but haven't actually had that many thumping-mostly only losing by a goal.

A good result for us, and we need to not dismiss Norwich because they are bottom, as it doesn't tell the full story. Well done lads-great game.
This. 100%

It will be when we have deeper and better squad.

Brilliant today. Shows with a decent number 10 we can break down teams. Mata was very good in fairness.
I think ole has shown enough to deserve backing before he’s judged properly.
Rashford was unreal today, that flip flap was disgusting.
Fred very good again, set our tempo. And Williams very good too, pity about his miss.

You may have gotten a bit carried away there with "Fred was excellent", mate. He looked bad today and would have cost us a goal, if not for De Gea. Fred needs to be rested - he's been asked to carry the midfield for too long and this can't last. We are risking him for injury, performance dip aside. If he starts in the game with Wolves, I will be super pissed.

I disagree. Granted that they have been good against the sides you mention but there is a reason they are bottom of the table. Today, they offered nothing whatsoever. Our players had a free ride almost the entire game and could pick their passes, keep control of the midfield, and then overload the final third with men without fear of getting hit on the counter.

The only decent chance they produced was at 1-0 when De Gea made a decent save to his left.

Of course it is a good result as scoring 4 goals against any opposition is a positive but in the grand scheme of things this result means nothing. Our inconsistencies step from systemic issues which can't be solved with "morale" and "form" etc.

The positives for me are that young players like Williams and Greenwood are getting a workout against PL opposition and gaining crucial match experience. Apart from that, this just clouds the dire situation the club is currently at. We are set up to fail. Spectacularly.

Excellent performance. The one thing I did think was a bit weird was keeping Fred on for the full 90. With the injuries in midfield we absolutely need him to stay fit and I never thought I'd type that.

At Old Trafford against a team that is bottom of the league this is what should be seen as a regular performance, but given how things have been that was surprisingly crisp from the team, some really nice interplay between the front 4 in particular and the tempo was maintained pretty well throughout the game.

No he was excellent in fairness, I know the mistake you are talking about, there were mistakes with other players too who had great games, they need to be ironed out, especially the sloppy passing, but in general his energy and tenacity was very good and really helped us as we are so light in midfield, as you said he needs a rest, defo, it just adds more credit to the shift he put in.

Seemed like the closest to a 433 type formation we've started with in ages

Seemed to be 4312 at times to with the drifting which seems better suited for our players

It's spooky to watch RvP scoring goals so similar to those Greenwood scored for us.

Lovely to see a real team performance. Everyone played a part today, and it was good to see none of the players on the pitch needing to be carried by their teammates.

Fair enough. I'm not saying we are suddenly a spectacular side. We could play them tomorrow and fail to perform anywhere near as well, as I agree that we are very inconsistent and need some quality investment.
I just think Norwich are better than they get credit for. They have recently lost to wolves and sheff utd in incredibly tight games they could have just as easily have won. Same for the draw at Crystal Palace.
Most games they have lost has been down to them not converting chances, and with a bit more quality in front of goal they would be sitting mid table. They usually have more possession, higher passing accuracy and shots/shots on target than the opposition.
Today could have been a bad day for us and Ole especially, but we put them to the sword and I hope this gives us confidence for the dippers.

None of the most vocal Ole out crew posted yet in this thread I see. Not for the first time when we win. Cant seem to shut themselves up when it's a negative topic, but win 4-0 and a 'well played' seems to be beyond them. Proper fans

In terms of the game, my stream was crap so i watched it in patches, but we looked good, yes albeit against poor opposition, but we've seen time and again in this league this year that every match is a potential banana skin, so credit to all for a job well done.

Again we see with Mata what an effective creative player adds to this team. It opens up all kinds of possibilities. People talk about tactics but you cant train players to find those passes. You either have that player or you need to buy them.

Credit to Maguire for getting back out there. We talk about needing to buy the right characters, and this is why. He wants to play every minute.

Greenwood is going to beat Rooneys record (unless Rashford gets there first)

Just don't understand this United team. From one week to the next you never know what you are gonna get.
Yup.

Mata being a smarter footballer than most helps against teams like this. If only he was younger.

Its great that despite being great one week/shite the next our forwards keep scoring. Imagine what we could do with a proper midfield behind them every week.

I hope Greenwood and Rashford have a great race to break Rooneys record.

Oh and we scored from a corner!

Also Norwich may as well pack their bags.

This is how we should be dispatching bottom 10 sides each week.
This.

It felt like an old style United, where the second we got the first goal you knew we'd cruise it out.

Agreed. Definitely a confidence booster for our squad before the Liverpool game. You still have to beat what's in front of you so they have done well.

It's internet fans. Everything is either great or rubbish.
The more balanced of us sit somewhere in the middle, and can recognise a good or poor performance on its own individual merits.

How the heck City lost to this lot I do not know.

That is uncalled for. There're plenty of die-hard "Ole Out" people among match-going fans, and plenty of "Ole In" or moderate fans among the international crowd.

Don't mistake internet with international.
They're two completely different words.

Didn’t see the game sadly but Mata’s assists looked brilliant on the highlights ...why hasn’t he done that more over the years.

Liverpool next!

I still want him out for a better manager/coach. Yes we played well and scored 4 goals and should have probably 6 but that does not make me believe that Ole is the man to take us to trophies. Norwich was extremely poor and made it easy for us too. Let's see how we far against better opposition. There is a reason why they are at the bottom of the league with only 14 points. Honestly if we did not crush them at home everyone should have been sacked.

Another one of those wins after an abysmal period - I don’t feel assuaged by a big win against a poor side.
Tough month and the coming week will push the envelope.

Was out all day and my mobile data had ran out so had no idea what the score was. I expected us to win but not by this big a margin. Very good result and seems like a couple of players put in some very good performances too which is encouraging to hear. Also was it true that there were some very loud and vocal anti Woodward/Glazers chants today? Further encouraging if true!
